  • This song is fucking beautiful!

  • The DRUMS in this album completely slay, love that snare sound

  • I bought this album the week it came out. I have not disliked a single track. Ghost Reveries, Watershed, Blackwater Park, Damnation, etc. are all FANTASTIC albums, and this one right here belongs right with them. No two Opeth albums are the same, and Heritage definitely stands on its own.

  • @guitarmaster35 I agree:) I recall a recent interview where Mikael said some of the albums are kind of "sister albums". Orchid and Morningrise, Still Life and BWP, and GR and Watershed. MAYH stands alone, Deliverance and Damnation are both odd ones out too. And then we have Heritage which is definitely something different from them. Im excited for what comes next,

IMO every one of them is their best album in its own right. I fuckin love what they did on Heritage.

  • I don't know how they come up with the stuff on this album, but I wanna do the same thing for a living! :) This is some great music

  • Mmm, the song have something bad... Haaa, i found it, i don't like the part that starts at the 6:50

  • @brucedickisonfan, you are so fucking right. When I heard that, I was like, holy mother of god, this is beyond amazing.

  • I miss the death metal, it's not like they're that old, Mikael is only 38, Cannibal Corpse are like 45, hopefully the next album brings it back.

  • @TehKrakerzGuy I'm a fan of death metal. Death is one of my favourite bands. Opeth too. I love death metal, but since prog is by definition against the common patterns in music, you should've been waiting nothing more from Opeth than absolutely experimental rithms, Blackmore riffs, crazy solos, Steven Wilson here and there, atmospheric feelings of sadness everywhere and so on. I understand you because I miss the death metal part too, but, man, Opeth is wonderful. Enjoy it (buy the CD).

  • @fwfwfw I probably won't buy this album, but I will recommend it to my sister who enjoys 60s/70s classic rock and can't stand my extreme metal collection.

  • @TehKrakerzGuy They're not stopping Death Metal type stuff cause they can't do it. They're stopping it cause they want to do something different, and in my opinion, far better and more mature.

  • i came...in my pants..(to this) :D

  • Outro bass and piano duet is an instance of pure genius

  • all the people hating on the new album... have any of u heard damnation? its very mellow and equally as amazing as any other opeth album

  • 2:35, one of the best things ever happened in music history.

  • I love Opeth, atleast their old work, but Watershed was already a lil bit less awesome and this latest album just killed it for me. I hope their next album is like the old ones, but that's something we'll find out in the future.

  • I love this track. But, isn't it about time, that we realised that beautiful music, along with the unpaletable, does not intrinsically exist. Each of us hears something different. Let people dislike things. Why do we get so indignant, when someone disagrees with our own exalted views?? Let people have their own tastes. It's what makes us all beautifully diverse. Uptight pride causes a lot of the misery in this world.

  • @clandestine6760

    +1

Awesome track, I'm pretty much into Metal, Thrash and Black and some cool old school Death but I'm glad Opeth changed in another way, such a beautiful music ! And as Mastodon did, never the same album !

It's great to see the music evolving when you get different band members, truly awesome!

Awesome drummer btw, great DW kit and Sabian set !

  • Opeth has never made a bad album. Heritage is beautiful. I don't know what all the hate is about. It might not have growls, but it has beautiful melodies, chords, well placed solos etc. etc. Learn to appreciate music haters.

  • @DreadedLeopard some people can't let stereotypes and just start to appreciate

  • @DreadedLeopard YES! A thousand upvotes for you my good sir, if I could...

  • I have to be honest, I came in here with claws concerning this album, but after hearing it I have come to the conclusion that OPETH can do no wrong...

  • so glad to have bought this the day it came out in America. One of the best albums 2011 has to offer!! Opeth for life.

  • I think it is awesome that Mikel Akerfeldt has finally embodied his love for progressive rock in this album. Most will hate the clean vocals on this album, but I think that it goes hand in hand with the truly progressive style of Opeth.

  • Will see them at Wacken 2012 bitches! \m/

  • I kinda get the meaning of the song and all, but can anyone inform me what the word Haxprocess means/translates to? I'm really curious.

  • @666Archimonde Saw an interview with Akerfeldt where he said it meant "Witch Process".

  • by odin's right eye, this song is amazing

  • @MCrants0 It is Mikael's favorite song according to the Official Opeth Website. :)

  • just discovering them tonight and i am very happy to find something so lovely!

  • opeth...opeth... man i wanna buy and keep this band

  • Old Opeth fan here.I have to say this is one of the most interesting songs from them.I mean, listen at 3:15 "Moon is riding high".Dude, that melodies, guitar doing a beautiful run, bass and drums 100% in mutual playing, and Mikael's voice in that part is just....oooh man.

    Incredible.Superior.

  • @AliothSenator totally agree

  • I think one of the things I really love in this song is that you hear faint sounds in the background after 1:17 and it pulls you in like your watching someone elses life (their childhood, their successes, their loss) in your mind's eye. It's actually the most sentimental moment I've experience so far from listening to all their albums.

  • I really love what Mikael did with Heritage. I think he is taking opeth the right direction.

  • One of the most beautiful Opeth songs yet. I wish they made a whole album that sounded like this.

  • I love the album but disliked the track just to piss those idiots off that care about the like/dislike bar.

  • @ParadigmRed Took the words right out of my mouth. You're awesome.

  • This is Mikael Åkerfeldts favorite Opeth song. I completely understand why.

  • Jesus Christ I just thought of something, does Mikael have a guitar solo anywhere on this album? Is that him at the end. Hmm it sounds more like fred i think.

  • @C20H25N3Ofya The Devil's Orchard has one from him (:

  • Where would I be without Opeth? Listening to fucking Nickelback? Thank goodness for Mikael.

  • No more growling. Time for a fully instrumental album in the upcoming years. This is good because metal starts to diverge from the popular/mainstream music just as jazz did in the old days. Just as 'classical' music diverged from folk music.

  • @KaerbEmEvig whats your point?

  • YEAH! No more growlings! :) It's about time!

  • @JeanMauriceBicard the growling is what added so much power to there songs

this album has no power it all sounds the same

i hope they do not keep this style for there next album yes i like these songs it just doesnt sound like my favorite band any more

  • beautiful song

  • Wauw!!!!

  • The last two minutes....just....beautiful. <3

  • @PhaseChan the last 6:50 minutes, just beautiful .

  • @PhaseChan Absolutely true :-) In addition, i found on Ultimate Guitar tabs where this second, muted melodyplayed in background of solo is played by bass. It sound absolutely perfect, i am really enjoing playing it again and again :-)

  • Oh the bass during the solo... magnificent ...

  • was this on the heritage album?

  • @Mennis99 yep

  • This album reminds me a lot of Porcupine Tree

  • @ElegyForTheMasses it was produced by steven wilosn :)

  • I really like the song. But it feels like Ive heard the same Ackerfeldt solo many times

  • Häxprocess = Witch trial

  • complicated is good, more iQ was used to create the art.

mainstream is shit, its all about profit not about art which one fine tune over and over

  • Tento album si naozaj budem musiet kupit...

  • Beautiful

  • who the FUCK disliked this? Really? Opeth uses more chord/time signatures and artistic directions in one albums then some bands have in their entire discography. Haters fuck off.

  • @ParadigmRed Thats the problem... Peoples are lazy, 98% of all persons which i know cannot handle something a little complicated than four-chorded melody in one song. If you show them something a bit more interessing, they only sweep with thier hand, tells something like "i dont like that", "what is that shit?" and its done... I am from Czech Republic and i must say - we are nation of ignorants :-D No melodeath/progressive/post-rock/or whatewer "above the line" have a chance here, sadly :-/

  • @MrNehygienix I'm Czech too! but yes, good point

  • @MrNehygienix It's the same everywhere dude, these are all fringe/alternative musical cultures, they are never going to replace Justin Bieber, the question is do you really WANT them to?

  • @metabog Sure, they will never replace these poppies, and i will never want to, but - for exact, i am bassist, and i want to play and try to write music with influences of bands like Opeth,Riverside, maybe Ghost Brigade, Insomnium etc. But, is very, very hard to find somebody who at least listen to this music, and finding someone who play this is almost impossible. Because of this,i am slowly falling from my proggy ambitions down to only home-playning for myself, and thats somewhat...frustrating.

  • @MrNehygienix Do what I did and find people online. I managed to start a pretty cool project with a lot of people from Youtube, and we are still friends and managed to put out an album together. Take advantage of the internet and modern remote recording technology. I know it's not "the same", but yes, the chances that you will find someone nearby who likes this kind of music AND can play it and is interested is close to zero.

  • @MrNehygienix Hey... what are you talking about mate! Let's do an online guitar-bass duet ;) that's already something.

  • @iVanHalen666 That would be great :-) I only need to buy a better microphone (because my combo does not support direct conecting to PC) and we can try something :-)

  • @MrNehygienix You can't be serious. Some of the craziest stuff in metal has come from Czech Republic.

  • @Descalabro unfortunately, i am telling you truth :-/ Only one place in CZ, where you can listen to some quality music is biggest cities, where can be found few good clubs. But even these are on the wane - many peoples are fighting against them. I am from small city in southeast of CZ, and i dont know any club like this many miles away. But at least, they still are :-)

  • @MrNehygienix Oh, I see. I didn't understand you were talking about seeing the bands live.

  • @MrNehygienix Silent Stream of Godless Elegy are from the Czech Republic. Listen to the song Pohanska if you dont know them. :)

  • @syntheticskull Many thanks, i didn't know about them. I am going to listen them immediately :-)

  • @MrNehygienix Canada isnt much better for that, all my close friends thought this song was just a bunch of noise while they told me LMFAO are the best band of 2011. what has come of this world haha

  • @MrNehygienix Sorry to hear that.. I agree, Opeth are just a magical band. Its takes a special person to appreciate the diversity and musicianship. I'm from the U.S. and these guys are my favorite band. Hails from New York. I love you guys, man.

  • But U have Brutal Assault :P

  • @MrNehygienix Tried showing my friend Porcupine Tree's latest album 'The Incident' the other day. His response "That's creepy" which is essentially what the album is supposed to be like , so i agree with him , but he meant it as in , 'that's too creepy to listen to'. Australia's just as ignorant mate =P

  • @ParadigmRed More complicated =/= good or bad

  • @ParadigmRed I like Opeth, but they are not that complex. Listen to stuff like Wobbler.

  • @ParadigmRed you can like this as much as somebody can dislike this. i feel like this album isnt opeth at all. i think that this might as well could have been an album mikael made for a side project. its not bad but it just isnt the opeth ive come to like.

  • @Ozznize Thank you for voicing what has been lurking in the back of my mind. [:

  • @strawbarry3 the album has a few songs i like and im sure that there many who love all of them. however i just feel like many people are saying that this album is great just because it was made by opeth.

  • @ParadigmRed

ohhhh when mentioning time sig's i automatically think of dream theater ....

    lol

  • @ParadigmRed I hear you. This is probably one of the greatest songs around. :)

  • @ParadigmRed Man don't try to understand the people....80% off the world are fan of dancefloor and david guetta or justin bieber and hate band like opeth lamb of god or maybe classic music--' so don' try to understand them!!!! Its too hard dude! --'

  • @ParadigmRed

Peace to everyone. It is our choice to do one way or other. And your freedom to be enraged. Toward a peaceful world.

  • It's... magic..

  • Mikaels favorite song according to their site...

  • Process of H4X?

  • @ThatCheapDrummer Witch ;)

  • @ThatCheapDrummer "Witch trial"
