  • ... Nice Riffing! Very Original use of the Pentatonic Scale! (im serious)

  • Helló! Tetszik a demó! Jól szól a cucc.

  • Japan made. Sounds marvelous with tube amps, I dig it, it not to be compared w other gain boxes it is unique. Has so much artifact quality in the dist the guitar tone comes through and yet it responds to touch and dynamics unlike other boxes

  • Jó gitáros sokat dob egy szar cuccon is :)

Amúgy tényleg jó a cucc. Ehhez a pedálhoz egy full cső, mint ebben az esetben, aztán lehidalnak. Kíváncsi lennék az én tranyós MG100HDFX-emen hogy szólna.

  • hey nice video......have you prefer that vox pedal or turbo distortion by boss????

  • thanks!

i have never tried the turbo distortion so i cannot answer this question, but i have a boss OD3 pedal which is one of the best overdrives if not the best i have ever tried (but it is an overdrive not distortion as the 2 pedals in your question above)

  • @meliyalvaro I have the DS2 and it rocks... they are actually quite similar, similar crunch drive and mid boost, the advantage of the ds2 is that you get 2 modes on it, so it can also sound like a ds1, if you do not need that tone flexibility I would go for the satchurator

  • Te ez tényleg jó kis cucc! Breed-et én is szerettem anno! :)

  • clean channel settings ? that tone is amazing

  • man, that sounds great. you should definitely do a demo of your nova delay too. i'd like to know how to really get it working :]

  • is this made in china? im asking bcoz of the quality, this pedals sounds good but the product comes from china have a terrible qualtiy.. thanks

  • i dont know i have to check it, but it doesn't have any flaws it looks quite decent and has no loose parts or anything but time will tell how durable it is

  • I own a Vox Satchurator and I must say it has served me well :)...I've had it for 6 half a year and no problem so far!

And to answer your question...it's NOT cheaply made :)I really sturdy actually!

    take care

  • No sir. I have this pedal as well, very high quality, made in Japan!

  • Awesome video! I didn't understand a word you said but I like the sound you made. Finally a good sounding demo of Satchurator.

  • thanks very much, dont mind the speaking, it is the sound that matters eventually doesnt it?:) and the Sathurator really delivers what it should.

The amp is a Laney with EL34s and the volume is on 1 and we are on the clean channel with the Satchurator in front of it and the TC nova delay in the loop at the end, thats all

  • I have an MG30DFX and I want this pedal is it still good with non tube amps? cause for what Ive heard it sucks with practice amps

  • i dont want to say anything about it, because i have never tried it on practice amps especially on a MG30. I have only tried it yet on a Fender FM212 which is solid state and it was not bad. Of course it was not this fat sounding as you can hear on the video but i sounded better than the FM212's own drive channel. I have also tried it on a FM210 but it was very very weak sounding, compared to the FM212 combo

  • Awesome demo, I'm buyin mine this week :) also, what delay pedal are you using at the end of it? Thanks!

  • im really glad you liked it, i think you will be very happy with yours:)

the delay is a TC electronic Nova delay pedal

  • I really have to know. Can this pedal suit for metal sound. for example: Dream Theater?

  • i think you have to listen to your ears and decide if the sound you have heared on the video is good for metal.

In my opinion it is great for metal, it has a thick fat distortion with a lot of sustain, if you use it with the right amp, with my Laney it sounds awesome

  • Do you get the "Satchurator" with the DC adapter when you buy it or do you have to buy it seperatly?

  • Here at my country you have to buy it separately, but it can be used with any 9V DC adapter with a negative center

  • i play on a pod line6 xt,and i find it's sounds better if i plugged my pod direct into a p,a or a sound system than into a tube amp( i have 2 tube amps,a combo marshall jcm900 4501 and a hot rod deluxe fender)

  • thanks very much!

yes it is in front of a Laney VH100R's clean channel it is a 100w alltube head.

And i also realised what you mentioned about the pod they tend to sound much better on a PA system than in front of guitar amps. But i realised that this is the case with most multieffects, from line6 to boss units. I think tube amps are designed for working alone, i love my Laney best on its own with just a delay in the loop:)

  • i like a lot youre tone with the satchurator ! is it plugged in tube amp or others?

  • It sounds good, but i still dont know wether to get the Boss DS-1, how much is this roughly?

  • a DS1 is around 40$ while the Satchurator costs about 130$. A real significant difference in price..and a huge difference in tone also.

In my opinion a stock DS1 is pretty fizzy and i cant get a good tone out of it no matter how i tweak the knobs.

But you can mod your DS1 or buy a Keeley modded one which is much much better and usable, but it costs more too. I suggest you to try the DS1 in a local music shop, i bet they have one and let your ears decide. If you like it, then go with it

  • DS-1 is used as a boost in front of your amp. This will eliminate the fizz. The Satchurator is a pedal that can act as a boost or on its own through a clean channel.

  • Thanks, i tried it and i see what you mean. Whats the point in wasting $40 on something lame, when you can get something alot better, which will obviously cost more.

  • is this a true by pass? thanks

  • nope, unfortunately it is not true bypass but, i haven't noticed any tone sucking yet (i have it for about half a year)

  • Anyone tried this with a Vox AC15?

  • I have tried it with the AC15 and it sound completely different than what you hear in this video. It sounds much cleaner and much less fat, with a crisp high end. It sounds nothing like this, i was surprised when i tried it, but it is kind of obvious that it will sound different on every single amp

  • My satchurator sounds good on tube amps but sounds unbelievably terrible and shrill on any ss amp. The tone knob on it is also useless imo its either muddy or raspy. But im still trying to really like it.

  • Have you tried the pedal on a solid state?

  • yep, i have played it through a Fender FM212 a lot of times in a rehearsal room and it sounds decent. The FM212 is really an entry level combo, but the Satchurator could handle it nicely, it sounded less fat as on the Laney, but i had a surprisingly great tone through the FM212 the other band members were thrilled how could that combo sounded like that. It sounds more metal on a solidstate i think

  • What guitar is that? Looks cool.

My Satchurator is being repaired at the moment, I hope it's sounds as good as yours when I get it back.

  • thanks, it is an Ibanez SA160QM with dimarzio pickups, a breed in the bridge and a cruiser bridge (dp 187) in the neck position

  • What amp are you using?

  • the JSDS is plugged into the clean channel of a Laney VH100R head with 6L6 powertubes at the moment

  • it is a single sized humbucker.

you can get some more information about it on the dimarzio website too

  • Hey Andy,

Hands down THE best demo of the Satchurator I've seen on You Tube ! Good job ! In fact, your demo was the reason I decided to order the pedal.

What are the settings on your pedal from 05:03 - 05:15 ?

  • thanks very much, i hope you like the pedal as much as I do!!

The settings were gain at 12 o' clock, tone at 10 o' clock and the level was at 9 o' clock, just because i wanted the amps clean channel to open up a bit but didn't want the camera's mic to clip, normally i use Satch's setting for a full fat drive sound which are gain at full, tone little above 9 o clock and level about 1 o clock and back off on the guitars volume pot for less gain, it cleans up great

  • Andy,

I agree with the guy above. It was the best demo of the pedal. I like that you showed some non Satriani sounds. The pedal sounds great. Good demo.

    Regards,

    Charles

  • thanks very much, im really glad, you liked the video. The Satchurator is a really great pedal, you just plug it in and you can find a lot of usable sounds, the gain is there the sustain is there has great overtones, it just feels right, it does perfectly what it is designed for

  • I had a Satchurator, but I sold it and bought a Brent Mason Hot Wired instead...Satchurator was too fizzy and harsh and is more like a fuzz pedal IMHO...To each their own though. Glad to see you like it! :)

  • Hey, could you tell me what songs you are playing at the start, or is that just chords with a bit of improv? Either way, do you have the tab (or if it's a song could you just tell me what it's called so I can look it up on UltimateGuitar?) And what are you playing at 5:20?

Cheers, awesome demo btw, I really wana get one of these soon. You should learn Canon Rock by JerryC... I cannot wait to play it on mine, would be perfectly suited to this pedal :D

  • At the beginning it is just a G-D-Cadd9 progression and some notes to fill in the rhythm, i just improvised it but it is possible that there is a song like this.

At 5:20 it is an improv thing too, im playing a double stop at the 5th and 7th fret on the D & G strings over an open A string.

To be honest i don't like Canon Rock at all i think it is a bit overplayed here on youtube, i really got bored of it.

Im glad you liked the video, you'll the Satchurator very much!

    best regards

  • Ok, thanks for your reply. Much appreciated, and again, great demo

  • Hey, great demo!

    I just got mine today!

Do you have it in front of the amp or in the loop?

  • Thanks a lot.

Of course i got it in front of the amp. you always have to put distortion preamp or compressor boxes in front of the amp, because they are not suited for line level operation.

hope you like yours, i think this is an amazing pedal, great fat sound

  • Great demo, great playing and great tone :)

  • its always cool to ear you play! Thank to post this exemple, i never see this pedal before.

  • hey.

are you the guy that loves andy timmons?

could you do a lesson on electric gypsy?

  • i can send you the official tab, but if you have problems with it, i could do a video for you

  • I would LOVE a video on it.

you could send the tabs too though.

    haha.

  • it sounds very similar to the bb preamp

  • yeah, true, i needed something with some more gain than the BB so i can get a great sound at the rehearsal room when i can not have my Laney and this pedal delivers big time. It has that great chunk like the Laney and the BB with a lot of gain and cleans up very very nicely. At rehearsal volume i use it on about half gain it is really enough. So now i change the BB to the Satchurator it is even cheaper:P

  • yeahhhhhhhhh I remember stevie too!
