The Lewis and Clark Expedition is one of the few things in history that I learned in school. Of course, I also learned when Columbus discovered America.

Poor Merne! He should have left his government job that he got when this was over and became a mountain man for the rest of his days. It's a curiosity why he didn't. Maybe some of you better history buffs know?

Me too. Whenever I'm hiking in the 'wilderness' I think about them at least once, and what an adventure it must have been when the West was truly wild.
