  • wtf is nickelback doing on the suggested stuff?

  • True Emo

  • Emo and Goth bosed used to be respectable genres believe it or not, cos when they first came out they were associated with good bands (SDRE, The Cure) and not the shit ones who gave the genres a bad name (My Chemical Romance, H.I.M). I think with both the fashion sense always sucked but that's just my personal taste.

  • @Supaduck0 how are you gonna put The Cure and Sunny Day Real Estate in the same genre?

  • @awsomescoobi I didn't. I mentioned Emo and Goth, as in SDRE (emo) and The Cure (goth)

  • Comment removed

  • @kourosh89 nickelback are awful

  • @kourosh89 and how can you compare Sunny Day Real Estate to Nickelback, they both play very different styles of music

  • @kourosh89 No

  • I used to like Sunny Dy Real Estate but then i took an arrow in the knee

  • @trampcode513 One does not simply make an "arrow in the knee" joke

  • @trampcode513 if you're gonna keep on with that shit at least make it clever.

  • good shit :3

  • There's nothing wrong with emo, but this record is NOT emo. Stop classifying this record as emo. Listen to their later records if you want to keep spewing that "This is emo, I luv it lol"

  • sunny day real estate is the reason (good) emo exists

  • i always thought this was a psychedelic song, mainly because i couldnt figure out what the lyrics were trying to say

    hmmmmmm

    ill taste it...

    in time

    break the mirror i think

    soul reborn?

yeah sounds pretty emo to me

  • @CrimsonRGU lol

  • REAL emo music here peeps!!

  • Old times (velhos tempos)

  • Its real emo band with alternative?

  • Ahhhh when emo meant something.

  • lol, i dont categorize this as anything except "good music" i think you all should do the same!

  • @OurSundayAffairs I WONT LISEN TO THOSE BANDS THEY R DUM

  • @YaqoHomo says the one who can't even spell "dumb". O_O

  • I was researching about emo music, and the only conclusion I can draw is that it doesn't exist! Every band wich is tagged "emo" reject the term, and take it like an insult. It makes no sense, I mean... what is so terrible with being emo? It's just "melodic punk" or something, why do the artist complain that much about it?!

  • @MilenittaTS2 Because its a stupid term since every genre is emotional.

  • @SteaZandPizza Yet there really is something that binds together all the 90s bands labelled 'emo'; a certain emotional openness. All music is inherently emotional, sure; but this is music where singer sounds openly and unabashedly 'emotional' as more of a mood state.

Don't go all through your life writing off things based on one-sentence dismissals that sound good, because there's usually more to it.

  • this whole album is fucking awesome!

  • Favorite SDRE song.

  • i think the album cover means that people will live in there false reality like everything's OK even though it's not. the toaster burning and the people just smiling like plastic

  • this band is awsome :) helped me alot!!!....sew...it on:P

  • the album cover is my family at breakfast

  • where is that image from

  • @secretdesires its the album cover

  • why some people says that this is not emo?

    this is REAL emo.

    101% angst and bad feeling.

why you dont accept the music as the way it is?

  • @MythicalJapan it's pretty useless to clasify music in such a way. most musicians don't understand how people come up with their classification...

  • @needlearmor i know that.

but genre is depending on the listener, so the listener is free to choose the genre to an artist.

emo, punk, rock are just names to the feelings that we feel when listening to someones music.

i feel emotional when i listen to sunny day.

someone is seeing punk or grunge in this.

    its not classifying.

  • @MythicalJapan no this music is classified differently, why don't you accept the music the way it is? see what i did there

  • @needlearmor great emo music i say. what is wrong with that?

    emotional hardcore is genre.

its not me whos classifying, its the genre.

if im wrong, than dont start arguing, cause people have different visions. ok?:))

  • @MythicalJapan lol, don't you mean "Y U NO ACCEPT MUSIC THE WAY IT IS?"?

  • Holy fuck! I love this song!

  • To everyone who says not to label, there isn't a problem with labeling. Correctly categorizing a band is a great way to know where to look for similar artists. If you're not sure exactly what a band is considered, then look them up on the internet, it's really not that hard.

  • @Thatmusictool lol i been doing this ever since i read your comment, thanks, for this method man...

  • The bassist for this band is pretty beast.

  • @e11i0tt5m1thfan Nate Mendel of the foo fighters you mean?

  • I usually like stuff a bit heavier than this - Grungy shit, but I really do love this band. They're damn good.

  • I fucking love this song :)

  • what a bunch of fkn morons - who cares about your dumbass labels - and if you idiots like this - maybe i wont anymore ! FUCK OFF IDIOTS !

  • 2 G

  • haha music is amazing!! dont let trolls get to you. cause honestly they are just haters so its straight.

  • I can kinda see how Thursday was influenced by these guys...good stuff.

  • This is emo music. But who is to say that is a BAD thing? It's only these bratty teenagers cutting themselves and dressing in black that has given emo a bad name... or was that the goths? I can't keep track of 'em anymore.

  • @Petsura Today's "emo" scene is a bastardization of what was created by trailblazers like these guys, Mineral, and Texas is the Reason, among others...

  • @Petsura

    LOL.

Maybe you shouldn't judge people that you don't understand. :)

    That's all I'm saying.

    Nice song by the way.

  • @Petsura lol

  • @Petsura They're called... SCENE KIDS.They kinda give both parties a bad name.

  • what everyone needs to do is shut the fuck up and listen. you derpers can't even hear the musical quality, can you?

  • what a song

  • I fucking love dubstep. WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB *bass drop* WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB

  • @MeinKampfortZone yeah me too. WOB WOB WOB WOB WOB WWWUUUB WOB WOB WOB WOB WOB WOB WWWWUUUBBB. it's 'sick''

  • anyone saying this ISNT emo probably wasn't alive in the 80's.

  • its Indie

  • guys your all wrong this is techno

  • This is emo as fuck. It's also excellent.

  • @HolyKatana This band is a genre that was once known as emo... :p

  • WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT?!

  • I just realized the toaster is on fire... like 3 seconds before the song ended...

  • ok, whoever says it's not emo is retarded, that album helped shape (true) emo. It's only by the 2000's that fucking music industry totally changed the meaning of the emo label

  • @Hubcool367 u are intelligent

  • to the tirds below. christian rock is not emo.

  • @mario1136

He's not talking about Dave Grohl. Dave Grohl is the lead singer of Foo Fighters, not the drummer.

The current bassist, Nate Mendel, and the first drummer, and William Goldsmith, of Foo Fighters both came from Sunny Day Real Estate.

  • @MaidenRocks99 but don´t forget that Dave Grohl was the drummer of Nirvana ;-)

  • @justthespecialguy

Of course I knew that, haha. Nirvana is one of my favorite bands. But I just didn't think Nirvana had anything to do with it other than the guy mixing things up.

  • @MaidenRocks99 I heard they where on the Same CD-Label

  • Who cares what genre it is. I think it's alternative or hard rock

  • @mario1136 its alternative out of the grunge years

  • @machz800ps yeah

  • Yeah, no matter what anyone says, this is emo. Proper emo. The crap kids are calling emo these days isn't emo. Emo kids weren't sad little goth/scenester hybrids. Emo kids were sensitive nerds, and it was awesome.

  • I don't care a shit what genre they are but I would still say this is indie emo...

  • Stop arguing of genre. It's a waste of time.

  • Emo is a genre. It's punk done with emotions. It's nothing like that certain stupid culture.

  • Where did this emo crap come from? They sound like an alternative rock band to me.

  • SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE "SEVEN" IS IN THE ROCK BAND NETWORK! MY LIFE IS COMPLETE!

  • Anyone who listens to this on youtube without buying the actual CD should be ashamed. Me included.

  • @redscarf fuck that, im downloading it.

  • usually im not into psychedelic song cuz theyre stupid but this song is fuckin awesome!

  • It's a shame that people forget that emo was once a good genre before Punk wannabes like Fall Out Boy completly bastardised it.

  • Comment removed

  • who cares what they are its a great fucken song!!!

  • @29repsol Fuckin aye right. fuck all american rejects and fall out boy. they're the counterculture to beautiful music

  • sdre is considered to be in the post grunge alternative genre that was originally called emo. but the meaning emo has changed drastically in the past years. but this is the original emo sound. but who cares what label it is under, emo or not if you like the song for itself, then just listen to it

  • Sunny Day Real Estate's not emo, it's psychadelic gangsta jazz with some bubble gum pop and black metal influences.

  • @CavvyStudios ,,,agreed!!!

  • @CavvyStudios Correction: Jeremy Enigck (the lead singer) invented this sound and named it Emo, the modern day emo took inspiration from him, along with a few other of the first emo bands.

  • @Kweerdaddy i have much respect for Enigck and his work, but he did NOT invent or name the emo genre.

  • @lifecutshort Not the modern bastardized version, no he had nothing to do with that. He only got mimicked, and watered down by the malcontent teen-agers. You drew my attention to a type-o I will apologize for I meant to write he invented this sound, and others named it Emo(the ones who made it crappy).

  • @Kweerdaddy i can agree with that for sure

  • @lifecutshort Lol, word. Yeah the misunderstanding was my fault, actually glad it was pointed out.

  • @Kweerdaddy Uh, actually it was a term coined by accident by Ian MacKaye of Minor Threat. When being interviewed by Thrasher he was asked about the popularity of bands like Rites of Spring, Dag Nasty, Fugazi and other D.C. hardcore/post-hardcore bands because the lyrics were unfamiliar to that scene as a whole. So when asked about what he would call this emotionally-fused hardcore, he jokingly said, "Uh...I guess I'd call it emocore."

  • @flemingia check above posts, I wasn't saying that enigck named the genre, that was a type-o, I'm saying the whole genre plaguerized his work.

  • @cultgirl69 Oh word...misunderstood.

  • Comment removed

  • @CavvyStudios

    No, it's 1st/2nd wave emo.

  • @CavvyStudios basically what emo is LOL. JK they are great but you gotta admit their songs are kind of dramatic

  • @carloselloco84 This album was out of the seatle grunge area like 1993-94 i know i had the cassette tape the drummer moved onto a group you all know as the foo- fighters boy i feel old

  • @machz800ps Grohl never played in this band

He played in Nirvana as the drummer

  • @CavvyStudios

Of course it's emo, it is like a definition of what emo is.

  • @hyperseauton Dude... it was a joke. I wasn't actually serious when I said it was psychadelic gangsta jazz with some bubble gum pop and black metal influences. I was poking fun at all the debate over the proper genre and/or sub-genre label for this music. Music is music. You can pick it apart and pigeon-hole it into neat little labels if you feel like it, I just don't see much need for that.

  • @CavvyStudios

All right, dude. Your reasons for writing the original comment are what youtube comment sections are all about.

  • @CavvyStudios the song is from the good old times when emo was emo and not cheap gay pussy grap, like Billy Talent or My Chemical Romance or Bullet For My Valentine!!!!!!

This is what Emo still should be!!!!

  • @justthespecialguy This is what emo REALLY is.. It is by far the best music genre there is. I can't think of any modern bands that fit this genre as much as Funeral for a Friend.

But Bullet For My Valentine is only called emo cause of their lyrics, which don't really go under the category of emo, but just maybe. Billy Talent has nothing to do with emo. My Chemical Romance is a mix of post-hardcore and pop rock. Great bands, all of them, but NOT emo.

  • @7PlayingWithFire7 (copied and pasted from my last reply to someone who couldn't see that I wasn't serious)

Dude... it was a joke.

  • @7PlayingWithFire7 I will say this much, you can definitely hear SDRE's influence on Paramore however. I been on another SDRE binge while on a Paramore binge as well, and it dawned on me it's like "Holy, shit. ok". Out of all the bigger emo bands like Rites, Moss Icon, Fugazi... SDRE is probably IMO the best and helped forge the modern emo sound, no not pop punk, legit emo.

  • @7PlayingWithFire7 there's nothing post hardcore about MCR. fugazi is what post hardcore sounds like

  • @CavvyStudios Sunny Day Real Estate was emo.. -.- Emo was a music genre, an insanely good one. It's just classified as something negative nowadays because of the retardation of internet. This band is awesome, AND emo! Emo did NOT mean make up, slit wrists, OR long dark hair with hair products! Neither did it mean screaming. It was an awesome music genre with deep emotional lyrics.. Old rock songs didn't have these kinds of lyrics. This genre contained mostly the lyrics which are very popular now

  • lol

  • @CavvyStudios Fag.

  • @Excreations89 ever heard of sarcasm?

  • @CavvyStudios I'm assuming this is sarcastic? Because if so, it's wonderful haha.

  • @StaupEimer Yes, I was being sarcastic. I was just poking fun at everyone getting all worked up about what the proper label for this kind of music is. I don't care too much about putting a label on everything and deciding what's the proper genre title. Music is music. Call it what you want, just enjoy it.

  • @CavvyStudios Of course. It really can get annoying when there's genre battles on youtube comment sections..

  • @CavvyStudios actually fuckup

  • @CavvyStudios 真二百五

  • nah, they're emo, and wtf is psychedelic gangsta JAZZ!?!?!

  • @xXcloudlowellXx you're an idiot

  • @jjesaveluk dude, did my last comment sound serious (at ALL?) but still (listen to the fucking vocals!) they came out when emo was "big" and their sound is similar to emo bands back then. I mean listen to emo bands from their time like Mineral and Taking Back Sunday's VERY early EP. is it an ofensive lable? in this sense, I'm talking about the genre. I didn't say they were a shitty band so CALM YOUR SHIT!!! (damn... I still wanna know what the fuck gangsta jazz is... that sounds fuckin awsome)

  • @xXcloudlowellXx well I wouldn't have called you an idiot if I didn't think you were being serious, plenty of youtubers say dumb shit like that....i don't think my previous comment could've been anymore calm anyway haha

  • @jjesaveluk I agree a lot of youtubers are dumb shits, I'm sorry if my sarcasm wasn't so noticeable (you know, sarcasm and the internet don't mix that well) and I overreacted quite a bit in my last comment

  • it says no description available but it should say no description neccessary and no description is good enough to completely enterpret tis master piece

  • this whole album just kicks ssssssssssssssssssoooooooooooooooooooooo much ass

  • So good song, the lyrics is so weird and so good. I cant understand why this is emo style.. But I love it!

  • Audio Quality Is amazing!! Thanks

  • thiiiiiiis is good emo music

  • @fancypwn197 how is this emo? this was before the whole emo trend so shut up

  • @DameonTheDemon i didnt imply it in a bad way faggot, i love sunny day real estate, and it is actually considered emo, so yea....

  • @fancypwn197 who decides if something is emo? unless the members are emo there is no considering so fuckoff you piece of shit. some kids in my school consider led zeppelin emo, so does that mean they are? no fuck off just because something is not emo just because it is not preppy and happy

  • @DameonTheDemon I didnt decide it, this is a genre that is considered emo because of the lyrics, the band members dont have to be emo, fagtard. Plus the kids at your school who think Led Zepplin are emo are assrags just like you, so you can go fuck off and go get some more musical knowledge faggle....

  • @fancypwn197 well usually it is the band that decides what genre they are, besides there is an article on their website stating that all they did was inspire the emo wave. so before you start "well they're considered..." why don't you get your fucking facts straight fuck face and i know more about music than you. i bet you didn't even know they're time signature changes in this song or even what a time signature is. fuck you, you retarded cunt that pulls shit out your own ass

  • @DameonTheDemon chill the fuck out. and even mentioning that there is a human being that considers led zepplin emo is fucking sad. i dont think either of you know what your talking about so stop blowing up on a video i enjoy to listen to. who gives a fuck what genre it is, bottom line the song kicks ass.

  • @DameonTheDemon Settle down man. I believe that these guys are emo. I'm not sure what your definition of emo music is, but this bad comes to mind first when I think about emo music.

  • @DameonTheDemon it's funny cause fancypwn197 is right

  • one of the best songs of all time!

  • Crystal clear quality; thanks for this :D

  • best audio on youtube. thx.
