Though I do believe that psychotropic drugs are grossly over-prescribed, there ARE people in this world that benefit from and/or need these drugs. Example: me. I have been hospitalized five times in my life. I have lived a lifetime of psychotic episodes, hallucinations, delusions, and numerous suicide attempts. I have proven to myself that without these drugs, I destroy myself, lose touch with reality, and inch ever closer to suicide. I would rather take the drugs than be dead. Period.

Just eat well, cut out fizzy drinks completely except for your free day in the week or the odd occasion like the cinema or a family party, stop stuffing your face with chocolate and any kind of sweets and have a chocolate and coffee night on your free day only. Maybe we should have an alternative schooling program for younger children that can't focus in a normal class room? I think that's a bit more logical than giving them (some as young as 6) meth on a daily basis. (that's exactly what all those drugs for ADD/ADHD are, amphetamines.)

Not exactly. Ritalin contains a much different chemical called methylphenidate, which is much less powerful than methamphetamine and works via a different mechanism. Adderall contains dextro- and levo- amphetamine, which is methamphetamine minus the N-methyl group, which makes it less potent and less neurotoxic due to lower lipophilicity. Vyvanse is similar to Adderall, except that it only contains the D-isomer of ampetamine without the L-isomer...

They actually have their place in psychiatry because they DO treat severe ADD, even though they ARE overprescribed.

Still, I agree that Desoxyn NEEDS to be taken off the market, because even a single small dose can cause permanent damage to the reward system, especially in young children. It also damages prefrontal neurons that are responsible for self-control, which can set children up for drug addiction and even psychosis in their future.

Actually it's market mostly towards people looking to lose weight and is not used in the treatment of ADD or ADHD, not that it can't be used for this but generally the people it is being prescribed to are older and overweight.

If the drugs can mess with or harm the delicate processes that make the brain run smoothly, and create an imbalance then that nullifies their argument as to wether the condition can exist since the condition one is being treated for is known as a natural imbalance. Double-think/speak at its finest. The problem is with companies losing patents and changing one little molecule so they can rename it and battle over market share. Prime example: Prilosec and Nexium.

But at least get the problem right before you try and change it. In some cases they are very much needed. And the dietist prescribed me with a drug which indeed upset my hormonal balance and made me even more obese. Would that prove that my original obesity was caused by hormonal imbalance?

There are over 400 chemicals in weed one which is very deadly as if 400 chemicals are not bad enough. The effect it has on limiting your brain capacity is just as bad as what these drugs do. its actually little over 60 active chemicals in 'Cannabis'...

2 of the most active are thc and cannabidol.

I do not know what supposedly "deadly" chemical you refer to, but I do know that

Cannabis does not have a fatal dosage, an amount one can ingest that will kill them...

and when titrated to a specific person's necessary dosage, one only needs to ingest a minute amount

to feel the desired effect.

Also there have been preliminary studies that show thc provokes brain growth

A lot of it is just plain anxiety, but it's funny how the same problem gets 19 names and eight different drugs to go with it.
