Dear goodness. o.o Dude, under a stress test that put my CPU under an immense load pushed my temperatures to no higher than 60. Are yours averaging at 70C?
Further, my H50 is with the tubes on the bottom, and that's because of my motherboard/case setup. It depends on your mobo and case on how you need to orient your cooler grill.
I don't see the performance advantage. My cpu ( AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE) doesn't come near 60c even under full load. I'm just using a thermaltake spin q.
@POPCORN454545 It may not be needed but you putting a foil laundry hose in your system like that only makes the system have to work harder then without it. You're not gaining anything but less space for airflow within the system. Moreover, it makes your system look untidy and cheap.
@SATANECRONOMICUS False. It keeps hot air out of you're case, so you're gpu's and everything stay a lot cooler. And the dryer hose has fans in it to force air....it works better than without one. Go ask someone who knows something about air flow. Probably an airplane designer or some shit. If you can efficiently move the air through the radiator, through the tube, and out the case, you're doing fine.

You should do this mod, it fits you.

Those temps are high for that kind of setup. H50s come stock with a rough contact base and need to be lapped. After lapping the cooler base, you'll see a big drop in temps.

this is stupid , why the hell would you take outside air and force it through a radiator and then back through the case? That and why four fans? Route the duct from the bottom and force all the air out through the radiator mounted to the rear port using one fan!. beings those fans don't push that well you gotta pull with them so rear panel, fan, radiator, duct. air flow is going out the back panel!, better yet, fuck water cooling and just go for a thermal electric CPU cooler like the V10 I have!

His voltage is way to high for 4.0ghz. He either has a CPU that cannot handle running OC's at low voltages or he didn't bother trying to lower it. He should be running 4.0ghz at 1.26v easy.
@ktosi11 he doesnt have any airflow for the rest of the hot air in his case he's just concerned about cpu cooling but the hot air in his comp is stagnent. I would suggest doing this setup but leaving a large hole in the air duct to allow rising hot air to be pulled out by the top 200mm fan i think it is. that duct is a good idea though. Im going to think about that when I make my build
@ktosi11 You running a 2500k or 2600k? if you actually paid attention he's running a C0 i7 920. Which runs considerably hotter than any Sandy bridge chip. Especially a C0 chip which requires more voltage than a D0 to hit 4ghz.. 70 degrees is respectable actually. For 1.35v that's great.

damn those temps at only 1.35v and 4.0ghz. LMFAO, my C0 notorious for being very hot at 1.45v with hyper212+ push pull reaches 90c max. Currently with a custom water loop 980x is about 65c max with 1.43v and 4.46ghz

And as far as general knowledge goes, the heat IS being exhausted out...out the top where heat RISES. Man you people are fucking stupid. Cool air is drawn in through the rear, and exhausted out the top where heat rises, so that it does not add heat to the case so you're GPU's can stay cooler. Aswell as you're motherboard and shit. Get a fucking brain.
3 fans in a push and pull arrangement is a bit too much, one fan would be ok since you are getting a small pressure drop through the ducting and across the radiator. The second fan will give a small ammount of boost in cfm, the third is just basically spinning it's blades and not pulling air. Where your stock fan is, either add a small piece of tap or rubber to add resistance between the two pieces, problem solved.
why didn't you just have it blow the air out the back of your case? wouldn't that have been way more simple? no silly ducting and crap to get in the way.

As the external fan draws in cooler air blowing it across the radiator, the vent hose is funneling the heated air from the radiator out of the top of the case instead of letting it blow around inside, the way some grphx cards do that dont vent their heat out the rear of the case.

Those temps are high for that kind of setup. H50s come stock with a rough contact base and need to be lapped. After lapping the cooler base, you'll see a big drop in temps.

this is stupid , why the hell would you take outside air and force it through a radiator and then back through the case? That and why four fans? Route the duct from the bottom and force all the air out through the radiator mounted to the rear port using one fan!. beings those fans don't push that well you gotta pull with them so rear panel, fan, radiator, duct. air flow is going out the back panel!, better yet, fuck water cooling and just go for a thermal electric CPU cooler like the V10 I have!

His voltage is way to high for 4.0ghz. He either has a CPU that cannot handle running OC's at low voltages or he didn't bother trying to lower it. He should be running 4.0ghz at 1.26v easy.

I would suggest doing this setup but leaving a large hole in the air duct to allow rising hot air to be pulled out by the top 200mm fan i think it is. that duct is a good idea though. Im going to think about that when I make my build

@ktosi11 You running a 2500k or 2600k? if you actually paid attention he's running a C0 i7 920. Which runs considerably hotter than any Sandy bridge chip. Especially a C0 chip which requires more voltage than a D0 to hit 4ghz.. 70 degrees is respectable actually. For 1.35v that's great.

Cool air is drawn in through the rear, and exhausted out the top where heat rises, so that it does not add heat to the case so you're GPU's can stay cooler. Aswell as you're motherboard and shit. 3 fans in a push and pull arrangement is a bit too much, one fan would be ok since you are getting a small pressure drop through the ducting and across the radiator. The second fan will give a small ammount of boost in cfm, the third is just basically spinning it's blades and not pulling air. Where your stock fan is, either add a small piece of tap or rubber to add resistance between the two pieces, problem solved.

As the external fan draws in cooler air blowing it across the radiator, the vent hose is funneling the heated air from the radiator out of the top of the case instead of letting it blow around inside, the way some grphx cards do that dont vent their heat out the rear of the case.
