Dude everyone just came to find Scream because Dave was part of the band... but i remember the first time a heard Scream... it was in a Documental and the song was.... came witout warning and wasa fucking blew away... fast heavy as hell and fucking punk rock with a shreding solo so dude....Dave was i the las period of Scream.. he is not scream. So please guys get over it.. if someone wanted to worship Grohl .... please find foo videos... here is to talk about Scream....!
wow, theirs some really stupid shit posted here, scream was great to see, sorry they dont sound like green day or whatever pre packaged crap your sold on, fags.
And Grohl pounded the skins in a few bands before this and always shined, scream was a great step, without this he would not have opened for nirvana etc
And the "black guy" on the base fyi is one of the coolest m-f'ers ever, bass or no bass.
This band as popular as they were are just as average as any other bar band i see and hear everywhere i go. I don't hear any decent hooks or anything different that would set them apart as individuals. Not to knock them but i can see why they never really made it.
fucking cock - trash. there is nothing good about this. nothing at all. that fucking singer.....jesus christ. this is like less professional ratt. or warrant. EEEUUURRRGGHH!
i was just kidding my mum isn't dead. but i why do you write a comment like this? "fucking cock - trash. there is nothing good about this. nothing at all. that fucking singer.....jesus christ. this is like less professional ratt. or warrant. EEEUUURRRGGHH!" and then you write like this "i know a lot about music. dave grohl has indeed got talent. and the only thing i suck is your mum's left nipple." and why do you first say the vid sucks, and then "Dave Grohl got talent"
aha! charlatan! dave grohl undoubtedly has talent. the rest of his band, not necessarily. surely that's pretty straightforward. as for why i have to write like that, ask my shrink. better yet, accept it and live your life.
To be honest to you i don't really know what you're talking about, The thing is i haven't discussed anything on this vid for a long time so im not really up-to-date xD Forgive me...
1 floor tom, two rack toms, snare, kick (w/ double pedal...hi-hat, and 2 crash cymbals.
(Dave usually also had a ride cymbal, but not here...also FYI- Dave said the reason he never wanted two kick drums is because.."Bonham never had two"...)
This one is the kit that dave got before his Tama kit (he had his first tama kit when he first joined nirvana and destroyed it at the Cabaret Metro show) i think, i was just wondering what brand/series/size cymbals he is using here because they arent his usual ones.
Also, he never used a double kick pedal on any of his kits.
I'm pretty sure he used some Tama kits during his Scream days too. Swingstar's for example. He didn't have a lot to spend at that time. Although I do think that the kit he's using here is a Pearl. (look at the tom mounts and the lugs)
I did spot a Meinl logo on one of his cymbals (check 3.58-3.59, the crash above his hihat)
Go you. Being big-headed is NOT the way forward. You should constantly be questioning your playing and trying to improve, not settling at whatever skill level you're at now.
I was able to find a scream album that was part go somethign called " the your choice live series" it is prety good. I first herd of scream while listening to a Toronto radio show called " the ongoing history of new music" hosted by Allen Cross. the guy knows alot about music history.. during the show, he played scream song called " Gods Look Down"where dave is singing. The song was stuck in my head for a long time after. athe thought of hearing it live , gives me the good shivers.
Being a huge foo fan and adoreing good ole mister Grohl i must admit to wanting to listen to some scream for a while, i would love to listen to more, i want say i've been blown away as such, more of a little brezze, but daves drumming is as solid as ever and they sound like they deserved there underground following, you know werre i can find more scream stuff dude?
Get the double reissue cd on Discord 'Still Screaming' and 'This side Up'. The latter is truly immense. A third album 'Banging the drum' is pretty goood too but the tow that followed with Grohl were crap.
Is that still Skeeter on bass?! He was a trip. I guess the original singer was gone by this time, huh? Must admit I never heard anything after the LP that had "It Came Without a Warning" as the first track (called "Still Screaming" I think?). I thought that album was fantastic, except for the track "Hy-gene."
That's Skeeter all right. Loved that motherfucker! And that's Pete Stahl singing (original singer) and his brother Franz (playing guitar). Killer band for the ages.
Wow, I didn't recognize Pete at all here! I saw them at CBGB when I was about 17 and I still have that image in my head, but I guess my memory of that show has eroded over time. Thanks for letting me know!
this was the first scream song i've ever heard. i think it's much better than their hardord songs actually. give them a fucking break. listen to it on vinyl.
Scream was a D.c. Hardcore punk band but you have to take a look at what year it was in this video (1988), Most of the other D.C. hardcore bands were way gone by then. As much as I love their old stuff this song isn't bad, of course the drums are pretty kick ass in the end of this one!
They are punk. And the punk that most people think of is what it is now not back then. It's like Dinosaur Jr. They were kind of on the mellow side but a punk band.
Totally agree w/you that they are/were punk. But man, really, Dinosaur on the mellow side? have you listened to "Mountain Man" off the first album, or "Don't" off Bug?? They could be fuckin' face-pealing. Scream had spirit, dedication and hard-rock chops and were a direct influence on early Fugazi. Dinosaur created a new sonic palette. Both bands helped make the 80's bearable.
The reality of this band doesnt quite stand up to the legend, the lead singer looks and acts like a total wannabe. Were there a lot of major label A&R people in the crowd that nite by any chance?
Dave Grohl amazing as always behind a drumkit though.
You have no idea what you're talking about. How many Scream shows did you see? How well do you know them? They were leaps and bounds above so much of what was going on at the time and their shows killed. Period.
I can see how a video might suggest something else, but having seen 'em live for years, (and playing shows with them), from their first album days up until the end, they never compromised their punk roots. Sure, they got more rocking, but that's just part of their growth, which I think complimented them well. Hair Metal never had an agenda and never had a DYI ethos, which these guys lived. I promise you, man, they were very much the real deal. Cheers.
AGB, I can appreciate the similarities, at least in terms of guitar headstocks, and long hair, and slowed-down songs, but that's about it. Sure, they got more rocking as they grew, but DC hardcore was pretty much a thing of the past by this point. I played many shows with them, and few bands had as much integrity as Scream. Hair Metal was all about marketing and flash. Scream was the same band as they were when they were playing hardcore shows in '81: a real DIY punk band.
waht a super drumer`grol is, he was the only good there, nice he got cobain`and novoselic`, this ddint rok at all for his power, long live NIrvana yea!
I still remember this gig. Great to see all the famiiar faces.
