I prefer this version because I don't like Chris's voice so much (no offence, just my humble opinion), because I'm hooked on Marko's voice and because this is so good LIVE cover. Usually I don't like covers, much less live covers, so this one is really awesome (Tobacco Road cover rocks as well).

Personally I much prefer Chris Cornell's version although it's hard to make a direct comparison as both takes on the song are very different. Chris's is a lot gritter which suits Daniel Craig's equally gritty and more emotional take on Bond. His song also really echos the film score as well if you listen closely (although not surprising seeing as he worked with David Arnold on it.) It's also a lot more orchestral.

POTF's version is a lot smoother though, which suits their style. For me: CC.

Whether you like this version better or the Chris Cornell version depends on what kind of rock vocals you like. Cornell has a much more gritty raspy sound, which makes expression much more visible. Marko is much more melodic of a singer, and that's okay too. Honestly, both versions are amazingly catchy and good, but I have to say that the Instrumentation is better in Cornell's version and as akprasad1 said, Chris's style is way too perfect for conveying the viciousness of the song. 9/10

Only Chris could convey the viciousness and the shades of grey this song refers to. POTF's version was more like one with the edges smoothened and polished off!

Quite frankly, I think this is just as good as Cornell's version. Really, both versions are great in their own way. This version has a sort of smoothness about it, while Cornell's version has more power.

This is so good cover. So PotF Style. They did awesome job with this. :) Mark's voice is just fit for songs like this. I like this better the original one.

Cover's are meant to be done in your own style, giving credit to who ever wrote and performed the song originally.

i think if one hears both versions without knowing which one was the first one (and also without relating it to bond- because then chris cornell´s orchestrated version fits way better), one would think, this one is the real one- it´s nicely done and it´s clean.

but in my opinion, chris cornell´s version is still better after all regarding the main context: it´s written for a bond movie, it has the certain "it" and it´s a brillant piece of song writing!

i like this, but i do like Chris Cornell's better. Reason being that the original one was for Casino Royale, and was a theme for the reinvented James Bond Character. Because the new Bond has a rugged roughness to his character, Chris's version completely captured that roughness. This version is great too, but the clean-ness works against it in this case. :) PS I do love this group.

hmm a lot of people are really quick to say that this version is without a doubt better. honestly they really didn't do much to it to make it theirs except adapt the orchestration to fit their band and change the key. a key which puts the vocal range in a place which is attainable by just about any singer. i guess my point is that it's a matter of personal preference, i just feel that chris "goes for it" more not to mention i've become increasingly interested in david arnold's bond scores.

They didn't put it in BECAUSE THIS VERSION DIDN'T EXIST. It's a COVER, the song was written for the movie, so they couldn't have put in a song made after in the movie. Plus, being a cover means it came after and was based on his version. You have to give credit for Cornell writing it. I think it's an OK cover, although I still prefer Cornell's version.

I think this is more of a gothic rock version of it, sadder in a way. But not better. Both versions are amazing. I applaud Chris Cornell for setting the mood of Casino Royale with his version, and I thank Poets of the Fall for giving their fans even more reason to love them. The originality in Marko's voice is unrivaled.

This is awesome. Poets of the Fall should have done the theme song for Quantum of Solace. I'm not too impressed with "Another Way to Die." A song like "Diamonds for Tears" would have been incredible. Maybe next time.

Awesome!! I was thinking the same as you, KingOfFools, but then I got to the chorus. I don't think Marko's voice suits the verses but hearing it with the effect (is it a reverb or a layered effect?) in the chorus sounds incredible. Wow, between this and the acoustic D4T that was uploaded to Youtube a few days ago (sorry, forget who posted it), I'm growing to love POTF even more now. And I didn't even think that was possible.
