Using physical attacks makes him turn purple. Purple is so much harder than red at normal levels because of him using Lost Blow twice in one turn.

If you're at a low level, it helps to pummel him with magic at the beginning so he turns red. If he turns blue (Caused by physical attacks) he will cause massive damage, and eventually start attacking each team member for 800+ damage. The red version is better because all you have to worry about is magical attacks, and he's weak against physical attacks.

The Trick is to Overpower him with for the first half of the fight. When he become red, magic is useless. Keep your limit break for when he become red and you should do fine. Big Guard is a good idea at a lower level to halve the damage and have haste.

@darkai619 Choco/Mog summon spell has the status effect of stop. with all status ailments... there's a chance it will effect the targets. With added effect materia linked with Choco/Mog on your weapon... you can sometimes add 'stop' when normally attacking. If you link Added Effect with Choco/Mog on your armor, you now can resist the stop status.

Oh wow, you went into that one well prepared! I wasn't much of a grinder, but because of that I could never take him in his purple form, he'd kill me every time. I chose to hit him with magic to bring out his red form and then kill him because the magic is much softer then his purple hits.

@kiteshugo2 I try hard at times, in the future at some point, I intend to continue this game, boss battles and all and my "plotthrough" showing avy / all events with text. So people don't have to wade through gameplay if they just want to see the story itself... of course there is always the scripts around the internet and gamefaqs. However a video project is my "way of the ninja." =D

@kiteshugo2 No, no. You have that all wrong. I beat him at level 20 (using Cloud, Red XIII and Barret) What I did is I used nothing but melee in the beginning. Then, he went to the purple (WHICH IS SOOO MUCH EASIER.... If you know what you're doing..) and I just used all my summons and magic. It was easy..

@bdpchamp Without the older Final Fantasy games starting the RPG revolution, those newer ones would have never been, most all past games deserve respect. Turn based gameplay isn't all that bad if you simply try it out for a couple hours, it's like playing a really fun lengthy arcade game of sorts.

You cannot pass any number even by accident, if you do, you've already failed. You must press the OK button on each number. Please note in the video that I never go over the number I want. Luckily you can retry an infinite number of times until successful to fight the boss.

I think so, as long as your defensive and heal often, any materia that helps, like giving Cloud cover and HP boosting materia. Wing it, and try.

Carefully searching all environments, there's a good starting amount in Midgar before you leave, some on the ground in places like Aeris' Garden in her backyard. Sometimes the minigames as you come to them might have some.

If your having trouble finding materia, I suggest looking through a strategy guide for FF7 over at gamefaqs, likely most of them will list materia you can get as you go along.

Going past the number intended results in a do-over, meaning that you failed and need to try again from the beginning. Make sure you don't pass the number you want. Remember to confirm the number with the appropriate confirmation button. Try doing it like you see in the video, take note how I don't pass the number I need and instead stop right on it.

OK, if your turning the dial like going right and you go for the first number 36 but you accidently go higher then the number to 37 but go back down to enter it, it doesn't work and you fail. You cannot pass the number you want to enter. Exactly as you see here. Remember to press the confirmation button to hear that sound effect before going to the next number. Don't accidentally pass a number by mistake or else you must start over.

not really under leveled, I think that if you ran from a majority of random battles and never stuck around in an area longer then you had too, you might be on the lower end of levels. However, being at level 27 here might be around average for most gamers.

k thanks, erm i currently use red 13 cloud and barret, red 13 and cloud are my main mages but they are quite good at physical stuff more than anything o shall i replace barret with vincent and have him as a mage?

Red XIII is among my favorite party members, Between Barret and Vincent, Barret could prove more useful then Vincent in the Long Run. Vincent would be a nice change of pace if Barret is getting boring... Use your best judgement. Perhaps a little Tifa or Aeris action would be an option.

Negative, I don't think Choco/Mog can instant kill. However something around 11% of the time, you get Fat Chocobo which is kinda like a stronger version of Choco/Mog summon. Sometimes Chono/Mog can add stop status to enemies.

This, personally, is one of the few bosses that, if you play the game straight through with little to no grinding is still a challenge. Heh, after playing a lot of the FF games all the way though, the amount of bosses that are immune to status effects such as stop/stun were pretty numerous, so I just gave up trying to use status ailments :P Would've saved me many restarts if I would've tried this :( 5/5 -- Good video.

A. Because I felt like making things formal and renamed them. Some find it funny while other might find it amusing, I tend to make all main characters for each game have the title MR. in front of their name, that or my nickname.

The enemies try to be customized, but they aren't party memebers and or humans, so they can't have as many options as humans and or party memebers can.

Lost number is lost? lol Actually, I always thought of Lost Number being a type of Chimera, a fusion of beasts persay. It's possible to give the status abnormality 'stop' to some bosses.
