  • You may have said that a talking crow would be absurd, but in the original graphic novel, the crow actually talks, and it works quite well.

  • Love the video but one little thing bugged me. The Dark Knight was not in fact Heath Ledger's last film. His last film was Terry Gilliam's "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus." he died during filming and Johnny Depp, Jude Law and colin farrell all stepped in to help complete the film.

  • Haven't seen the movie, but just a thought that the reason only his invulnerability is gone is because since his murderers are dead, he's supposed to die again but he still exists in the condition he was brought back in, so he get's to keep his other powers.

  • 6/10

It was a disappointing movie for me, with a lot up missed opportunitys.

  • "Look what you've done to my sheets!"

  • Note:The man who played Gideon also voiced Jim Corrigon's boss in the DC Showcase short film of The Spectre with the great Gary Cole providing the voice of Jim/The Spetre

  • It's because Eric's crow was hurt by Top Dollar's sister/lover but it wasn't killed whitch is differrent form fellow crow Alex Corvis' situation, his being once he killed "the man with the scar" his powers start to go and it takes the combined efforts of his cow and Erin Randall (Kirsten Dunst) to make him realize he killed the wrong jackass.

  • THE COMIC IS JUST TOTALY AWESOME

  • very well done review. i like alot of ur reviews. and this one rocked.

  • Very nice review; thanks so much for making it. I first saw this film on TV when I was 16 or so, and its held a special place in my heart ever since. I love the core story of it, but I do think some aspects were unnecessary (the brief nudity and excessive language, for example).

  • Good review. I feel like watching it again. Haven't seen it for years.

  • 10:09 so did punisher

  • Can't Wait

  • so you will review batman arkham asykum?

  • The great thing about these rewinds is alot of times you often introduce me to movies Iv either never heard of or know little about.

  • Thanks for the reply Cap, appreciate it! Keep up the good work especially with the Rewinds very good series of videos!

  • Cap I was one of your earliest subscribers and have asked you on no less than 5 occasions do you intend on doing a masters of the universe 1987 review yet you have never answered. Then I see you immedietly answer the question on watchmen below?? Is there any reason why my question has been rudely ignored each time?

  • @Darzzzzzzz1 Nope-- I sure thought I've answered that question, though it may not have been you asking it. Yes, I probably will do Masters of the Universe. It's as much a superhero movie as some other things I've done.

Really sorry if you felt you were being ignored, and thank you very much for subscribing and watching all this time.

  • A great review for a great movie.

  • are you going to review watchmen

  • @morebeerful Yes, probably end of this year, early next year.

    -CL

  • i thought the crow 2 and 3 are good

  • Are you going to review the horrible sequels this movie spawned?

  • @BiggestATLAfan lol Not sure yet.

    -CL

  • @BiggestATLAfan hey the sequels were good in my opinion

  • Man Cap, this was one of your best reviews. good reference/connection point comparing the Joker (Heath) and Crow, because I was thinking that looking at the still-shots Brandon here, but it's cool that it's more than just face-paint the two chars/actors have/had in common. be sure to throw a reference back to Crow during The Dark Knight review :b keep'em comin'...

  • will you review the toxic avenger ? have you even seen it ?

  • @invinciblerodan101 *sigh* I dunno. Probably have to since it's technically a superhero, but I *really* don't like Troma, lol

    -CL

  • The Crow still holds up, as It's one of the 1st comic book movie adaptations that stayed true to its original source material.

  • Are you going to be reviewing Batman Under the Red Hood?

  • @Zazubaar Yep, eventually. It's still a little new.

    -CL

  • One more thing, and I'm trying not to nit pick but it's actually incredibly obvious why Draven becomes mortal in the film... the crow is shot. The Crow is the source of his immortality.

  • Its implied in the movie that his love for Sara gives him the power to defeat Top Dollar.

  • Also Brandon's death wasn't because of a life round stuck in the barrel, but rather a dead round stuck in the barrel. A stunt bullet had been placed in the gun and fired, but the actual bullet never left the barrel, instead being inserted, so when they put in the blank behind it, it had enough force to push the round out.

  • @daftbottv

Yeah, that's closer to what I heard. As per Wikipedia (dare we trust it?):

Lee was mortally wounded when a dummy bullet, which had become lodged in one of the prop guns, was shot into his abdomen by a blank cartridge.

  • @KamisamanoOtaku yeah you should trust it because that's from the medical report and official release from the family. That's how it happened.

  • But remember CL right before The Crow lost his invulnerability his Crow was shot and wounded. But obviously his Crow isn't an ordinary Crow, so soon after it started to heal, and I noticed The Crows powers began to return.

    That's what I saw.

  • @Saberoph Yeah, thanks. I missed that.

    -CL

  • @Geekvolution It's kool. Loved the review though, I think what you, Sarah and Vance are doing is great for us fans...

  • DareDevil didn't rip off the flaming signal moment. It was an homage, commentary says so. By the way, Proyas has lifted entire scenes from movies and transplanted them into his films, including the final fight in The Crow from Nosferatu and a whole lot more. I guess he ripped those off too right?

  • Superhero Rewind: Speed Racer (2008)

  • You should really read the comic. It's a lot a lot a lot a lot more violent and darker and seems to make a lot more sense to me and seems just as developed as the movie but in a different way.

  • WOW are you actually reviewing Arkham Asylum!? Lol teasing us like that and here I was thinking you would never review a video game :)

  • Being from Detroit I hated the picture that this film painted of my city, an image that stands to this day. But I love the film, every time I see it I am transfixed by the atmosphere it generates. Having watched most of your reviews I am wondering when you plan to review Blade Trinity, I am curious to hear our thoughts on that film.

  • when are you going to do the dark knight

  • @morebeerful he's said that he'll do it more-so near the release of the Dark Knight Rises... personally, i just want'em to do it as soon as possible lol, just because it's TDK, but it's his choice...

  • i have not seen part 3 but i though the crow 2 was good

  • Are you going to a Superhero Rewind for all The Crow movies, even though they are terrible? I still think it would be interesting

  • why not the dark knight

  • I always thought "Big Empty" by Stone Temple Pilots was the main theme. I guess that came from it being the song that they used in all the trailers, and all my friends and i refereed to it as "The Crow" song. Strange unimportant side note, the soundtrack was like the 2nd CD i ever purchased as a pre-teen.

Great review for a great movie.

  • *watching the ending* "...my god"

  • good movie...such a shame there was...sequels

  • the next rewind (is it?) is gonna be awesome! And waddya know you're gonna do it the day before arkham city comes out

The Crow is definitely a movie I need to watch.

  • Something tells me Batman Arkham Asylum will only be a one off thing, as a video game review. Although IMO it is one of the few video games with a plot that is almost movie quality.

  • Awesome review of one of my favorite movies.

  • One of my all time favorites. Im against the idea of a reboot, mainly because this one was done justice, and to honor Brandon Lee. But if it does have to be rebooted, i will only accept it if its done by my dream team: either Jared Leto or Joseph Gordon Levitt as Eric, David Fincher directing, and the story based closer to the graphic novel.

If you do get a chance, Cap, pick up the graphic novel. It was a pretty good read.

  • Truly an all-time classic is "The Crow" and Cap showed us why. I completely agree with the 4/4.

  • The whole Darker, darker, darker premise is racist hollywood at its finest. It just adds to the whole notion that dark anything has to be bad and awful. Its past old at this point.

  • Awsome man, I´ve been waiting for this for a long time, I´m the one who asked you if this was considered a Superheroe movie some time ago (in case you remember). As a kid I loved this movie and Brandon Lee was my hero... in many ways he still is.

  • I really liked this one, it`s sad that the sequels aren`t as good :)

  • Are You going to review "The Fantastic Four (1994)" ?

  • @Christian39521 Yep. Not sure when yet, but it's on the list!

    -CL

  • @Geekvolution hold off on fantastic four. incase we get a reboot soon. lol

  • @SnoocheeBoochees

Even if a reboot was announced tomorrow, it'd be around two years before it would ever be released. I say he should go for it regardless.

  • It's about time you reviewed this, Cap! xD

  • Awesome movie huge cult following....great review RIP Lee....that guitar solo from the movie always sticks in my mind i loved it this solo transmite...sad...HATE...pain....and REVENGE!!

  • Cap, have you read the Crow graphic novel? Its 5 times better than the movie, and the movie was pretty damn good.

  • Aaaaaaaaw yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaah Arkham Asylum!

  • This is the review i've been waiting for :D Thanks Cap Logan!

  • Arkham Asylum!!?? WHAT?!

  • ok this gets to be in superhero rewind but v for vendetta doesn't ?

  • @magpie2541 I probably will do that eventually.

    -CL

  • @Geekvolution ok its just when i suggested it you weren't going to do it

  • There is something I want you to watch and decide if its the truth or not:

    Type in therealericdraven.

The guy says he's the real erik draven, the inspiration the crow came from. How

    do you think about it?

  • um dark knight wasn't actually Heath Ledger's last film, he actually died in the middle of the production of "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus " it was completed in a way that makes sense but I'm sure the original Idea was different :/

  • @wildfilms365 Yeah, I know. I guess I should have said "last finished film."

    -CL

  • @Geekvolution I find it sort of scary and coincidental as well. That both Brandon and his Father Bruce died on the eve of movies that would have brought them the international fame stardom and notoriety that would define them for generations. Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon is what defined him as an icon and Brandon Lee's the Crow would have been THE film that launched his career to the brightest lights. And it is on the eve's of their greatest successes that they perished. Truly sad :(

  • Also, I'm surprised you didn't touch on the subject of incest between the main villain and his sister!

Oh cewl are you review Arkham Asylum as a movie or as a game?!

  • @BoooRatt I'll be primarily focusing on the story.

    -CL

  • @Geekvolution Wicked! I liked the story in the game. Even though the comci it was loosely based on had a different ending and subplot!

  • I hate to be nit-picky but technically Dark Knight wasn't Ledger's last film he died while he was filming that Dr. Parnassious movie that everyone said stunk!

  • The reason he lost his healing powers and retained mst of his others isn't because his mission was complete it was because the crow that holds his soul was injured! They made it pretty clear in this movie and all the ripoff sequls that if thier crow is injured or dies they become mortal agian! See City of Angels!

  • @BoooRatt Oh, all right. I missed that-- thanks.

    -CL

  • @Geekvolution Ya'll are welcome! I hate to be nitpicky but you seem to have taken it for a higher meaning than what it was!

  • I really enjoyed the "nothing's trivial" conversation. It's not just enough to exist, LIVE.

  • I think the movie reinstates its message about love, because that is the power of love. It's an uplifting power that you would feel as a friend, a spouse, or especially as a parent. The tradgedy (i.e., Eric and Shelley's deaths) in this movie is an attention getter to convey people to understand that you should value the simple things of life before they're gone.

  • Yay you reviewed the Crow! Now, time to wait for your Watchmen review. It'll probably take you a month to analyze that entire film lol

  • Fantastic movie is fantastic.

And I don't think Eric is a "Superhero." He is, however, a hero with superpowers. To me, a "Superhero" is someone with superpowers that fights for the idea of justice. Whether that be in the form of beating up bad guys or protesting or whatever.

I love Superhero Rewind by the way! <3 Great review as always, Cap! :3

  • He does seem like a hero to me.

  • Thanks for the great review Cap! Alex Proyas made to really good films this and dark city. You should defiantly check that out, it's like a film noir movie set in the future.

  • @maxonfire67 I didn't realize Dark City was his as well! That's on my list of things I need to see.

    -CL

  • I'm second and I don't care! This is the review we've all been waiting for!!! Thanks Captain Logan!!! By the way, your book is awesome!!!

  • @Crimson28 Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it. Please tell your friends!

    -CL

  • whoo, first! also, i love the crow, great film
