SOPA would have effected all of us, not just the U.S.
The target of SOPA is offshore, a lawsuit against the owners in a U.S. court would be futile.
Even if it had been passed, there's always a way around it. All it would have done, so is block access to them (sites). This is where proxies come in.
File sharing needs to be more secure. It's a real shame, that not so many know how to protect themselves from being found out for downloading.

People are overreacting about this whole situation. No, the gov is not trying to sensor the American people. What the government is trying to do is shut down sites that is hosting illegal downloads for tv shows and music. When you download music that you did not pay for, that is stealing and you and the "seller" are thieves and deserve to go to jail. It as bad as if you walked into Best Buy today, grabbed a CD, and walked out without paying for it. Should we make that legal then?
