  • I have to admit Lesley that the meetup looked a bit nerdish during the earlier part of the vid, but your comment at the end was so warm and so glowing it convinced me that the meetups are worthwhile. I wonder if it would be possible to arrange them nationwide so that every You Tuber can attend meetings in their own area. Or does that sound too much like Alcoholics Anonymous?

  • Yes, its cool that ya saw the illustrious Zipster and the talented Cheeky! Glad you made the trip and have the experience!! :D

  • Terry is such a warm guy I was amazed by how down to earth and friendly he was. He kept getting up and clearing tables of glasses LOL! Paul was fab too, I had to sub on the strength of the meeting, it's the cheeky grin. Cheers, Lesley

  • I'm glad you enjoyed yourself Lesley! I would love to see London some day. :)

  • I haven't been to the Tower of London since I was a kid and half the crown jewels were out on loan or being cleaned that visit. This visit was one of my best ever, though the venue was great, it was the people making it really special. One day Betty, you never know what life will bring. Cheers, Lesley

  • Glad you enjoyed it Lesley:)

  • It really exceeded my expectations. I was amazed by how relaxed it was and also how everyone got along so easily. I watch vids from many of the people there so wasn't surprised it was like meeting up with old friends. However, there were a lot that I got to know for the first time there, yet still felt like I'd known them years! Kindred spirits. Cheers, Lesley

  • I'm so happy that you had such a good time :o)

I've never had a chance to go to one of those but they look so fun

  • I'm sure the chance will come up one day Brenda and you must take it. Meeting other YouTubers is amazing and lots of fun. I had such a great time, I really didn't want to leave! I'm lucky they do happen quite often here in the UK. I'd love to go over to one in the states and meet up with my faraway friends there, one day....I can dream! Cheers, Lesley

  • You forgot your camera to a youtube meeting? that's interesting enough! cheers, Jeroen

  • I took my camera that's where the footage came from Jeroen. But I was having such a great time chatting that I left it in my bag most of the time and enjoyed myself. It was only when I came home that I realised I didn't have much to share with people who weren't able to go. There was very little shooting going on, most people were just in the moment! Cheers, Lesley

  • catching up on the London videos after my reunion weekend with the pups.

I can't wait to find out when the next UK one might be so I can plan ahead.

I knew you would have a wonderful time - I know what it's like to meet another You Tuber for the first time. Instant connection - and any doubts you might have had that they would be different in person from their video persona melt away.

    Wonderful to see you beaming!

  • Darn it's eating comments again! They do seem to happen quite often in the UK but the crowd who go seems to depend on who organises it, so I wouldn't want to go to just any event. All the nuances of conversation like tone and expression show on video. It's not like meeting someone you've only had textual communication with! Andy and I both feel our gut instincts are still working with video contact. I had so much fun. See you soon, hug your doggies from me. Cheers, Lesley

  • aamen gurl theys lots of fun

    glad you had fun

  • I had an amazing time and it was so fun to just chat, so hardly anyone took their cameras out. Just the odd minute and then we all got on with enjoying one another's company. Really like meeting up with friends you've known for years and years not months! Expect a postcard from the Tower of London. Cheers, Lesley

  • Very cool! I'd love to see those ravens in person. Thanks for sharing the experience. Looks like you all had a great time!

  • It's times like that I wish I had a decent camera with a zoom, they look so tiny and insignificant. The superstition continues to this day and they make absolutely sure they won't want to leave! It was even better than I anticipated, the feeling of warmth and belonging was surprising. Cheers, Lesley

  • This was some really good footage, I saw you there, Sorry I didn't talk to you. Great video.

  • I think we managed a wave Barry and you've got centre shot in my video! There were so many people there I just didn't get to talk to half of them. But to be honest it was really nice to be so relaxed about it and not feel the need to meet and greet everyone. I'll catch up with you next time! Cheers, Lesley

  • I think you were right aout the wave. Yeah it was very relaxed gathering and enjoyed it so much. Hope to catch up with you next time.

    Barry

  • Glad to see you enjoyed yourself :)

weird, ive not seen any footage from the Glasgow meet-up yet.

  • I see you haven't put any footage up either! It's very hard to remember to shoot when you're so busy talking and having fun. Hope yours was as much fun as ours, I'm officially addicted to meet ups after just one go. Cheers, Lesley

  • Hey Lesley, wow that looked so much fun it's unreal! How do you get invited to the youtube meetup's? I want to go, not sure how easy i would find it Lesley, you know i'v got social phobia syndrome don't you? But it does look fun, i never get to meet anybody because i find it so hard to leave the house.

  • You don't need an invite Jim they are for anyone to attend that's why we were all putting the information out on our channel about where and when. It was just like being at a pub with friends and if that's not good for you then you may not enjoy them. You could always try a one to one meetup with someone local to you and see how that goes. You never know this might turn out to be something that throws a switch and turns that light on for you. Cheers, Lesley

  • Cool, i'll have to see what happen's next time Lesley thank's! I'm generaly o.k. as long as i'm with somone i know, i just get very nervous around lot's of people i don't!

  • Then it would be fine 'cos you'd know me! Andy and I met up before the event so we could go together and lots of people came as a group. Not many people feel completely comfortable just going into that situation alone. I know it's a much bigger deal for you because it's an actual phobia. L

  • You are SO right! Just DO IT! I was scared to death when I went to my first YT gathering. Within minutes after I got there, I couldn't remember why I'd been so scared of it. When I went to my second gathering, I just dove in, and I had more fun than could possibly be legal.

To anyone who hasn't, just GO.

    Moosie

  • It's hard to explain to other people why we all feel so connected even though we haven't met but it's a brilliant feeling. I will do everything I can to get to another one and longterm plan now is to try one in the States! Cheers, Lesley (fellow addict)

  • Glad to see you had such a good time Lesley!!!

  • Robert these meetups are something I'd absolutely recommend to everyone. I don't know what it's like when there are loads and loads of people. But this was so relaxed, it was like honestly just like going to the pub with a bunch of friends. Cheers, Lesley

  • I am so glad you had a great time, I have just watched Andy's video and he feels like you do today! Plus you got to see the Tower too, I will do that one day!:)

  • WHAT?? Anthony.. you don't mean to say there's actually a place in England where I have been, and you haven't!!?? I just saw two pink creatures flying past my window, going 'oink oink' as they flew by.. :D :D

  • LOL! I have been outside many times but never inside!:)

  • My then girlfriend (now wife) took me there MANY years ago.. It was very interesting to see it all, INSIDE na dout.. :)

  • I'm not a huge history fan, most dates just don't stick in my head. But being in a place like that is amazing that sort of history really appeals. It's the things you don't expect to see that are fascinating too like the things melted in the great fire of London. Worth more than one visit certainly. L

  • We both sound a bit croaky I think that's 'cos we never stopped talking! You have to see the Tower, there's a lot there at least 2 hours it says. But do visit the jewels in the morning as after lunch it gets jammed full and you have to queue. Cheers, Lesley

  • hope u had fun!! get some sleep girl!!

  • I had enough fun to last me till next Wednesday but I can't sleep 'cos it's hubby's birthday today so busy busy busy with more fun! Cheers, Lesley

  • wow :D wish him a happy birthday from me!

  • So sweet to meet you and hang for a bit!!

  • It was fantastic to meet you too and have a laugh *she covers one eye with hand* LOL. I hadn't expected it to be sooo relaxed with everyone just chatting. I thought you'd have a chance to do a meet and greet and then you'd be locked away shooting video with some hard core entourage! But you really are you, on or off screen and it was a pleasure to meet you. Hope it isn't long before we catch up again. Cheers, Lesley

  • Glad to see you all having such a great time together!

  • It was amazing that you managed to get into Stickam and join us too, just love technology when it works! Everyone seemed to have a great time, there were the quiet ones and the noisy ones but it was all very relaxed and happy. Cheers, Lesley

  • Nice one, it was awseome. Hope to meet you again one day.

  • Well I think you'll understand when I say the meetups are as addictive if not more so than YouTube itself! Now I seriously want to go to something like the SouthTube one or the 888 but the funds aren't there. So you betcha I'll be at any of the UK ones I can make it to. Hope you all enjoyed the hotel and managed to keep the Pope in one piece! See you again someday soon. Cheers, Lesley

  • Glad you had a great time Lesley! It was so nice to see Positive Sue. She was one of the first people we started watching on YT and we miss seeing her videos.

  • Sue was fantastic and I've never seen one of her vids, just as I heard of her she disappeared off the scene. The stuff I saw was mainly from other meetups. She's lovely and has actually found such great friendships that they take up her time off screen so she doesn't make so many vids now, though she still watches. People think the hater drove her away but they are very wrong thankfully! Cheers, Lesley

  • Lesley, YAY!!

    :-D

Yep, I can tell by the smile on your face at the end here that you really did enjoy it. I could also tell from Andy's footage.

Once you've gone to one, you want to attend as many as you possibly can. I think you're right about them being as addictive.

  • Thank you so much for the hug I've sent Andy back with one for you! Isn't it the craziest thing, knowing someone without meeting them? Andy and I had a conversation never covered by vids (about 20mins after we 1st met) about a controversial issue and we agreed! Kindred spirits, our gut instinct is so strong even via a screen our judgement seems right. It was a fantastic day all round. Joe's birthday tomorrow so I'm busy now doing that. One day I know we'll meet though, we have to! Cheers, Lesley

  • tiger.xx

  • LOL, your antics have caused quite a conversation in our house. Thanks so much for the present, hope you don't mind I've passed it on, my 4 year old loves magic painting books. It was a lot of fun meeting you yesterday. Take care captn Fearless. Cheers, Lesley

  • YouTubers can be very different in reality!

Not as interesting or as nice as they seem online.

  • I was lucky with the friends I've made, they were so easy to get on with. I think that it depends who you watch and whether they're themselves on screen as well as off. Cheers, Lesley

  • Well I really hope we get to meet up again some time. I think you're building a great art focused community.Did you get to bend Jamie's ear (the UK YouTube editor) about a category for art on YouTube? Cheers, Lesley

  • You left your family at the tower! That was a bit extreme - had they committed high treason or something?

  • LOL, they were very happy to be left eating ice creams and drinking tea in the cafe there! It was a long day but I'm glad I did the family bit and then had the me time later. It's nice having a bit of time when I'm off duty as a mum. Great meeting you yesterday, though I know you were feeling worn out too! Cheers, Lesley

  • Oh you saw the Ravens! My dream!

All those at the dickens inn were utubers? krikey!

  • Oh great you got the Ravens, I wasn't sure if you'd pick up on it! There must have been about 10 wandering about the place and these were right on the Tower. We pretty much took over half the garden terrace by just adding each table as people left LOL. Then we became a bit of a spectacle and the people on the balcony were watching us and probably wondering who we were. Cheers, Lesley

  • Lesley,

I'm so glad you got to experience this. There is absolutely nothing like it. I know the two that I went to were two times in my life that I will always always remember.

    YAY for gatherings :)

    xoxoxo

    cheers!!

    Lisa~

  • I thought I'd got a real feel for what they're like from footage I've seen. But what the video can't show is that feeling of warmth and love generated by all these friendly, like minded people. It was really like you'd known one another for years and years and I hadn't expected that at all. Can't wait to meet up with you. I just know I'll find a way to make it happen now. Cheers, Lesley xxx

  • Oh Leslie... you look beyond happy! How fabulous! Loved the trains as well cause I miss them lol Thanks so much for posting this. Lovely to see, love Michelle

  • Hey Michelle I had a ball, honestly I'm still grinning today! It was just such a friendly event (in some cases a little over friendly - you've got to love the Pope!). I meant to film it but I was too busy chatting and getting to know people better. The vibes were just amazing, can't wait to meet more of you guys now! Cheers, Lesley

  • It was great meeting you. I had a good time.

    (I'm in your video! Wow!)

  • Bill it was lovely to meet you in person, I'm so glad you made it after that awful journey. Great to get to know a bit more about you rather than all this time gobbling typing, chatting is so much easier! Of course you're in my video, you're one of the people I wanted to meet! Cheers, Lesley

  • A train from Colchester?? Whatever will you come up with next?? ;D ;D Just watched Andy's video, it sure looked like you all had a great time!! Shame I had to miss it, but as you know I only came back Friday, and it was just not time to go to London so soon after coming back! :( Still, there will be more, and I hope to make another one.. :) :)

  • It was a bus up to Colchester so Joe drove and we parked there. That was after getting lost and arriving at the wrong station! We always end up going all over the place whenever we come into Colchester, I blame wierd lay lines or something! You were missed as Andy said, but we'll catch up soon I hope. We can have a mini East Anglia meet up? Cheers, Lesley

  • Yes, I heard the man in the ticketbooth in Harwich menton something about the railway line between Colchester and Ipswich, to somebody else when I bought my ticket for the last stretch of my journey home.. It must have been a Saturday thing though, as it was all running smoothly on the Friday.. :) We had to stop and wait for a train from Norwich / Ipswich before we could get into Manningtree, as that had prority.. And yes, a mini Anglia meet up sounds very tempting, I must say.. :)

  • Looks like a fun time. I may one day arrive at one of those gatherings. Cheers!

  • Carl you have to do it, it's the most extraordinary thing. There were people I'd never even seen videos by that I felt so close to because they're like minded people and so warm. Everyone was so relaxed and happy it felt like we'd all been meeting up for years! Cheers, Lesley

  • Can't agree with you more Lesley. Meetups are almost as addicting as YT itself - lol. Next weekend I hope to be in Minneapolis for one and hopefully at 888 also. Glad you had a great time. And know what you mean about recording. Last meetup I was at recorded absolutely nothing. :)

  • Just amazing isn't it Danny? I can't really put it all into words and you've been there and met people like Gary, Lisa and Curt so you know exactly what I mean. It's made me think I really have to work out some way to get into Stickam though. Have a ball next weekend and if there's only a bit of footage I will completely understand now why! Cheers, Lesley

  • YAY! Looks like so much fun!

Thanks for the update in your pajamas! :D

  • I was so tired but had to try and put something on which conveyed how I felt. My footage couldn't give you the real sense of love and warmth generated by all these kindred spirits. Cheers, Lesley

  • Pajamas are warm and cozy! You definitely conveyed the sense of a long, happy day! I just love pj's! Way better than real clothes!

  • Hi Lesley! I am so happy that you had a nice time at the meetup. Thanks for sharing your day with us. I can't wait till 888! hugs, Chris

  • Chris you will have such an amazing time at 888, I wish I could join you soooo much. Just try to get some footage LOL. I was so busy talking and not near my bag so didn't film much, oops! Just couldn't get over the feeling we'd all been meeting up for years, old friends, it was so relaxed and instant. The bonds have been forged so strongly. Cheers, Lesley

  • glad you had fun Lesley. Sorry i couldnt be there. It will be on my list of things to do before i die!! :)

  • Kept looking out for you Rob, it was a shame you couldn't make it to this one. We'll catch up at the next one. Yes you have to do this, it's a must. Cheers, Lesley

  • its a long way to travel on my own for just one afternoon. I asked a few of my friends if they wanted a day out, but they were all busy unfortunately. fingers crossed for next next

  • Understood, you have a much better carbon footprint than me right now LOL. You never know where the next one will be. I was thinking you should have been there talking to the UK YouTube editor 'cos he'd be a good guy to chat about your stuff to. L

  • that would certainly be an interesting chat...hopefully at the next one.

I'm not sure my carbon footprint is anything to be proud of...i drive a big van all over the country every day!! :s

  • Very cool! I'll be driving for 4 hours to Minneapolis for that meetup next weekend, and I'm very excited about it! :)

  • Seeing the footage really gives a good feel for how the meetups are. But you just can't show the love and warmth on video, that you feel when you're really there. Just blew me away. Like you and Curt, it was just so easy and relaxed with Andy right away! Fantastic, I've sent him with a hug to give you when he sees you later in the summer. Cheers, Lesley

  • that was brilliant Lesley! Thanks so much for sharing, brought back the memories of last year's meetup. Wish I could have been there and so pleased you had a great day!

  • It was partly your footage from last year that made me really want to do this. I wasn't wrong, it was one of the best parties I've been to. Not surprised you hit it off with Roland, he's a star. Enjoy your northern meetup and try and get more footage than I did, too busy talking! Cheers, Lesley

  • Oh i am so glad you made this video Lesley, how wonderful it all looked :-)

    x hugs x

  • You've had experience of meeting up with other Tubers so you know how fantastic it is. I really am looking forward to the next one already. Hopefully we'll get to meet up and have a proper natter and a hug! Cheers, Lesley

  • Lesley I am so glad you are having a good time in London. Thanks for posting this footage of our friends..

  • It was just one day, early start and for me a very late finish. But it was sooo worth it. If you get the chance you must go to a meetup, it's hard to convey the warmth with the footage but you feel the love! Cheers, Lesley

  • Awesome.....

  • You know first hand what great people these are. It's extraordinary how relaxed and at ease everyone was, it blew me away. I hope you get the hugs I've sent back with these people to give you at SouthTube. One day I'll hug you myself. Cheers, Lesley

  • Wonderful video Lesley..I'm so glad you had such a great time!! :-D

    Hugs~Nancy

  • You all know how excited I was to go and it exceeded my expectations. I only got a few seconds of footage and it's not up to much but I wanted to share it. Just thrilling, I'm still buzzing. Cheers, Lesley

  • I gotta get me to one of those...! :)

  • Gary it's like the connection you must have with Annie only with loads of people all at the same time. Everyone has their camera out and noone feels shy or silly! Fantastic stuff, hope we get to meet up one day soon. Cheers, Lesley

  • Nice video Lesley.

It was great meeting you & everybody else yesterday. I had a great time as well & totally agree with what you said about attending a Gathering.

I'm just about to upload my footage.

    Cheers, Andy :)

  • YouTube ate my comments...nothing changes! It made it a special day meeting you Andy. But I feel like I've known you years and that is so strange and wonderful. Next round's on me...wonder when the next meetup is! Cheers, Lesley

  • I've had trouble uploading my video, but it's up there now. I've just recorded a vlog as well!

I know what you mean about feeling like we'd known each other for years. It felt like that to me as well, thanks.

Start saving those airmiles Lesley :)

  • We're going to have to start shopping at Tesco. Up and till now I've never seen the point of airmiles but now I'm wishing I'd started saving as there have been lots of things that used to do them and finished! I'm thinking of telling Joe that your video footage didn't turn out too well having seen the Popes antics! L

  • Such a Awsome lovely video. Thanks for fliming the Train for me.Cool station in london havent to been to that one before.Wow so cool i havent seen one of those trains before.Have you been to London Victoria Station Or London Charring Cross Station before.

    Hugs

    Luke

  • All my comments have disappeared! Glad you liked it Luke. There were egineering works so we had a special service Colchester to London. The coaches didn't have tables boo, but there were toilets hoorah! I think I've been to most of the major London Stations but do like Liverpool St. Cheers, Lesley

  • Your welcome.Thats Awsome i like egineering works becuase Trains stop in differnt places. Its a pain when trains have no tables at least it had toilets that good.Cool.Have you been to Littlehampton & Hastings Before i love thos areas.

    Your welcome

    Luke

  • Used to live in Littlehampton and once sat on a train there for 20 minutes before I realised it wasn't the one leaving! L

  • Thats cool.I somtimes do that.

  • So happy to see everyone having a great time! Looking forward to seeing more videos of the event.

  • Yeah! first one the comment! That's a first! LOL!

  • I don't think I've ever known when I was first so woohoo you get a big cheer from me! L

  • I should think there'll be lots of footage to view, though there was more talking than filming going on. It was terrific to be there in person now I can't wait to see everyone else's perspectives on video! Cheers, Lesley
