I think all those extensive writings and notes ES recorded was to document the path he was on. It was like going down a road and recording every stone, blade of grass, breeze direction and it becomes fastenating. Like Walt Witman was fascinated by his blades of grass. But when you apply this extraordinary attention to something as spiritual as the Bible- the realms of reality and life start to change.
