i wouldnt worry about a light leopard geckos are sensitive to bright lights anayway if u do use a bulb like i do to heat the tank it needs to be red so that its not bright. as long as u got a heat mat and the right temps dont worry about a light bulb.
I had a similar problem in my last small viv, You could try one of those small energy saving bulbs to stop the heat shooting up. I have one from B&Q its 7W and surrounded by rubber to make it bulb shaped.
