  • We used to roll my son in a blanket, it helped but relied on him to communicate when he'd had enough. This is great that they can get out when they are ready. I made his a special vest when he was little with pennies sewn into the lining, he loved it. That was 14 years ago. So glad this type of therapy has advanced and is no longer considered strange.

  • I like that the kids can release themselves if they want.

  • I got autism and would love that.the tighter the better

  • Many people think autistic persons generally hate being touched by another person or by a thing.

Almost all autistics HATE punctual touches, like getting poked by someone.

But many autistic persons like deep pressure (rather strong pressure on wide areas of the body). It calms them down and makes them feel good.

I am autistic, and I like deep pressure very much.

It may sound crazy to non-autistic persons, but I love lying under a box filled with ~130lbs (60kg) of paper...

  • @Coiltec Thanks for the comment!! Check out Consumer Care's facebook page - we announced a Big Hug giveaway today!! :)

  • @Coiltec I don't think it's crazy, and I'm non-autistic, I actually think people need something like that every now and then

  • @daftpunk3494 - Obviously you have never met someone who resorted to rolling their child up in a carpet or gym mat and sat on them? Sounds unreal, but it's REAL! And always at their child's request! Obviously, this will sound crazy to some, but unfortunately, it is reality to others.

  • I wouldn't want anyone to put my child in this. I could see using it at home but not trusting others to use it properly.

  • He looks pretty relaxed to me.

  • I would rather have my child use a weighted blanket than this big contraption.

  • or calm and relaxed!

  • i showed this to my daughter who has SPD and she freaked lol. she's said mommy dont ever put me in that .

  • We all have our personal preferences. I am sure there are some autistic children who enjoying deep pressure while others hate it. Some children really benefit from wearing weight vests which I think is comparable to this product.

  • When I am at the dentists office and he has to repair something, I get this leadbalnket over me. And it feels fantastic. My blanket has to be heavy. My oldest daughter could not sleep if she was not wrapped. She just woke herself up with her moevements. And she was shocked easily by sound. I made my daughters a blanket filled with cherry pits. The sleep fantastic now. I do not like hugs, but pressure is not hugs, I like that. I have Autism and Tourettes.

  • My son likes to be swung in a blanket. Some may not be able to afford this therapy. Why not take several towels or stretchy material and tie them all down the body. I think I will try that on Tristan. Temple grandin probably would love the big hug.

  • I am autistic and as a child if someone put me in that, I would have not only hated it and screamed my maniacal head off, but I also would have been out of it in 2 seconds flat. I can't believe any kid especially an autistic one would like being a burrito, just saying. Ha ha. I do not like being hugged or restrained even a little.

  • that's more of what's needed, arms length remote control 'care', that's not 'welcome to the world' of inclusion, it's there you go, be happy in your own little world.

Can also be converted into a 'handy dandy' restraint system for the 'carer' who really cares, with essential 'gag' to muffle the screams...

Wow, you could put the kid on a trolley (like Hannibal Lecter) and not be embarrased going to the mall again... cool.... hi Mia

  • I am boarderline autistic and if anyone dare put me in that i would kill them. I hate tight things to this day.

  • I thought some like to held but not hugged by people.
