"see you at peelers" isn't a race horse, it's like a cart horse or whatever. You can't compare 2 horses from different disclipines. Zenyatta would clearly win if "see you at peelers" raced with a jockey, and the other way around if zenyatta had to use the cart.
If you watch most of these, her jockey barely taps her with the whip. She knew exactly what to do coming around the corner. He just lets her go. Great Mare. Can't wait til her foals come around.
Zenyatta is really big for a female (17.2 hands and 1200 pounds), and that's why she won 18 in a row against much smaller mares - Ruffian had similar height and had the same success against fillies. But for all her size, Zenyatta was not extraordinary, barely beating an average turf specialist in 2009 and losing to another mediocre horse (compared to the likes of Tiz and Zapp) in 2010. The mare Goldikova has won 13 G1 races, inlcuding three Breeders, all against males - that's way better imo.
WOW! Can you imagine what her times would be if she actually got the inside rail!! haha good girl Zenatta/trainer/jockey!! (Oh, she can come to my home and retire w/ my horses if they don't want her! ha ha)
I have an idea. Don't you think they froze some of Secretariat's sperm? With him as the dad and Zenyatta as the mom, try to imagine the horses that would come of that union!!! Love Zenyatta. I'm only sorry I didn't become aware of her until just before the 2010 Breeder's Classic. Bless you, Miss Z!
I think it REALLY says something that she ALWAYS has her ears up when she's racing. Every other horse you see has their ears straight back... Zenyatta forever. <3
Zenyatta hasn't deafeated a single G1 winning mare this year. Has not raced against a single horse rated in the top 50 this year. has never defeated a single male on real dirt. Most overhyped polytrack specialist in history. Saturday she'll struggle to finish in 5th. Reality check coming in the Classic for this hyped and hidden on SoCal polycrap queen. LOL
@rugbymom75 The thing that makes me the most upset with the Zen haters that fault her connections for not traveling out of CA much is that nobody says anything about the great Ruffian. While her career ended terribly she still only traveled ONCE out side of NY that was to NJ to race at Monmouth. But that is never mentioned. Why can't people let great horses just be that, a great horse.
@rugbymom75 Greatness is not undefeated, look at Pepper's Pride. Had Moss chosen to bring Z to Oaklawn things might be different. Z's legacy will diminish for 1 reason or another.Secretariat, Man o' War, Citation, Seattle Slew, Affirmed others will grow larger even though they lost. Z will be greater than Secretariat cause she raced longer?Had Chenery not died Secretariat would race longer Penny knew Secretariat belonged to the people always trying to race locations for the people?
Hi everyone !! Im on ABC News !! I just wanted to say to all my friends I havnt seen in a while so HI !!! You have to watch them both untill the end.... Ken
What an exceptionally well educated TB. Not many can use their backs the way she does. The faux Spanish Walk in the mounting yard is the perfect warm-up exercise.
Credit must go to whoever started her under saddle & the exercise rider, who knows "balance is key" to a large horse.
In every race Zenyatta travels on her near lead all the way, until the final turn. Then she rounds the bend, straightens, changes of lead; Fresh muscles & from there the race is over.
ZenyattaHOY, I agree with you. We haven't seen the best 2010 performance from Zenyatta yet. She is playing possum and still winning. I truly believe she will win the BCC again. I haven't felt this confident since Ghostzapper.
I think Zenyatta has just cruised in most of her races which is one reason she is still a the top of her game at age 6. I expect Z's connections to let it all hang out in the Classis this year. Win or lose I will really miss watching her once she retires. She is just a magnificent to look at let alone race.
I love this mare. She always gives me a thrill (and a heart attack!) when I see her race. I can't wait til the Breeder's Cup. I think the real question is if Zenyatta can defeat Blame.
@BackstretchUnderdog No question. I've seen Blame run and Zenyatta and can take that horse anyday, and I say that not just because I'm a teenage girl voting for the "pretty racehorse", but because she really has something special in her running style. She could even be ont he wrong lead and sweep the field away.
Everyones entitled to there opinion of course, in mine she has not been given the chance to prove herself the best mare of all time, her owners keep running in weak races so I cant have her anywhere near the best. Id reconsider if she beats Blame in the BC finally an actual real challenge for her, what a waste of a career running against allowance fillies most of the time, she should be strutting in her stuff in nothing but top level open company
I just saw Zenyatta's Del Mar Race 9 victory on Television Games Network (I'm hooked on that network even though I don't gamble). She has definitely become one of the best horses I've ever seen.
Those poor horses were working their asses off trying to get ahead of one another and then Zenyatta strides out of NOWHERE and makes it look like a piece of cake!!!
I disagree. Horses have character and personality. I love the "acting up" jobs out of the offspring of Storm Cat,the grit of the Affirmeds and Silver Charms, the dancing of Zenyatta, and the corks of the Unusual Heats. You may just view it as "did I win or did I lose" but there is more to it. And yes, I think Zenyatta knows what is up.check out the 2008Vanity, it was not luck that Tough Tiz didnt get up even tho Mike rode a bad race. that was a matter of Zenyatta knowing what the job was
I might be wrong but I believe Ruffian would have make mence meat out of Zenyatta. What does everyone else think. Please don't be 'Bias' but I know some will.(smile). She is a one beautiful horse, so was Ruffian.
I disagree with that statement. After you pull the impossible 18 wins without a beat, I kind of give her the benefit of the doubt that she will get the job done. Maybe it is not all about the magnificence as it is about grinding out win after win. Race times and beyers can reflect ability and speed, but it can never measure heart
@gomezisgod0. Heart is just another word people like to use. . Its the horser ablility & conditioning.that counts when a jockey ask a horse for speed at the right time. He must know his horse & what he is capable of in any situation. A horse has no idea about what it means to win a race. He only knows what he is trained to do & not like a human that knows what winning means .I have yet to see a horse cry for losing a race.(smile) Its a 'No Brainer'.
@rscarbro100 I was just thinking the same. I dont know, if Ruffian had actually gone against the boys, then we may have more of an idea. It surely would have been an amazing race. I love them both though ^^ So glad to have an amazing horse alive and runnign during my time though!
sweet video... my fav races 1first race, 3 encino II not even picture when they turn for home lol, clement hirsh8, vanity11, clement hirsh 12 won so much money that day,and of course my bday the breeders cup win was ridiculous from outta nowhere...Zenyatta 17/17 one of best horse all time in my opinion that vanity handicap last week too was all afterburners i love they way z just chills and kicks it full on stretch and blows past all
Given her racing style and turn of foot, it seems she would be a marvelous turf performer. If I handled her, I would be tempted to prep her for the European classics such as the King George and the Arc (where the purse is more than 20X as great as today's race).
she is most definatly a super-horse! i luv how she just plays with the others on the field. she's having fun, and she is AMAZING at what she does =] luv ya girlie!
what a monster!!!but i still think that the second she faces males on dirt she will be beaten...if she beats the males on dirt, then she will be in the list of top 5 horses of all time...we still dont know how good she is...unbeleivable, i cannot wait to see her race againts males in churchill
@kadir1982, me too. I live about 90 minutes from Churchill Downs, and plan on being at Churchill Downs for the Breeders Cup this year. I can't wait, because it will likely be Zenyatta's final race, Goldikova's final race, and they'll be talent a-plenty on display in Louisville that weekend.
@kadir1982 ar eu kidding me with this comment????? u dont know how good she really is show up at churchill in november going a mile and a quarter on dirt against males and u will see..what kind of racing u watch or what kind of horses u watch...she is already top 5 of all time and will go down undefeated back to back classics and be mentioned with one only secretariat..period point blank u got no arguement KADIR
@bigfred3217 lol i didnt see your comment till now..that"i have no argument?"i should show up at churchill in november going mile an a quarter on dirt againts males and i ll see??"and um, what happened?look, i m not downing ZENYATTA, i myself almost cried watching her lose her last race the way she did...is she already on top 5 of all time?no,how about SECRETERIAT?SEABIRD?MAN O WAR?AFFIRMED?RUFFIAN?FOREGO?SEATTLESLEW?EASYGOER?NATIVEDANCER?SMARTYJONES? just naming a few..so where do we place her?
@kadir1982 Hello, you mentioned that you think that if she faces males on the dirt that she will be beaten, but wasn't the Breeders Cup Classic males racing? Maybe I am wrong but I thought the breeders cup classic had males in the race?
I love the comment on Zenyatta's 2nd race in this clip. Her allowance win at Hollywood Park when David Flores was still riding her. The announcer say's "Zenyatta is making a mockery of this field." David Flores looked like he could've been sitting back in the saddle giving himself a manicure, and Zenyatta would've went right on by herself. LOL.
And.....its not like Zenyatta is fast in a traditional way it's just she is very strong minded and wills herself to win ....it's like she is ridding and is connected to another dimension that is above the lower dimension. So Zen.....Buddah. lol
@patr70 The Clement Hirsch G1 was the strength of mind she has. She just won't give up until she has the field well-beaten or she hits the wire. I don't think there is any horse, Sea the Stars, Zarkava or Rachel (obviously now) Alexandra. None of them have ANYthing for Zenyatta.
@TheEnglandWC, personally, had he came to the Breeders Cup in 2009, I think it would've depended on how STS had taken to the surface at Santa Anita. If he ran it as well as he did turf, then he's the only colt that would've had a legit shot at beating her at Santa Anita. But if he didn't take to the surface, then he would've been another casualty of war that day, IMO. I say that believing that STS is one of, if not the greatest turf horse I've seen in my lifetime.
@dancingbrave24, not sure how you can say that. Given Dancing Brave was a Turf horse and Zenyatta primarily a synthetic horse, who's never raced on turf. How do you know Zenyatta wouldn't have dusted Dancing Brave or STS on poly-track? On turf, I'm sure either of them would've been able to defeat her. But with Dancing Brave or STS never having been proven on this type of surface, you can't just summarily dismiss Zenyatta as having a chance to beat them over this type of track. Not logically.JMO.
@GBeret83 just stating opinion mate everybody is entitled to their own views in horseracing and i know people compare modern greats to the old stars too much, and the best horses can go on any surface anyway
@CPProductions13, Best female thoroughbred ever, that's for sure. But being old enough to have seen Secretariat win the Triple Crown in 1973, I still rate him as the greatest I ever saw, and I'm a HUGE Zenyatta fan!!! Secretariat ran 12 furlongs in the 73' Belmont Stakes in 2:24 flat. And won by 31 lengths. This horse was a machine. When a track or world record is broken, it's usually by 1/5, maybe 2/5 of a second. Secretariat took 2-2/5 seconds off of the record that day, which still stands.
@GBeret83, no horse has come even within 2 seconds of that record, at least in the Belmont, I personally think something fishy might have been going on there...
I watched the K.Derby today, it is my favorite day of the year, but it paled in comparison to the 09 Breeders Cup, no race will ever be as exciting to me as that race, ever.....
Well... I'm from Sri Lanka... we actually do not have high class horse racing over here. Just 2 race courses for the whole country.... Just wanted to comment that looking at Zenyatta race ... it's just magical ! I always watch this video. I LOVE THIS GIRL.... Rachel Alexandra is NOTHING compared to the GREAT -- ZENYATTA !!! She is a living legend !!!

A Truly Amazing Horse.
PrometheusFlyingSolo 1 year ago
I might be wrong but I believe Ruffian would have make mence meat out of Zenyatta. What does everyone else think. Please don't be 'Bias' but I know some will.(smile). She is a one beautiful horse, so was Ruffian.
rscarbro100 1 year ago
I disagree with that statement. After you pull the impossible 18 wins without a beat, I kind of give her the benefit of the doubt that she will get the job done. Maybe it is not all about the magnificence as it is about grinding out win after win. Race times and beyers can reflect ability and speed, but it can never measure heart
gomezisgod09 1 year ago
@gomezisgod0. Heart is just another word people like to use. . Its the horser ablility & conditioning.that counts when a jockey ask a horse for speed at the right time. He must know his horse & what he is capable of in any situation. A horse has no idea about what it means to win a race. He only knows what he is trained to do & not like a human that knows what winning means .I have yet to see a horse cry for losing a race.(smile) Its a 'No Brainer'.

@gomezisgod09 BEYERS IS CRAP! SAVE YOUR MONEY.
drfager01 1 year ago
@rscarbro100 I was just thinking the same. I dont know, if Ruffian had actually gone against the boys, then we may have more of an idea. It surely would have been an amazing race. I love them both though ^^ So glad to have an amazing horse alive and runnign during my time though!

I just love how she runs with her ears pricked up every time. She barely looks like she tries and just smokes them every time. She is unbelievable.

Breeders Cup Classic wasn't conventional dirt but synthetic. I believe she can still win over males on conv. Dirt anyways though!
sremel9 1 year ago
should have won horse of the year!!
wychkobler 1 year ago
Given her racing style and turn of foot, it seems she would be a marvelous turf performer. If I handled her, I would be tempted to prep her for the European classics such as the King George and the Arc (where the purse is more than 20X as great as today's race).

spzenyatta14 1 year ago
what a monster!!!but i still think that the second she faces males on dirt she will be beaten...if she beats the males on dirt, then she will be in the list of top 5 horses of all time...we still dont know how good she is...unbeleivable, i cannot wait to see her race againts males in churchill
kadir1982 1 year ago
@kadir1982, me too. I live about 90 minutes from Churchill Downs, and plan on being at Churchill Downs for the Breeders Cup this year. I can't wait, because it will likely be Zenyatta's final race, Goldikova's final race, and they'll be talent a-plenty on display in Louisville that weekend.
GBeret83 1 year ago
@kadir1982 ar eu kidding me with this comment????? u dont know how good she really is show up at churchill in november going a mile and a quarter on dirt against males and u will see..what kind of racing u watch or what kind of horses u watch...she is already top 5 of all time and will go down undefeated back to back classics and be mentioned with one only secretariat..period point blank u got no arguement KADIR
bigfred3217 1 year ago

Maybe I am wrong but I thought the breeders cup classic had males in the race?
patr70 1 year ago
@patr70 youre right. she raced males that day and was the first female to win that race. she even defeated mine that bird.

LOL.

Great horse, best American horse in 10 years, maybe in 20.
littlescratchykitty 1 year ago
And.....its not like Zenyatta is fast in a traditional way it's just she is very strong minded and wills herself to win ....it's like she is ridding and is connected to another dimension that is above the lower dimension. So Zen.....Buddah. lol
patr70 1 year ago
@patr70 Oh, she's very fast in a traditional way...just not until about the last 16th or 8th of a mile. :)
Venckman 1 year ago
Zenyatta has a HUGE personality and Ego if that makes any sense and she seems to get really pissed if other horses try to beat her. lol
What a horse.
patr70 1 year ago
@patr70 The Clement Hirsch G1 was the strength of mind she has. She just won't give up until she has the field well-beaten or she hits the wire. I don't think there is any horse, Sea the Stars, Zarkava or Rachel (obviously now) Alexandra. None of them have ANYthing for Zenyatta.
Kostly 1 year ago
is she better than STS?... we will never know
TheEnglandWC 1 year ago
@TheEnglandWC, personally, had he came to the Breeders Cup in 2009, I think it would've depended on how STS had taken to the surface at Santa Anita. If he ran it as well as he did turf, then he's the only colt that would've had a legit shot at beating her at Santa Anita. But if he didn't take to the surface, then he would've been another casualty of war that day, IMO. I say that believing that STS is one of, if not the greatest turf horse I've seen in my lifetime.
GBeret83 1 year ago
best filly ever, she would of beat cigar, but not dancing brave
dancingbrave24 1 year ago
@dancingbrave24, not sure how you can say that. Given Dancing Brave was a Turf horse and Zenyatta primarily a synthetic horse, who's never raced on turf. How do you know Zenyatta wouldn't have dusted Dancing Brave or STS on poly-track? On turf, I'm sure either of them would've been able to defeat her. But with Dancing Brave or STS never having been proven on this type of surface, you can't just summarily dismiss Zenyatta as having a chance to beat them over this type of track. Not logically.JMO.
GBeret83 1 year ago

GBeret83 1 year ago
@GBeret83 Exactly, I know S's record still stands. We just got to wait if another horse can do it! :3
CPProductions13 1 year ago
@GBeret83, no horse has come even within 2 seconds of that record, at least in the Belmont, I personally think something fishy might have been going on there...
