  • Maybe there is no sprayer?. Maybe you're you pumping straight from the hose onto and through the stucco wire? Any backing to hold the papercrete in place? Doesn't look like it from the interior shots. Looks like the stuff that doesn't stick is falling to the floor. But I can't tell for sure.

At first thought I was seeing you use a sprayer of some sort on the end of the hose. But it's plenty cool to see that you actually can pump fidobe or papercrete. That means I could pump it into forms. Nice

  • What is the spray gun that you are using? Does it operate solely off the pump pressure or does it require a compressor?

    Thanks,

    ken

  • get rid of the music

  • papercrete yeah! Try pouring it into car tires and make a house like Micheal Reynold's " Garbage Warrior". That should create your thermal mass. :-)

  • @MrNeosoul99

papercrete is not thermal mass .. its more like anti-thermal mass(insulator) lol

  • The 'Garbage Warrior' has everyone beat on reckless experimental building. Hate to bust anyone's bubble. -Sorry-

  • Kick ass idea, but man, that music is like nails on a chalkboard!

  • You sure the audio is supposed to sound like this???

  • thanks for sharing

do you have figures for the tensile strength of papercrete ?

i am running over a few designs for dome type structures but i want to get an idea of engineering and Govt requirements as far as strength is concerned

also looking at shotcrete for the structural shell with papercrete lining , OR polystyrene beads mixed with sand/cement for the interior lining

    thanks

  • nice music! what's the band? oh and keep the papercrete up

  • beirut - gulag orchestra

    i'm a sucker for a accordion

  • Ps Mikey, my wife LOVED the music!

    Dave from papercrete y-group.

  • Get some Mikey Sklar! Nice vid. What're the forms made of? It looks like theres nothing below the inner mesh, is that right?

  • more to come...it is difficult to shoot video with only two people while the pump is running

  • Great video.

  • Mike when you dilute that much in order to pump does it weaken the final solidified product? Many people report it is hard to pump papercrete. Thinking of buying a 6.5 hp trash pump. Will it push it? May experiment with shredding up pine needles and straw as replacement for some of my paper. What do you think? Have you heard of anyone else using pine needles? Thanks.

  • the water quantity does not make a difference for Papercrete strength. The Portland cement is caught in the fibers and not lost.

Pine needles sound like a good idea.

6.5HP is a little small go for a 9HP or larger

  • pine needles are extremely flammable. maybe do some fire tests before you make something out of them. maybe broken down they wont be so bad.

  • forty years ago while in England i saw a building material 8 feet by 4 feet one inch thick. it appeared to be made of straw and concrete if that helps pine needels might just work.

  • pretty neat..any more?
