I love the V8 supercars i think its alot better racing than F1, NASCAR and the DTM series. Im a big fan of V8 Holdens but i used to own a 1992 Nissan Skyline GTR with a JUN motorworks engine that was 2.8L single turbo that crushed any V8 that I had a go at. Its all personnel preference bro.
@cookiesone Take the turbo off and there'd be a difference. What I was saying, if your going to strap a turbine to an engine ofcourse it will be quicker than a non forced induction engine. Do the same with a v8 and it would eat your 2.8L any day. But if you work a v8 hard enough and spend the same ammount you would have on your 2.8L turbo engine you are gaurentee'd to get more bang for your buck out of a v8 - Hence they're used in all leading racing series'.
people say there are no differences between v8 supercars, and they're pretty much right. I have raced both a ford FG supercar and a VE supercar. probably the only difference I found was that the Ford comes into a corner with a bit more speed, as its a bit more balanced, but the Holden has more low down power coming out of the corner. besides that, its the teams package that wins these days, its not ATCC anymore, its all the same.

@rx3gt Which engine are we talking about? The older ones Holden sourced from abroad (350 etc.) were Chev motors, but the 308/304 were the Aussie V8. The current LSX line that's been in use from the VT Commodore is actually a GM product, it just happened to be used in Chev and everyone thinks they designed/built it

The cars became the same the day Group A rules were dropped. There is no difference between the two they are specifically built for racing and using identical parts. The engines have even been developed so much that they are basically identical too. It's just Nascar for the Australian market now, long gone are the days road cars were race cars in top level Australian motorsports

A V8 Supercar is a fucking amazing piece of machinery. Closer to an F1 car then to what you're able to buy from a dealership. But if Nissan were allowed to enter a GTR and make it race ready then it would obviously absolutely embarrass the competition, hence Ford and Holden would never let that happen (again).

The cars became the same the day Group A rules were dropped. There is no difference between the two they are specifically built for racing and using identical parts. The engines have even been developed so much that they are basically identical too. It's just Nascar for the Australian market now, long gone are the days road cars were race cars in top level Australian motorsports

All the GT-R fans who keep saying that the local rules were changed to suit the local manufactures and ban the GT-R from winning, WTF??? the GT-R ran under group A which was a world touring car class, our locals could have competed in any overseas event if they had funding. The category died overseas, for reasons to do with homologation and parity etc, all sounds familiar, but australia just followed the trend, thats what killed the GT-R in aussie motor sport.

its just holden and ford competing they can both go and max out their cars and that would be the end of the production but slowly year by year 1 car is producing 10hp or more compared to the other car that i think called competition the reason i said they could max out the cars and then no more production but this way they can have a 307kw xr6 vs 317kw R8 its close but a v6 with forced induction then a 6.4 or 6.2 litre engine vsing it out just like the xr8 was 280kw and the xr6 turbo was 270kw

A V8 Supercar is a fucking amazing piece of machinery. Closer to an F1 car then to what you're able to buy from a dealership. But if Nissan were allowed to enter a GTR and make it race ready then it would obviously absolutely embarrass the competition, hence Ford and Holden would never let that happen (again).

Youre only talking a 15 year difference between when the 2 cars were on track mate...advances in chassis design, tyre compounds etc...would be something seriously wrong if the cars werent going quicker these days...Lets compare apples with apples, back when the GTRs were up against the VLs and VNs...well, we all know what the result was...GTR was king, Sierra was the only thing that seriously challenged it...but ban it coz we cant beat it and its killing the local car market...haha...fukn joke.

@jabob98 too right, look at F1..there are 20 odd cars out there but only a few engine makes, Ferrari, Renault, Mercedes and Cosworth...the differences between teams comes down to the grease monkeys and car designers at each team...with a driver or two thrown in for good measure.
