  • Who is this SEXY Lady in this band XXX

  • @Tuber71You Susannah Melvoin, twin sister of Wendy Melvoin, of Wendy and Lisa.

  • Gotta love the '80s for songs like this! My favorite song off the album.

  • @diznice I did wear mine out...

  • Have the original album....want the CD

  • omg I use to WEAR this Tape out on my pink walkman, lol.. every damn song

  • Great - great album, don't know why it was mysteriously discontinued.

This album is everything that was awsome about most of the music of the 80's - what a creative period.

That was a time when most performers actually played an instrument.

Today it's a bunch of dip-shits with their pants pulled down - talking a bunch stupid ignorant crap.

  • @41ofus Hey man, I actually found the 12-inch vinyl of this album (1985) in an oldies shop in Spartanburg, SC -- NO SCRATCHES! I had to pull my record player out of the dusty boxes. This is real music!!! Too bad they diappeared so quickly -- but I heard a comeback is around the corner....

  • @chunkybacker I think they did something in 2007. Would have been nice to see.

  • Did you record the drums with a pillow, and a microphone?

  • @ Inquire ... ;-) Go and google Fdeluxe ;-))) or look them up on Facebook

  • this was such a great album - paisley park was creating magic then. u agree?

  • @cbruns71471 Yes they sure was but then we all heard what happened....we can only speculate :(

  • @cbruns71471 I feel Paisley Park would have gone a long way had Prince not tried to do everything himself (although he is a musical genius). he has had lots of talent in his camp, from Morris Day, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Wendy and Lisa, Jill Jones, Dez, Andre and Sheila E. just to name a few. Just think if he gave these people more room to produce and create within Paisley Park. he would have been a serious force to reckon with even today :)

  • I love this album, I wonder what ever happened to them.

  • @Inquire703 They released one new song last summer. Maybe a new CD will be soon???

  • @mawgojzeta this shit is tight as hell...trumps anything Pop today; if they come out with a CD it needs this flavor.

  • Claire Fischer string arrangements are the dopest.

  • Used to have two copies of this album when it first came out, but they were stolen by friends. Then a couple of years ago, I was at Amoeba Records in West Hollywood. I found 7 copies of the album and bought them all. St. Paul just had the most amazing voice. Loved this album that much.

  • What an incredible find!! Couldnt find it on itunes. Been lookin bout 5 yrs!!!

  • Please post The Family's song "YES"! I love that 1!!!

  • I have this album! lol! I may still have the cassette somewhere also! Wow. Memories.

  • I played the album, yes wax, for hours everyday after school along with Sheila E's album released the same year. After listening to this I will be visiting my parents' to look for these in my old music room.

  • Classic Album!! Lobe this song too!

  • this album is amazing! I have it on cassette still to this day. LOL

  • St. Paul sounded really good on this record!

  • @therealraybaby He is a teacher at my college.

  • @GuitarMan3292 Really! What college & state is that?

  • @therealraybaby Minneapolis Media Institute in MN

  • @GuitarMan3292 I would kill for that. I have the cassette tape still, but it barely plays

  • @themysteryrapper I would kill for that. I have the cassette tape still, but it barely plays

  • @themysteryrapper I would kill for that. I have the cassette tape still, but it barely plays

  • This whole song should've been slow like in the first part. Once it speeds up I always just start it over and then go to another song once I've had my fill.

  • Great cut off the album.... definitely my favorite. Thanks for posting!

  • Yes, the best....

  • I will always love this song!!! That beat when the vocal kicks in!!! Fabulous. Nice blend of Susannah's and St. Paul's vocals!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks for sharing this gem!!!

  • im offering a FREE CD copy of this Album to anyone whom can give me a copy of Strange Relationship (the original version not on SOTT) this version was once posted on this site....or a copy of the Black Album by Prince...and I am SERIOUS

  • @sheilaboy44 Got the Black Album WANT this one....

  • perfection from one of the most underrated albums of this era.

  • perfection from one of the most underrated albums of this era.

  • I found this LP in a sh** hole "oldies store", and it plays beautifully. No skipping or scratches! I lost my mind -- how do I transfer it to a CD or MP3?

  • @chunkybacker

At BJ's they have a LP disc recording or what ever u call it that plays LP's. and it has something in it to transfer the LP to your computer and then from the computer to a cd. but just in case go look and read it yourself there in BJ's. -Chris

  • I have this on LP

  • I use to jam this in my ride back when, 1985 I think on the way to art school! Nice cut and memories!

  • Is there any chance that you can upload "Yes" and "Desire"? You can't download this album anywhere and thanks to you I now have 6 of the 8 songs on it. :-)

  • Wow! OMG! Thank you. Thank you!!! Thank you so much for posting. I had this album. It was great!! I ABSOLUTELY loved them and prayed for the longest that they would get back together, until I finally just gave up the dream. This was my FAVORITE song!!! It's just beautiful and so unique. I miss and love you, St. Paul and Susannah - come back, come back......> :-(

  • @TheSupernova247

In wiki, they said they are making a album, but the family said that in 2007. they are reunited. only sings live but not making songs i guess right now. just read it in wikipedia

  • @hbk185 Hi. How are you? Wow!! Well, thanks so much for letting me know. It is good to hear that they are back performing, but I wish they would release another CD. This one was really good, and they're fans really miss them. I wonder where do they perform now. I'm going to see if there is a website. Thanks again. > :-)

  • OMG I love this album!! I have had a hard time finding anyone else who has ever even heard of them!! THANK YOU!!

  • This is one of the most under appreciated undiscovered Songs of Prince Ever!! and the orchestration by Clare Fischer is Magnificent their sounds compliment each other so wonderfully. Paul & Sue are hypnotic especially in Ivory tower.....So long have we been together so little do we know..

  • @Cosmictalk ""Desire""

  • @Cosmictalk Bobby Z, the drummer for the Revolution, actually wrote this particular song.

  • Best song on an underated cd.....

  • Can you please upload Desire ,Love that track ,

Love this album,Thanks for the tracks already .Cheers

  • I LOVED this entire album, and yes I had the album not the cassette, LOL. Thanks so much for posting.

  • Loved this song..Thanks for posting

  • YES A TRUE CLASSIC !!!!!

  • I LOVE those strings. Claire Fischer's work right?

  • Prince was on a mission when he was riding high in the 80's. Warner Brothers needs to re-master everyone hes ever produced including his recordings as well.

  • @1999Melsar Too bad he Screwed over bands Like The Family.

  • Wow, trip down memory lane! Thanks!

  • Can you please upload Desire, Can't find anywhere.

    Thanks

  • Actually I'm pretty sure Bobby Z wrote this one and leant it to the Family. Then Bobby Z re-recorded it for his own album later.

I mean, come on...listen to those drums. ;)

  • @harvestmoondog yup. he recorded this song on the same demo he recorded the original version of waterfall (gave it to wendy and lisa) on!

  • @harvestmoondog - You know your history of the Family. Hats off to you.

  • I have this on CD, got it as an import....brings back some great memories from the eighties.

  • i have some rare prince dvds, if anybody wants to buy some, message me : )

  • I own purple rain on blu-ray but it only has 8 music videos on special features.

  • @purplehouse26 tell me more????

  • The album for me upon listen was pure earbliss. Nectar for the ears. It's juts a tight, fascinating, butt moving, romantic, funky, classy, elegant mixture with stellar vocals by St. Paul and Susannah.

  • Where do all you bozos know of Prince's inner feelings? This broad is nothing to be heartbroken for over decades. Maybe if he dressed like a man and wore some flats, he'd get her back...

  • I wish I could find this album again. It meant a lot to me .

  • @jaxbaby87 I found it at a place called "Bill's Records and Tapes" in Dallas. He had a couple of copies.

  • Nice! Can u put up "Desire" from this same album? Thanx!

  • Thanks for posting this song. If it were not for the fact that I still own this LP, I would have thought I was going crazy since I *thought* I was the only one who remembered this band. Glad to see that is so-so-so not true!

  • Loved this song. Thanks for posting

  • Prince cheated on Susannah & even though she forgave him it got so bad their relationship suffered. She is happily married but Prince 2x's divorced since. He will always love her...

  • I found out that one can tell Prince's love for Susannah Melvoin by this album cover photo.

He purposely cast shadows on St Paul but not Susannah

and the inset is mostly photos of her

  • I still have the cassette version of this album and only listen to it 4 times a year so it stays nice

  • This is my HOTTEST TRACK off The Family Album

    then Screams of Passion

Everytime I hear it I cry

  • @Hardliner1269 Yes, I totally agree. > :-)

  • When Prince met Wendy's twin Susannah [here] in 1983 he fell head over heels & has never recovered.

She was his muse his inspiration for this kind of music and after.

He regrets losing her to this day

  • This album is excellent from start to finish. Why isn't it available on iTunes?

  • watever became of the guy???? Was he Lisa's Brother??? This was classic album!

  • No. The guy is St. Paul (Peterson). He is now a session musician. The girl (Susannah Melvoin) is Wendy's sister. Their brother was unfortunately killed by a drug overdose when he was a session keyboardist for the Smashing Pumpkins.

  • Love Clair Fisher's additions....strings

bring it...nothing like The Family. xo -c-c-

  • classic prince

  • This was the jam!!! Everything about this song was deep!!! Bring this back!!!

  • 1:58-2:05 The Maestro himself, Prince, in the background

  • So incredible! This whole album was classic!

  • They were the coolest! I loved that album.

  • I love good strings (or string synths) in pop music. This one & "Telephone Line" by Kraftwerk were my favorites back then.

  • one of the BEST ALBUMS EVER!!!!

  • @airwatts Prince Best Album he never sang!

  • The only reason this clip is here is that Prince didn't write it, so he has no power over it in that sense..

  • Hell yes!!!! So did I!!!!

It still sounds hot as ever

  • Wow! I wore this tape out!

  • my top 3 albums of all time

  • This was one of the best albums ever

  • If Prince knew this was on You Tube...he would have this shut down...This song is hard to find...He won't re-release it. It is Classic!

  • yeah - the cd will run u over a bill on ebay if u can get it.

  • so true, I tried to purchase a CD, I have original LP and the bidding was crazy. I stopped at $50....

  • great album! :) Can't believe I remember the lyrics hehe

  • Absolutely agree with you tubehead357!

  • This CD is a MASTERPIECE! There's not a weak song on the entire CD! A musical work of ART! A must for any collection at any price!

  • prince actually wrote all of these songs he just gave false credit to certain members on such tracks

  • No, I think Bobby wrote this, I just listened to Wendy & Lisa talk about songs for their first album and they actually mentioned River run dry! Very cool. Check out girlbros channel here on you tube..

  • that'

s correct Bobby Z wrote this song he had a versoin on his only solo album back in 1989

  • bet it doesn't beat like this version. this cut was way underrated!

  • OMG!!!I can't believe that I can remember the words 2 this song, also. What ever happened 2 them?

  • I loved this song in the 80s and still love it today - can't believe i still remember the lyrics!

  • Come on...

  • A-M-A-Z-I-N-G...!

Does anybody know wt Bobby Z from the Revolution is up to now??
