Ok Bose may have some high end and some sort of low end but there is nothing in the middle it all sounds fake and flat. So I know the old joke is no highs no lows must be Bose But one of the real problems is no midrange. Bose is Just a toy Like Huffy is with bikes. No self respecting home theater enthusiast
would even consider a Bose system. Bose is marketed for meat heads and Professionals who don't care about good sound, they just buy them because The TV tells them to.
@asatruviking Actually, the Bose professional gear I've heard is pretty good. They even give usefel performance specs on them. In fact, I know when they brag about who uses their products, such as Olympic stadiums, the Vatican, among many other notable places, what are they all referring to? Their pro speakers. The reason they list performance specs on them is because they know they can't BS pros. But, that doesn't make their home products good. And, they know they can BS Average Joe.
@falkenlaser Yes I have heard their pro audio stuff and some of it is ok I guess. I don't think it's as good as JBL or Klipsch Pro audio both of which are used in movie theaters .Lowes uses JBL and Regal uses Klipsch.
@asatruviking Actually, I'm beginning to see people who own $10,000+ audio systems and Bose. One person who posted a comment on one of my videos said they own a pair of $14,000 B&W 802D's, plus I imagine $10,000+ worth of electronics behind them, plus a Bose V30, and they say it sounds great for movies. I also read a review on the Bose V30 that was written by someone who owns Magnepan speakers, and they claim you'd have to spend twice as much to get something that sounds better than Bose!
@asatruviking I really question whether these people who own very expensive audio and Bose are music lovers or just "status" lovers. I'm guessing a lot of them have never heard anything else in Bose's price range because they've never considered even buying it, but since Bose is regarded as a prestigous "name" (lol I love idiots who think Bose is the most expensive and the best), and they have no reference point for that price range, they'll just buy it and think they're getting a good deal.
@Sweetasmink Quite the contrary. I happen to have a Lifestyle 28 system, the lows are powerful enough to shake my entire living room, actually, once the lows were so deep on of my glass coffee tables cracked. And the highs are crisp and clear with no distortion.
@kyleman1313 If the Acoustimass module broke your glass coffee tables, you have a shitty glass coffee tables. The Acoustimass module can't even play low enough to play the bass drum in "Coming Undone" by Korn and the second bass note in the beginning of "With or Without You" by U2. The dealer selling it even said so. It's not a real subwoofer.
I own a Bose lifestyle 48 and a high end theater system , they both sound good but my Yamaha setup is better by far , The Bose setup looks nice fills my bedroom with sound and does a very good job , i dont know any other system with the same size speakers that could give me the sound a Bose does ,
Check out my video "Bose Lifestyle 48's Worst Nightmare: A System With Small Speakers for the Same Price". It has 7 in. tall speakers. While yes, they're bigger than the Jewel Cubes, are 4.5 in. tall speakers that necessary, especially when you could get much better small speakers for a little less? Not only that, but that system's subwoofer is INSANE. It's considered one of the best subwoofers on the market. And, this system has a Blu-Ray player, something the LS48 doesn't have.
I mean really why is everyone challenging each other... every one has different tastes. I work for a major sound reinforcement company in NYC and have personal analog home studio for recording music with JBL's. The bose is a good system. If you have the money get it. It also comes down to taste. The thing about the bose is that is very balanced and easy. Just my opinion.
Yes, it does come down to people's taste. But, watch my video titled "Why Bose Speakers Are Overpriced 1 (The Lifestyle 48)". Considering you can get this for the same money as a Lifestyle 48, you would actually suggest someone get a Bose if they can afford it? And, do you realize Bose's systems severely lack in current technology? Seriously, no Blu-Ray players, VERY limited HDMI connection that you for some systems have to pay extra for, no Dolby True-HD, or 7.1 surround sound.
@falkenlaser No most people who buy Bose want a system that will give them a good movie experience and dont fill their living room up with speakers, if u want a full home theater u buy separates , u wants a unit that works well and look nice and not over kill when it comes to playing movies then Bose is a good setup ,
Most people that buy Bose don't think twice about their purchase; they just assume Bose is good because Bose of all of the advertising, and they're most likely duped by Bose's rigged in-store demos, so they just buy it without ever hearing any other brand. Once you've heard other brands, and just happen to like Bose's sound, then you can say that's one's taste. But, most Bose owners only know Bose. If they were to have heard something else first, then they most likely wouldn't have bought Bose.
Not ALL bose stuff is bad, Falkenlaser its mostly the lifestyle oriented stuff that's bad. I heard a pair of BOSE outdoor Speakers which were Shaped like a typical Center speaker and they sounded a better than the Polk Bookshelf speakers that were the same price, I also heard some other bose bookshelves and they were decent the Likestyle systems were a HUGE dissapointment, the acoustimass 10 was better but still has the shortcomings of ALL small spoeaker/Sub/bass module systems
@marinlaw Lol sorry I am a little obsessive. But, like I said in another comment, people automatically think Bose is the best or really good, a lot of times without ever hearing it in person, and much less heard or even heard of other brands like Paradigm, PSB, Wharfedale, Klipsch, etc. So, my comments and videos are really meant to just break through Bose's smoke and mirrors and show people that there's other brands out there other than Bose that they should try before buying Bose.
I can't believe anyone would pay so much for so little. Does your little....umm... component there have HDMI input/outputs? Does it support Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD Master Audio? Does it play Super Audio or DVD-Audio discs? Does it play Blu-ray discs? Does the "Bass Module" reproduce anything close to 20Hz?
What ever gave you that idea? Klipsch RF-63 (x2) {fronts} Klipsch RC-64 {center} Klipsch RS-62 (x2) {surrounds} Klipsch RT-12d {subwoofer} Yamaha RX-V3800 {receiver} Emotiva XPA-3 {amp} Panamax PM-5300M {line conditioner} Sony BDP-s550 {Blue-ray player} Logitech Squeezebox Duet {network music player} Logitech Harmony One {universal remote} This should hold me well until I can get my hands on the Palladium series.
ok well some of the stuff that i looked at r only like 200 - 500 dollars thats not a lot of money. and is that everything u own or is that the things that u can buy.
ok lets cut the sh*t here, yes i am only 16 but i do know a lot, and since u are saying that u got money then i will tell u what my parents make per year. my mom is a superindenant and she makes 240 to 250 grand per year, my dad is a manager who make 150 to 160 per years, plus we have 20 acres of grapes which gross 65 to 80 grand, 10 acres of pomegranates which make 15 per year. and on top of that my family remodels houses which we get about 50 grand a piece and do about 4 to 5 a year.
I just posted a new video that shows what you can get for the price of the Lifestyle 48 in the big speaker range. Just think, your parents could of got you this....(or even the small speaker system I have a video of, too)....
you know shit all and no-one gives a flying fuck about how much your parents earn
the laws of physics defy bose lifestyle being any good-the cubes are too large to reproduce high frequencies properly and too small to do midrange and there is a gaping hole at the crossover because the "bass module" cannot reproduce anything higher than 200Hz and the puny cubes cant go that low with any decent output
the specs for it are (independantly tested) 40-13kHz at +-10.5 dB which is a joke
Thanks, but I actually got the RT-12d at a very reasonable price from a friend (brand new), plus I have absolutely no complaints. The frequency response is very smooth and the sub goes very deep. Plus with the SubCommander software, I can tweak the sub to my liking (although the auto room correction feature does a pretty good job of obtaining the flattest frequency response).

The Paradigm Cinema speakers have a tweeter and mid-bass, which unlike Bose speakers, which only have midrange, they put out the full sound spectrum. The Velodyne sub, although small, IS a real subwoofer, and plays lower and is more dynamic than the Bose Acoustimass generator, which is a comprimise between a mid-bass and a subwoofer (if I'm spending $4K, I don't want a comprimise on anything). Also, the Blu-Ray player is gonna play Blu-Ray discs, and make DVDs and CDs look and sound better.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
If you took away two of the surrounds and got a cheaper subwoofer, receiver, and Blu-Ray player, it'd still sound better than any Bose system. Heck, a Paradigm system as low as $1K would sound better than a Bose system.
Bose speakers are nothing but mid-range, which means they have limited highs and lows; they sound very "flat." The Acoustimas generator can't play the lowest of notes, and has poor dynamics.
As you can see, a Bose system has tons of things that comprimise sound quality.

Okay people, if you are considering buying the Lifestyle 48, mainly for the sake of small speakers, steer away from it. Intead, get:
2x Paradigm Cinema 90s (Front)
4x " " ADPs (Surrounds)
1x " " 110 C (Center)
1x Velodyne MiniVee (sub) [this thing is TINY but packs a punch!)
1x Yamaha RX-V663 A/V receiver w/ iPod dock
1x Sony BDP-S500 Blu-Ray player w/ HDMI
1x Logitec Harmony 890PRO universal remote
This system would cost about $3300; $700 less than the LS 48 system.
