honestly look at america, we had the empire state builing the sears tower and ampngst other grand buuldings the twin towers. we started this trend did we not??? and i laugh when i see the burj dubai cause it is a much larger circular version of our own sears tower is it not??? by the way if a building was really 9000 feet that would make it about 3 and 1/2 times taller than the burj duabai or roughly 2828meters mposiible i say lol......i hope the freedom tower becomes the tallest thats for sure.

When I read comments like in your initial post that do a negative compare and contrast it reads like that. Im my opinion, the U.S. style in this country went negative during the 70's and to a degree during the 50's. The best was during the Art Deco era. Shanghi, Dubai and other countries are putting up tall buildings with some class to them. BUT, it's also getting silly too. Frizt Lange's 'Metropolis' is now becoming a reality.

Yeah, the John Hancock is a nice building indeed. But there are some beautiful buildings over in Dubai and China both short and tall that put the skyscrapers here to shame. But I do agree with the height thing. This is one of the reasons that it stopped in this country during the 70's. It became a contest and not a necessity.
