WHEN THIS E.F.T.P.QUAD; UNIT WAS READY TO GO PUBLIC, I DEMONSTRATED THIS UNIT MYSELF WITH CHARLIE HALL AT THE NATIONAL MUSIC SHOW AT WEMBLEY ,.. HANK HEARD IT THERE, ARRANGED A MEET FOR A PRIVATE DEMO . HE LIKED IT AND TOOK TWO QUADS; BACK HOME WITH HIM TO PERTH AUSTRALIA...AND THE REST IS HISTORY...
@isitrealgood hank mite have been before David Gilmour, but it does NOT mean he matches his skill with echoing or extending a note to heights with such a fluid gentle touch...
Hank was a pioneer, Gilmour PERFECTED it! end of story
@enzo2enzo2enzo Do you suppose it helped David Gilmour that he had a model, such as Hank Marvin? I don't mean to denigrate David Gilmour at all. He's absolutely one of my favorites. But it's a lot easier to follow someone else's example, even if you're "perfecting" a particular sound.
Really enjoyed this one and it was nice to hear Hank talking about how the classic tones like Apache were created.
Was also interesting to hear about the software for the Q2 which is the EFTP programme created by Charlie Hall which I use on my Zoom G2.1Nu pedal. It is really great to use and you get such wonderful tone every time without having to muck about trying to set the delay times for seperate tunes which can be frustrating.
As I was leaving my house this morning, I saw this guy walking up the footpath and as it turns out it was unmistakably Hank. I introduced myself and we spoke for a short while. He is such a nice guy and it was a real pleasure finally meeting him after growing up listening to his music, which will live on forever. Thank you for your time this morning Hank.
I started playing guitar after listening to Hank in 1966, and used the tremelo bar right from the start, watching how he did it. I didn't even know there was another way until much later.
But only Hank Marvin got the unique sound he's famous for.
Of course the quality of that guitarwoods are exeptional !! and what more for such a rich outgoïng signal...........We cannot buy that high quality in a shop i think !!!!!.
i have an epiphone Wildkat electric that has a bigsby vibrato. i can thank hank marvin for getting me to work with my bigsby and man a lot of things opened up on the guitar
After watching this i bought an echo pedal to use with my strat, Wounderful land and apache sound great now. The echo certainly give the music a dimension. I have listened to the shadows since i was four at 36 it is great to learn to play the shadows tracks.
As Hank explains in this clip he used a Meazzi tape echo on those early hits. Meazzi was an Italian manufacturer, as was Binson, but they came from different factories. I guess it's like Bruce Welch stated: "There are now people who know more about the Shadows than Hank and me........"
you are not even musicians, you are happy to steal the work without putting their hands dirty, you dishonor your kingdom, and these artists. Marked as spam insulted when people have done in their native language if politeness is the rule in England, I fortunately your compatriots who give a different image, shame on you all intemperate criticism on videos and on the freedom of all, every body
Don't you just love Hank Marvin. He plays Great, sounds Great, Sings Great...never heard him make a mistake? And the Shadows are on tour in 2009! Hank, don't stop, 1000's of people love your work. Bruce Welch is Great also!

@razzamanaz79 Consider that Hank was doing this a good 10 years, at least, before David Gilmour started playing professionally.

Hank's the man. I was born in 1958 and Hank and the Shadows is the reason I too wanted to learn guitar. Thanks Hank.
Thanks too to the person sharing this video.

Hank is a guitar genius - all those interesting, original guitar licks in ordinary rock`n `roll songs.
The man knows his echo and reverb!
