gotta love the sweet 4x4 capabilities of a factory fj, man i love toyota. Even the little Rav4 has a button a lock the rear differential, thats pretty good for a small cute ute. The FJ has a special button for climbing rocks so when you go from the gas to the brake the vehicle will hold itsself and not immediatyly roll backwards, hell even the plush $ Runner has that option. Toyota's Rock!!

actually IFS is great for offroading, especially trail running, rock crawling is a different story, and in probably most cases, a solid front axel is better, but for the most part, an IFS vehicle off road, especially the fj, can keep up with almost anything. They do make SAS kits for the FJ too.

Wrong-o. There are motor clubs for people who own cars with 400K+ miles, and yes they run perfectly. I have a 1977 FJ40 with just over 380K miles and yes, it runs perfectly. I have a 1980 FJ60 with 340K miles.
Sorry to disappoint you chump, but yes, my FJ Land Cruiser will hit at least 300K, likely 400K. The engine was developed by TRD and was designed to run 25K miles without an oil change. Other Toyota's with the same engine are getting extremely high millage.

and why is everybody getting so pissed about whether their Jeep or FJ is better than the other? I personally own an FJ and love it, but I would also love a jeep if I had one. They are both great vehicles and both perform great offroad. If we keep bickering about which company/rigr is better, then the sport of offroading is gonna be lost. I'm all for friendly competition and a bit of ball busting, but getting in fights over it is just stupid

actually IFS is great for offroading, especially trail running, rock crawling is a different story, and in probably most cases, a solid front axel is better, but for the most part, an IFS vehicle off road, especially the fj, can keep up with almost anything. They do make SAS kits for the FJ too.

Keep talking all you want sport. The fact is Toyota Land Cruisers have all the 4x4 records. I've owned them all, Jeeps, Land Cruisers, original Hummer, Unimog, Range Rovers & Land Rovers... you haven't. I'm much more qualified to comment on what is and what isn't the best 4x4. Every Jeep I've owned has broken or gotten stuck.
There's a reason why Chrysler/Jeep is floundering. They make shitty cars, they aren't even made in America anymore, they're made in Canada or Mexico... craptastic.

In your dreams guy. Wranglers don't win Baja 1000/250, or Taupo 1000. Wranglers aren't world famous like Land Cruisers are & used the world over whenever a true 4x4 is needed. Wranglers can't drive to the North Pole (FJ, Hilux & Prado are only vehicles that have done this). Stock Wranglers won't wheel 5+ trails with ease. Wranglers won't get 400K miles. Wranglers won't make it to Everest Base Camp 18K', only FJ's can. Wranglers won't scale a 72 degree incline. FJ Land Cruisers are legendary.

In fact most places in the world you'll be laughed at if you show up for a 4x4 expedition in a Jeep. Yes, a FJ CAN do 5+ trails stock, one of it's claims to fame is that it's the only stock commercial vehicle that can do this. No, Jeeps can't go to the places I mentioned. There's something called the Arctic circle moron. Yes, Jeeps can survive in the arctic circle (barely and the keep to rural towns). The ONLY vehicles to ever drive OFF-ROAD to the the North Pole are the Hilux, the Prado (both versions of the FJ) and the FJ.

Yes, a stock FJ CAN scale that rock. Stock FJ's can go up Lion's Back, Hells Gate (where Jeeps go to die). Back when my FJ Land Cruiser was stock I did the Rubicon trail, modded Jeeps on the trail were getting stuck and couldn't keep pace.

Search "Jeep Hell's Gate" and see how many videos pop up showing a modded Jeeps flipping and rolling all the way back down. Watch how epically moronic the drivers are, it's downright hysterical. Most of it can be filed under the "this is a prime example of how exactly NOT to drive off-road" category. Then do a search for "Land Cruiser Hell's Gate"... a different story completely. The same goes for any Jeep vs TLC search you do. There's a reason why people trade their Jeeps for Land Cruisers.

haha well once again, I will say that part of wheelin is knowing what to do, listening, and having a spotter at all times, but since u r jst so qualified and experienced, u shud know that already, right? Right. Now I did see some funny rolled ovr jeep vids. One guy had no spotter, and another guy did not listen. You can say I'm makin excuses, but the same thing would have happend to an FJ under the same circmstances. And all ur beloved LC had some pretty decked out mods, the jeeps did not. Hmm..

You should care about my accomplishments and experience, it's relevant to the topic and it dwarfs any knowledge you pretend to have on this matter. Older FJ's are relevant because a 50 year old FJ is better than the latest Jeep, and the FJ Cruiser is far better than a decked out FJ40. I'd love to see your photos of Jeeps at the North Pole since National Geo. documented the expedition where "Arctic Cruisers" were driven to 0 deg N. It's in Guinness Book of World Records-only Toyota has made it.

Wrong-o. There are motor clubs for people who own cars with 400K+ miles, and yes they run perfectly. I have a 1977 FJ40 with just over 380K miles and yes, it runs perfectly. I have a 1980 FJ60 with 340K miles.
Sorry to disappoint you chump, but yes, my FJ Land Cruiser will hit at least 300K, likely 400K. The engine was developed by TRD and was designed to run 25K miles without an oil change. Other Toyota's with the same engine are getting extremely high millage.
