  • As the others have pointed out, change the damn title of the video. This is by no means a comparisson between two types of tubes. Might as well have had two different amps as well, and recorded in different ways through a different cab, running one clean and the other cranked.

  • good playing, but change the title in "jam" and not "KT66 vs. EL34". that's definetly not a comparison.

  • Bravo! Now expand your business in Europe! You can sell a alot! But keep quality the same.

Make a demo for Hot Amps 30 watt british style class A combo, please!

  • One can clearly see from the chicken necking that the KT66 tubes are more fun!

  • Its not fair to compair in this way with "different guitars made of different wood" if you demo'ed the two amp with the same guitar then the difference in the tubes would be more hearable...

thanks anyway for putting this together.. I have to get me some EL43's they sound great :)

  • search "emitron KT66" on ebay. theres a RARE MINT NOS 1950's pair

  • Great sound. Are you guys playing a particular song? If so what is it?

    Thanks

  • Some of them are only blues jam, but the one after we introduced our amps and guitars is part of our The Cell song called Someday.

  • What do you mean "34 vs 66" ? Two different players with different guitars....How can you compare the tubes in absolutely different conditions? LOL :)))))

  • KT66's sound so good man.

  • oops! GENALEX

  • I like the spank of the KT66's, but then I like the sweetness of the EL34's. It may also be the eq of the two amps, for the humbuckers have to be a little more trebly to fit with a single-coil. I like both the tones, and you guys are great players. Might go with KT66's for my amp though. The guy on the right is using the amp with KT66's right? The guy using humbuckers...

  • Hi, You´re right KT66´s are in amp on the right. I had 6L6´s before (in my HOT Amps test) but KT66´s are better.

  • Thank you, you have no idea how much that reassures me. I like how they stick out and have that spank. Do you recommend any particular brand of KT66's?

  • I don´t have much experience with brands. For me was the easiest way to buy JJ tubes. And I´m happy with that. It´s very good and You don´t pay much fur brands. I´m from Czech Republic and it´s made in Slovakia.

  • Were the JJ's featured in this video? Because if so, I'm pretty reassured in finding my tone now. :) Thank you for your answers.

  • @HighZombiesRule

Go witht he Genelex KT66's expensive...but worth every penny! and will last 1000's of hrs.

  • Better than JJ's? I'm going with Telefunken ECC83's for my preamp. I spare no expense for my tone, even if my playing is shit, XD

Thanks for the heads up, the only KT66's I could find were Electro-Harmonix, and I ain't trying that shit. :p

  • @HighZombiesRule They're so heavenly that its like a spirtual experience.

So light & refined that it leaves everything else in the dust. Genelex takes highs down just a notch but

improves the bass tremendously - deep and powerful. whole spectrum better than anything

I have heard to date - balanced !

  • Sounds great! I guess I can dial in more highs, but I'm using bright single-coils anyways, so if anything, that might be helpful. :D As long as the bass is tight and not muddy. Deep and powerful sounds really good. Balance is even better. :D Thanks, really! :D

  • @HighZombiesRule Also try some of these in conjuction with the Genalex's, theTelefunken ECC803s tubes from the 1960's, diamond-mark bottom, gold pins, gray plates from West Germany.

These are the holy grail of the 12AX7 or ECC83 series, sounding extremely smooth with extended highs, exceptional mid-range, and strong bass, quiet microphonics and clarity with great resolution to balance out the brightness of the single coils.

    good luck,

  • That's exactly what I was going to get. They are expensive, but I'm sure they'll be worth it. You know your stuff man. :)

  • @HighZombiesRule Thanks Bro.

that's what happens when you get old.

you learn stuff along the way. lol hey just a thought, check out the Kat's over at the tube monger they offer great customer service, inventory, prices, and the knowledge to back things up. i've been using them for several yrs now. Nope no affiliations, just some very positive experiences with them.

    good luck,

    Craig

  • u dudes can PLAY! nice.

  • To jsou ale klucíííí ušatííí :-D Zdraví Boleslav :-) Ať to hraje :-)

  • KT66 Rulllzzzzz! ! !

  • although you can hear the overtone differences between the tube types, it would have been best if you showed how the amps react when using both single coils and humbuckers, epscially for roaring leads. cool vid. Great sounding amps, nice chops.
