Mako, and he passed away of throat cancer around the time this episode was being made. they made this episode in honor of him, as a remeberance.

IIroh is a respected strategist for the fire nation and from all his strategies n' missions and stuff, only 1 failed and alot of soldiers died, including his only son...

Thats why he feels so guilty, cuz his son died of his failed attack strategy
