  • How well I remember the transistor radio thing. I put mine under my pillow too. One night John R. played a set of songs and they were on the following labels. Duke, Backbeat, Sureshot and Songbird.

  • @oldielover48 Those were some good times.

  • @oldielover48

    I'm right there with u!

  • @oldielover48 I did the same thing and listened to John R too.

  • Yep, bought loads of records from Randy's Record Shop and this was one. Thankful to have lived in a time when all this great music was popular. We will never see or hear its like again.

  • @oldielover48 You are probably right about that. Living in North Carolina I could get WLAC clearly fairly often and would go to sleep with a transistor radio earbud in my ear, tuned to WLAC! Late at night they played a lot of blues. I got my copy of this great record in one of their specials, 6 records for about $3. It included one by Roscoe Shelton I liked, and others. I uploaded a broadcast featuring deejay John R and a record by Albert Washington.

  • How did mountains not move when SB sang? What a great voice! What a great song!
