@ge2298 - I think you mean the guy in a blue cap, the one trying to imitate the Jota arms in the air. It's common anytime you attend a performance in any public school of Latin America, the common of the people try to imitate *real* dancers performing, and then their friends make fun of them because they are not dancers. We also think of "Spain", so we imitate them all in good fun, nothing special.
yes, we do have a very strong hispanic culture and tradition that until now we still have it. we don't consider ourselves as latino. We are simply FILIPINOS and we are proud of that =) we love our culture and tradition.
Just sharing some of our folk song music... "La Bella Filipina" ..watch it 2 different version of spanish and tagalog.
watch?v=ihxjgevUeIc (Original version - Spanish recorded during)
watch?v=zeOND8B9Vtw (Interpreted inTagalog Version - 1968)
@impinai79 We can't say that we are simply Filipinos. It's like saying Venezuelan, Mexican, etc. are just simply how they are called. For "Filipino" is just a nationality while Latino is an ethnicity. Filipinos are basically Hispanic, not just as a background culture but a culture which is our own, that makes us Filipino. Besides we are the Latinos of Asia :)
whatever....asian is not a race...it is a continent...we are hispanic in culture..some of us got spanish blood....and we are filipinos.....so if you're saying that we're asian...then tell me if there is an country that is called asia......we'll for all we know asia is a continent not a country...duh
That is where they are, of course, 'off' the coast of Asia. But Australian and South African mainstream cultures are predominantly Caucasian/AngloSaxon, yet they are far from the mother country that gave that culture to them. USA is far away from the prehispanic cultures inhabitting its soil.
Hi, shakeit etc etc. 'Latinos' is an artificial invention in the USA (they are good at that) for PuertoRicans, Cubans, and if we push it 'Mexicans'. Nobody else is really latino unless he can do salsa and reggaeton like a master. Philippines is Hispanic because it shares 300 years of same history with a continent across the Pacific; it was this 'Hispanic' order which made it Philippines. Its brothers now speak the language which Philippines was MEANT to be speaking by now.
We don't like to be latinos,we just have a hispanic background.jeez!we are asians and for those Filipinos who consider their self as latinos, maybe they have a spanish family.God sake.
why do we not just consider ourselves as just asians? well simply because its not true. asia is a continent and not a nation. filipinocaviteno is correct. our culture is hispanic asian. thats us. the only asian culture that happens to be also hispanic. asia is not homogenous.
I believe we're not Asian and we're not Latinos either... We are FILIPINOS. Diversified by different influences but yet we are still our own... FILIPINOS!!! When I'm asked if my nationality is Asian... I say no.. I'm Filipina... ;)
did any of u see that guy in the front who was laughing at the dance.??
