Pearl Jam died when they kicked out Abruzzese. Cameron was an epic drummer for Soundgarden, but just fills the void for Pearl Jam. I'm guessing they really don't let him loose, but regardless, his style is geared more those odd time sigs and heavier sounds of Soundgarden...

He showed more technical prowess in Soundgarden, but having aged and having gained all those years more experience in Pearl Jam he is no doubt a better drummer today. But anyways if it's a question of when was he able to show more of his potential then the answer would be in Soundgarden.
