A few things: stop picking on him, once/if he joins a good reenactment group he will learn how to get things right; Im at that stage right now with my reenacting group. Next where you get the stuff can be from many places: Reenactments, ebay, militaria shows, online sites, or trades. If you look hard enough, you will find great deals. And nobody wears original airborne m42 uniforms; too expensive. lastly the hip holster is fine. They got the shoulder holsters from the air force. There, nuf said

Also, Band of Brothers and SPR isn't the only reason for reenactors. I saw SPR before I loved the airborne, but they don't do much in that movie. i reenact in to units the first unit is the 82nd airborne and the second is the 2nd rangers in my 82nd airborne unit i use my M3 shoulder holster and my 2nd rangers i use my M1911 hip holster

yes there are different uniforms, the m42 (Kakhi color) which was worn on D-day, Italy, and Sicily. There are two types of m42: unreinforced which is the basic uniform worn in Italy and Sicily, and reinforced which was worn on D-day which had rigger material on the knees, elbows, and pockets for extra strength. then there was the m43 uniform which was issued after d-day and used from Market garden onwards (Olive drab green).

actaually many of the paratroopers landed far from there target. There was to much firing causing the planes to shake and turn tossing them everywhere. The 101st is one of the more famous divisions. But not the most famous. Plus the paratroopers would be wearing black face paint because it is night. They would also carry something called a cricket, it is something you grip and it would make a clicking sound.

The 506th was not the only PIR in the ETO. The 505th and 504th (82nd yes the 82nd) had more battle honors than the 101st. Not to downplay the 101st but even the 101st will admit they weren't the only ones. In the 101st there also was the 501 and the 502 PIR. They along with the Seaborne forces were the Heros of Normandy.

A good, authentic impression will cost you anywhere from about $300-$1000. You're best bet is to check out military and gun shows near you.

Well I think the gun is gonna be the toughest part. I know what I want for gear and all that, but to get a real M1 Carbine or Garand and then blank adapt it might be very costly. As far as gear goes, I do not want to pay $100for repro Corcoran Jump boots.

They are VERY costly, I must agree. If you want, you can check out the WW2AA (World War II Airsoft Association), as airsoft guns tend to run slightly cheaper. As for the jump boots, well, theres really no cheaper alternative then to get some post war one and dye them, but I would seriously discourage that.
