John: you should know what you're talking about before you turn the camera on. The whole "film/video" riff you do is explained in the commentary. And having your own name a half-dozen times is tacky. If it's supposed to be a lampoon, it's neither funny nor new: the "Written by Joe Blow" "Directed by Joe Blow" "A Joe Blow Production" gag is dates back to the silent era. Lastly: don't ad lib. Prepare your material & edit out the screw-ups. Put your best face forward.

It was shot on 16mm. The master was lost, and the only master Fred could find in that age was a German one, which had all the gore edited out, so he used that master, and when it came to the gore, he put in the scenes from the VHS print.

The movie is shot in 16mm. ALL of it. None of it was shot on video.

The elements to make the DVD came from a variety of video sources. But none of the movie itself was shot on video.

yea im with you. In the last few recent years deadly spawn has become alot more popular. Yet it is still not widely known of and Suspiria is not really obscure either. I may do i short review for Chinese Hercules on my next review.

I have the audio commentery to scalps and fred olen ray shot this film to look completelt diff...he states this..esp the tiger head during the beggining....actually he seemed pretty upset by how the movie looked at the end.....

I personall love this film....

also the rape scene went on for farrrrrr longer than he wanted ..

Thanks man i gotta admit if the soundtrack was not in there, and the video was spliced i think i would have actually liked it, the soundtrack really got to me. Thanks for the info though.

as I was saying, The only way he could release an "uncut" version of the film, was to splice the shots of violence from the US video, as it was the only known uncut print.

I love the movie, but it's good to see some younger people putting youtube to good use. Subscribed!

I'll fill you in on what happened with the 16mm/video bit, it's kinda lengthy but here it goes. The director of the film no longer had the original print of the film when he rereleased the dvd. Unfortunately the only print of the film he could find was a foreign (russian, I believe, but dont quote me) theatrical print. Unfortunately all of the violence, nudity, gore all the good stuffhad been edited out of the film, due to foreign censor policies...im running out of space here...
