There most likely will be other issues getting it installed than the ones listed. In the end you're probably better off buying a used horizontal shaft engine than than trying to convert a vertical shaft lawnmower engine.

The point is you CAN convert the engine, it's just probably not worth the time and effort.

Lawnmower engines generally do not work as a kart engines without significant modification.

Depending on the engine type, I suppose it can be done, it would need to be converted from a vertical shaft engine to a horizontal shaft. You may need to take out the oil slinger, and install a new crank with an oil dipper. There may be other modifications needed as well.

After you get it converted, the engine won't be anywhere close as fast as the one in this video.

Actually, you can. But the difficulty in conversion varies between engines, from simple to impossible as aftermarket part availability can be an issue.

Basically, you remove the oil slinger and install an oil dipper, since the oil will move to the bottom of the engine under the crank. You will need to rotate the carburetor 90 degrees with an adapter plate to be oriented correctly. The engine will then need to have a custom made side mount plate to attach to your kart.

you should of got the 1.700 lifters and the longer rod 3.875 would of gave you more POP UP.

I'd put a 52 jet and stay around 400 degrees. def set the timing around 29 degrees or 190 in the hole.

Since the lifters are .100 oversize do they give you .100 more lift? .243 + .100 = .343 lift? I bought this rod not knowing it was a 3.870 but i think im gonna stick with it, i went through enogh trouble buying it. (guy tried to scam me but i tracked him down and made him send me my part) I think im going to run gas unless i can find a methanol distributor around my area.

What do you mean "3hp flywheel". A flywheel off a 3hp? how would that get your engine to go faster? The two functions of a flywheel have nothing to do with the speed unless one might have a better magnet that somehow creates a better spark after the magnet spins past the armature, but I have never heard of that. I hope for your engine's sake that the flywheel is not reciprocating. Rather, think of the flywheel as a energy reservoir of sorts.

The mass moment of inertia (in this case, resistance to changes in rotation) of the 3 HP flywheel is much less than a 5 HP flywheel as both the mass and diameter of the flywheel is reduced. This reduction in flywheel diameter has a much greater effect than simply the reduction of its weight.
