Hi.. I never considered giving the birds shows to watch during the day while im out. I have a tiel of same coloring as this one and also a sun conure.. they are sisters :D but maybe I should give them shows to watch>? I never considered it. The tiel doesnt mimic anything but the conure mimics "hello" when the phone rings and she laughs.. do you just leave the movie running all the time?

I read the you can tell by the way they look... But I think that´s bullshit. I sent I feather of mine to do a test to be sure, he is a male. But I bought it without knowing, I choose him cause he was clearly very happy, on the highest part of the cage "singing"/"screaming" (I do not know the right word in english for the birds sounds)

@PKBitchGirl with all the different color variations available nowadays with cockatiels, there is no way for certain the sex of the bird based on sight alone. Unless you have the classic gray color; the females usually don't have the bright yellow on the head as the males do.

But when in doubt, the blood test is the way to go.

My family used to breed/raise these wonderful birds. And we've had a female or two that would sing as much or more than the males too.

Usually, I split the music into parts. This one in particularly, in divided in 3 parts. I literally whistled to him evertime I got home. When he got the first part, I started to sing the 1+2 parts... then, when he got that, I teach 1+2+3 (the whole music). He stays free in the house since my mom is retired, but only I teach him how to sing.. SO, just whistle to yours about 10 min EVERYday that should be more than enough,,,

actually no... if you "raise" them from the start, free (I only out him in the cage to sleep and to eat, he prefers to be in our shoulders than eat :P) it will not fly around. Mine only flies when he scares with somthing, generally loud sounds. Although we do cut his wings so if he flies does not get to far
