Republicans are a waste of space. They ruin the country daily. Look at the situation we find ourselves in... So Cal Hospitals are now being paid 38 cents on the dollar for MediCare, MediCaid and other public services since this Health Care Law as passed. Hospitals are making cuts across the board in order to try to stay in business. While the number of patients have increased, staff and Administrative Costs are being slashed right and left. "I want people in Minnesota armed and dangerous . . . Thomas Jefferson told us, 'Having a revolution every now and then is a good thing.' We are at the point of revolution." -- Michele Bachmann (R-MN)
Congrats! Social Security will pay out more this year than they will take in. This was not suppose to happed until 2016. Millions of Americans have lost everything we own for one reason - we lost our jobs. While we pleaded with you to work with the private sector to find ways to create jobs, you ignored us - you endlessly repeated HC sob stories. You were heck bent on "Making History" by passing Health Care rather than concentrating on what we really want- A JOB!!!! You must be so proud.
I want health care reform but NOT government run health care!! Republicans want to pass laws to limit insurance companies but do not want to turn over this CONTROL and put DEMANDS on the American people telling them that THEY MUST buy health insurance. The democrats are the problem here. If I am not mistaken there were Dems still that did not vote for this BILL as well! Gov. sucks at running their current health plans- Medicare and Medicaid!! They want to steal $ from Medicare? Morons!
I would love to see all those MTV zombies who voted for Obongo get thrown in jail for not buying Niggercare. As cruel as that sounds, that's what they get for electing an America hating socialist nigger into office! Maybe then, they'll demand that MTV go back to airing music videos again!
Republicans had their chance to fix and compromise the healthcare bill and ultimately make it better. Instead, they filibuster... and filibuster... and filibuster some more over something as important as healthcare.
Instead, of compromising they decide to defend the insurance companies? They messed up and now all they can do is watch as the democratic party take charge. They did nothing and they can blame their political strategists for that dumb mistake. Failures.
seekingpenance, you think you are pulling one over on us by uttering such seemingly doltish structures such as "after seen these people," thereby hoping to draw an attack from some poor right-winger who thinks you are a fool--then you will spring your cagey trap on the unaware. The Republicans should resign, they haven't passed ONE bill out of the senate. NOTHING IS GETTING DONE. Why are they there? To be obstructionists??? If so, fine. You'll be out... you watch. Politics is a joke... republicans are the punchline.
Your statement makes me laugh. The Republicans are PROTECTING the average hard working person out there from having to pay more for illegals, or for people who don't work.
But the average American working class is not all Republican.
Republicans tend to overgeneralize all the time.
If you look at the average Republican working class, notice there will be no grit underneath their fingernails. They are all Sales People trying to rip people off.
Compare that with a Democrat worker, they build houses, build cars, and all the professions Republicans are deathly afraid of doing.
It must be nice for a Republican to sit on their ass all day.
@seekingpenance, Republicans are the minority party in both Houses, and by a considerable amount. They don't have the votes to either pass OR STOP any legislation. If "nothing is getting done" to suit you, you are blaming the wrong party. As an example, the reason this idiotic health care bill, in whatever guise, hasn't passed the House, is due to Democrats disagreeing amongst themselves; ergo, they are the "obstructionists" you rant about. The GOP doesn't have the numbers to stop any bill.
Good! Republicans are immature people who are truly truly stupid. I am amazed at people who follow politics and still believe their bull$#!+. But then again... after seen these people, I am not surprised.
Do you have a better argument than "republicans are stupid"? If not, you make yourself look uneducated. Please inform as to why I, as a middle class american, would want to pay more money for someone who doesn't work hard enough to have health insurance when I have trouble enough making ends meat?
Give em hell harry!! we gotta end profit in our lifetime. we gotta kill all the evil corporations so we can have a safe place in the govt. coffers for our retirement money. please just take all of my stock and invest it in your vision for America! you and uncle Barack are my heroes!
The Republicans have tried to get in on these meetings concerning the healthcare bill. All their ideas have been voted down. Plus the Senate Dems have BLATANTLY excluded them from the meetings. Just yesterday Obama went to the Hill to see those of his own party and would not allow the GOP to be in the meeting whatsoever. This guy is a fuckin' liar!!!!
Pretty much called it 100% accurately. The GOP leaks like a seive and these memos always get out and they are usually this unflattering. What any nation needs is to get government OUT of health care. Then the big evil corporations would not be able to lobby. Plus, Medicaid and Medicare are both in the process of bankrupting the US, a public option would only speed up the process. People have gotta think long term and for once STOP BELIEVING YOU CAN HAVE SOMETHING FOR NOTHING!
btw we have socialized medicine here in Denmark and in about 10-15 years.. the system that some americans think is heaven on earth.. is gonna go bankrupt!
Yes, because Denmark and the States are SO alike. That's just foolish.
I wouldn't be alive today if wasn't for healthcare here in Canada. I've lived in the states as well. I've seen people make the decision to go without a doctor because the can't afford it. It's heartbreaking.
Prescription drugs and dental aside of course. However if your sick or in need of care, urgent or otherwise, it's there. It's not perfect but it's far better than the alternative.
assuming you live in a big city like Toronto. Ever spend time on reserves ? or up north ? There are problems with our system, some things we do better than the states, others we do not. Its great for me, but I am young and live in Toronto. Many smaller towns do not have all the necessary health care options available. RVH in Barrie didn't have a dialysis machine until 3 or 4 years ago. Diabetics in Simcoe County had to drive 1-4 hours one way for dialysis. We are getting better...
never been to Sackville, Kitchener- Waterloo but not Sackville. I would love to see our standard of care, our quality increase. If you have a lifelong or at least long term Dr. you can expect a decent standard of care, I would like EVERYONE to have access to that, and today that sadly isn't true.
Are you aware whether or not the socialized medicine in Canada contributes to the national deficit? And if it does, is this trend increasing? and is the system then sustainable?
As a Canadian, I can tell you that until the recession Canada had eliminated its deficit and was paying down its debt. Our universal system is fully funded by the premiums paid by the users.
Basic economic principles do not change because of size or differences in demographics. Perhaps you disagree, and could explain why?
It is heartbreaking! No discussion there. But the reason people cannot afford it, is because the free market is not allowed to work with government interference.
Well, I guess we didn't vote enough of these repukes out. Next year this time it will be very very very clear that the people run this country and not the insurance companies that own the right side of the congress. They are whores with thousands in their pockets from these interests. Not ours. THEIRS!!!! Remember today and what kind of crap they are throwing in our way to stop true reform. VOTE THEM OUT next year!!!!

People are stupid. People do need to be told what to do.
The fact of the matter is that we are a society built of complex social, economic and technical systems.... a society far to complex to allow everyone to do there own little part in controlling it.
What we need is competent technocrats/bureaucrats to control these systems for us, because, quite frankly, most of us are too dumb to understand them.
That is the role of government.
And that is why I, as a liberal, support government.
Why would you expect to get a rundown on the seven public options from TPM? It's not a policy information clearing site. It's a left-leaning political ironic-satire/commentary site.
I don't know why you'd criticize a satire/commentary site for not acting like factcheck(dot)org or politifact(dot)com. It's like criticizing Garry Larson for drawing cartoons of bugs without discussing their entomological classifications.
whether you think the health bill is good or not does not detract from the point that the republicans have been saying no and been obstructionists from the get go. and that they put forth no plan of thier own. so what does this tell you about republicans?
People have objections totally unrelated to party lines, puppets, 9th grade educations and meanness.
I wonder why Congress won't clean up their estimated 10 billion dollars per year waste and fraud in Medicaid before attempting to "fix" health insurance with a reform that is not even meeting their original intent. This power grab is about something other than taking care of Americans.
When most of America wants the option to buy into a plan run by the government, why should we be looking at alternatives?
Honestly, the public option is a great compromise between people who want a single-payer system and those that like their current health insurance system.
The problem is that Obama likes to start with the compromise, trying to reach across the isle from the start, and the way politics is today, he needed to start with single-payer so he could compromise to the public option
Damn that's good stuff, Americans like you are not vocal enough, I hope you are not a small minority but a quite one. And also taking responsibility, very nice!
It's amazing how the republican party, which is going down the drain and loses support every day because of their extremist dumb nah-saying ideas (or lack of), can still prevent the democrates from passing a perfectly fine bill.
P-us: republicans are the minority & can't stop a thing except the cowardly democrats know the American people are not going to stand for any more rape of their wallet and will vote the bums out. Both Dems & Reps bums they are and bums they be. Throw them all out, arrest the fed, seize their assets and jail all those that rob the treasury. Too much govt & too much tax. tj
I think Republicans are taking strength from the disgusted outrage of conservatives - many of whom are not supporting the Republican party. Democrats and Republicans are nearly interchangeable creatures.
No, he just saw what happened to the campaign finances of the Blue Dog Democrats over the last couple of months and realized that it might be a good idea to consider the wishes of his Democratic base ONCE in awhile. Even if it's only paying lip service.
It makes a nice change of pace from CONSTANTLY worrying about what the lobby groups think of you.

Harry Reid, kicking ass. he might get slaughtered in his next election, but i commend him going down fighting for the PUBLIC OPTION! :)
asphyxiafeeling 2 years ago
whether you think the health bill is good or not does not detract from the point that the republicans have been saying no and been obstructionists from the get go. and that they put forth no plan of thier own. so what does this tell you about republicans?

justonemorename,
People have objections totally unrelated to party lines, puppets, 9th grade educations and meanness.
I wonder why Congress won't clean up their estimated 10 billion dollars per year waste and fraud in Medicaid before attempting to "fix" health insurance with a reform that is not even meeting their original intent. This power grab is about something other than taking care of Americans.

That's not Reid; it's a man baby! Sorry in advance for the played out reference. I couldn't help myself.

Go Harry Reid! I'd love to hear Obama go there as well.

His talk makes out they have no plan, it starting to seem to me they wont look at the alternatives just public option.. hmm
martinaoe2 2 years ago
When most of America wants the option to buy into a plan run by the government, why should we be looking at alternatives?
Honestly, the public option is a great compromise between people who want a single-payer system and those that like their current health insurance system.
The problem is that Obama likes to start with the compromise, trying to reach across the isle from the start, and the way politics is today, he needed to start with single-payer so he could compromise to the public option

It's amazing how the republican party, which is going down the drain and loses support every day because of their extremist dumb nah-saying ideas (or lack of), can still prevent the democrates from passing a perfectly fine bill.

Are you really that stupid? they can't pass it because there's Dems who don't support it ASSCLOWN!!!!!..now get a HELMET RETARD!!!!!!!!!

Too much govt & too much tax. tj

Phyrexious,
I think Republicans are taking strength from the disgusted outrage of conservatives - many of whom are not supporting the Republican party.
