great job dude im doing a transcription of it myself and getting up to speed is hard, i wont be able to do the original speed, glad too see their isnt a bunch of lame comments comparing it to heifetz or vengerov or something, im sure its super hard on the violin, its also pretty damn hard on guitar, which ones harder? who cares
Dude, respect! really! But just know it is a thousand times harder on violin. i do play both guitar and violin (altough i admit my guitar skills are suite basic :)) and i an tell u violin is guitar times 789! you ar just playing all the notes now (i repeat, all due respect 4 that), but on a violin (without distortion) you here every little mistake, and you still have to make music!
Dude. There is a link IN THE DESCRIPTION to a transcription I made abouta year ago, hosted on Ultimate-Guitar. It is the very first thing in the description.
First of all, I can read! I wasn't referring to this transcription necessarily but if you're the type (like myself) to work on transcriptions, it would be a cool thing to swap some of the works we've done. If you're going to simply direct me to something I looked at before I even pressed play then forget my sincere gesture and forget your transcriptions as well!
Oh right, I get you now. I understood your initial comment to be "Can you possible share some tabs" with "we" being used in the royal sense. The follow up comment also implied that you had not read the description and were intending to create your own transcription.
I get a lot of comments asking me for transcriptions and people never read the damn description to find them, so I apologise for misunderstanding.
Though I don't routinely transcribe pieces, I have made a few others, all are on UG.
Don't worry about it, I just got slightly defensive. I always read the info because I usually upload rare music and like to include liner notes or quotes from literature pertaining to the said piece of music.
I am pretty fond of transcribing pieces for violin, flute and clarinet, I also do the occasional Alkan piano piece here and there. I was assuming, considering you transcribed Wieniawski, that you had other transcriptions to share.
Actually, this was a one off thing. I was preparing pieces for a high school music performance assessment of romantic/classical music and saw a video of Heifetz playing this tune. Thought that it'd be a nice change from all the Paganini that other guitarists seem to do from that period.
Most of the other stuff I've transcribed has been progressive metal or jazz fusion and is likely of no use to you.
No use to me? Have you seen my videos, I play a wide array of styles my friend. Anything is of use to a learning musician. Just check out my vid Couple of Licks, my Giant Steps cover or my etude. There's a wide array in there, on top of the classical Bach and Alkan covers.
No use to me, where do you get that impression from?
that deff doesnt make it harder, if that's what you're saying. violinists play it much faster and have a harder time in terms of accuracy, since there obviously arent frets on a violin.
this is fucking awesome, though, it must've taken forever to tab out!
The only place I found where tapping was practical was in that last octave skipping part. If you think you've found a better place, go ahead and arrange it for tapping. I'd be interested to see what you come up with.
im also working on a transcription of this...to answer the question of how to get just the piano part for this, download the midi, import into reason sample the piano part with a piano patch
Well ultimately its a technically challenging piece on any instrument, but the real hard part is to give it all musical development and coherence on violin. I mean sure its hard as hell to play, but then you have to interpret that ridiculous blur of notes, which means giving the phrases direction, and its hard enough playing them as it is. Heifetz does all of this perfectly T.T
you are fucking great! you are such an ispiration.. it's to hard for me to play it on violin although i've been playing for 12 years.. but im gonna try again thanks to you =)
Nice....I play both, id say guitar is a much easier instrument to play. I learnt fire and flames on guitar, that was harder than any violin piece tho! HOLY FUCKING SHIT HAHAHAHA you cant say that if you play violin!
Well, its actually probably a lot easier to play it in a violin (the instrument for which it was written), mainly because there's much less fingerboard distance to be covered. Also the arpeggio shapes are more optimised for tuning in fifths, rather than fourths. I had to make a lot of adjustments to play it on the guitar, particularly in the ending.
I see some points there, but in my opinion, it's easier to coordinate a guitar in general. Otherwise, to the fifths, that's true, and can see your point there.
hey buddy, you have frets, we don't. Our bow pressure, flexibility, intonation and tons of other things are factors. No offense or anything, but its wayyyy harder to play on a string instrument...
True, intonation matters. But on the subject of bow pressure, have you ever played a guitar with really tall frets? If you hit to hard, especially on legato sequences, the pitch can be off by as much as 50 cents, which is pretty dramatic, that's basically have the way to sharp.
Flexibility? The fretboard on the guitar is longer than the fretboard on the violin, which means more distance to cover in long runs. Additionally, arp shapes played on a guitar are quite different to those of violin.
Pretty much every talking point for it being harder on violin can be countered by something comparable for a guitarist, but what it comes down to is this: You physically cannot play that end octave run the way it is written for violin on a guitar, that's why I tapped it. For that reason alone, it is more difficult.
yo dude, i play both instruments, they are both hella hard anywais, in diff ways, lols. just depends on wat type of music u like, u'll defend the one u like...duh, but just in my oppinion, the EG version is sick. great goin man.
@aria099 A guitar technically is a string instrument. And yes, I do agree that it's harder on the violin. But if you wanted to make it sound like metal, you'd have to screw around on an electric violin. Therefore, guitar.
If speak about professional music, so you play not bag but there is no "P" "F" some time's wrong intonation, so slow tempo, and the quality of sound not good. It's standart music, (becouse wieniawski writed for violin and piano) you play not bad
This is great. I am just starting to learn this on guitar. I am glad I am not the only one who tried to play this. At least I am not alone figuring it out.
I should really post a better one of this, I was tired as hell when I did this, and I realise I was a little out of time/tune too. Hahaha. Expect a new one.
