@maykmendo1, just two things: One, whether or not it's been attempted before (Marine or other servicemember vs. an MMA Pro), no one knows for sure until they're in life or death combat regardless of training. Two, MCMAP, MACP, Krav Maga, etc. are designed as "combative responses to attacks vs. "self defense," "MMA fighting," etc. Everyone keeps forgetting that the UFC and similar organizations have "rules." Through the rules out and its COMBAT, those not trained for life/death are at a loss.
There is no Marine or member of the armed forces that can beat an MMA pro in hand to hand combat. Its been attempted before, with a total failure. I love Marines and MMA, so I like this. Great video, but the truth stands.

This is such a dynamic video. I’ve never be able to see training like this for military forces. The idea of physical discipline and character taking a large part in combat makes me think of a movie I recently saw, Films of Fury. @thysaeed In the situation, the Marine would still have been victorious, they are trained in combat kill situations. Not beat up then pull off of opponent and cheer. Marines have the edge. Period.

If one of these MCMAP guys threw down in the parking lot with Cain Velasquez, he'd get his ass handed to him if he couldn't get to a weapon....most of the time. @TheJr478 it's not a put down on MMA but martial arts are very heavily weapons based. The unfortunate thing with MMA is that while it's a bloody high level of training, it is limited to no weapons and 1-on-1 (i.e. brawling). That is only one aspect of fighting. If MMA is to improve, it needs to work on group and weapons fighting. While unlikely in the west, some 80% of the world is still brutal with machete wielding civilians (Solomon Islands, Timor, Cambodia, most of Africa etc).

It's scarry how fast these UFC professional fighters lasted in the sims. I didn't think that the UFC fighters would win. But I didn't expect them to lose so fast. I don't think any of the fights lasted more than 10 seconds.

I've been telling these jokers that MMA is a sport and that the individuals who train for reality are the Real Mixed Martial Artist where their is no center referee. Wow you guys should calm down. I am a Marine black belt in MCMAP and am going to the Martial Arts Instructor Course next month. I also do Tang Soo Do and Jiu-Jitsu on the side. I have to agree with vicious critique, in a hand to hand fight a proffesional fighter would probably win. However, MCMAP is about a lot more than just fist fighting. It also teaches knife, weapon of opportunity, non-lethal baton, bayonet, and arresting techniques. Also, MCMAP is designed to be done with gear on.

@mrghostnzl If it was the two UFC fighters on the one Marine istead, the Marine would probably lose too, or if he were to succeed in it, it would be because he was trained to do so. Also, this was supposedly only the first time that the UFC fighters had attempted this obstacle, these Marines do this for a career so of course the Marines would win. Now give the UFC fighters the proper training and give them time to work on their technique, then yeah, they probably would put up a good fight.

This video illustrates a bit of a debate I was having with a guy on another video, all these sports martial artists etc. are trained to fight in an arena with rules. Anywhere else there are no rules.

Yup, plus they aren't trained with weapons, but were expected to fight with them. If everyone was unarmed they would stand a better chance against the marines, especially one on one. That would have been more interesting to watch.
@Restayvien what you're doing now is adding more control to the fight environment (removing weapons and making it one on one) in real life an assailant may or may not have a weapon, in an uncontrolled environment, there's nothing that stops them from having a weapon, and nothing that stops a marine from having one too, warriors in general are trained for non-controlled environment, they ain't trained for the octagon.
MMA is great in controlled fighting (with rules), other than that not so much.
I agree that if the aim was to generate a random encounter then it might be more realistic to throw some weapons in (depending on the reigon/scenario). But if the goal is to compare two groups of individuals in close combat, one which has been trained with weapons and one that hasn't, then the outcome should be pretty clear without having to make a program with it. They might as well have given them all assault rifles and then said 'well in a real battle people would have guns'

By the same logic the marines ain't trained to fight in the octagon because they don't need to, and the UFC fighters are supposed to be "fighters" whom can presumably handle themselves in a realistic situation, the point is not to compare between two groups but rather to show that the octagon ain't the same as the real thing, to show that both groups are good at their respective areas.
Oh, well I assumed that would have been obvious to everyone anyway. Not sure why they even needed to get the two groups together in order to demonstrate that.
Plenty of the fights I've seen haven't involved polearms or clubs - I wouldn't call people being unarmed an 'unrealistic' scenario, it happens all the time.
This program would have been much more interesting if they had 1v1 unarmed combat as well as 2 weapon-trained marines v 1 non-weapon-trained MMA fighter.

It's scarry how fast these UFC professional fighters lasted in the sims. I didn't think that the UFC fighters would win. But I didn't expect them to lose so fast. I don't think any of the fights lasted more than 10 seconds.

Wow you guys should calm down. I am a Marine black belt in MCMAP and am going to the Martial Arts Instructor Course next month. I also do Tang Soo Do and Jiu-Jitsu on the side. I have to agree with vicious critique, in a hand to hand fight a proffesional fighter would probably win. However, MCMAP is about a lot more than just fist fighting. It also teaches knife, weapon of opportunity, non-lethal baton, bayonet, and arresting techniques. Also, MCMAP is designed to be done with gear on.

@astigshad I had many times sparrings with various military branches all over the world even with Marines ,because many off them invites gyms ..... look i respect Marines when it comes to marksmanship , close combat / Knive fighting / Sticks , war tactics and all that stuff i know they will win in this disciplines . @mrghostnzl If it was the two UFC fighters on the one Marine istead, the Marine would probably lose too, or if he were to succeed in it, it would be because he was trained to do so. Also, this was supposedly only the first time that the UFC fighters had attempted this obstacle, these Marines do this for a career so of course the Marines would win. Now give the UFC fighters the proper training and give them time to work on their technique, then yeah, they probably would put up a good fight.

Havent you seen the Ultimate Fighter series where Brock Lesnar explains to the fighters that fighting is a matter of inches, basically it is a struggle and any technique can win or lose you the fight on the day.

@Restayvien what you're doing now is adding more control to the fight environment (removing weapons and making it one on one) in real life an assailant may or may not have a weapon, in an uncontrolled environment, there's nothing that stops them from having a weapon, and nothing that stops a marine from having one too, warriors in general are trained for non-controlled environment, they ain't trained for the octagon.
MMA is great in controlled fighting (with rules), other than that not so much.

I agree that if the aim was to generate a random encounter then it might be more realistic to throw some weapons in (depending on the reigon/scenario). But if the goal is to compare two groups of individuals in close combat, one which has been trained with weapons and one that hasn't, then the outcome should be pretty clear without having to make a program with it. They might as well have given them all assault rifles and then said 'well in a real battle people would have guns'

By the same logic the marines ain't trained to fight in the octagon because they don't need to, and the UFC fighters are supposed to be "fighters" whom can presumably handle themselves in a realistic situation, the point is not to compare between two groups but rather to show that the octagon ain't the same as the real thing, to show that both groups are good at their respective areas.

Plenty of the fights I've seen haven't involved polearms or clubs - I wouldn't call people being unarmed an 'unrealistic' scenario, it happens all the time.
This program would have been much more interesting if they had 1v1 unarmed combat as well as 2 weapon-trained marines v 1 non-weapon-trained MMA fighter.
