It might not be seeing himself in a dress, but the fact that it might remind Brian of a very painful period in his life. He's said before that he was severely depressed at that time. If there was a period in your life like that - you might not want to see constant reminders either. Only, in Brian's case, he can't avoid them. But he still might feel bad seeing them. Does that make any sense?
