  • I love it! Happy Vday!

  • This tribute to Darla Hood was put together so beautifully. In my book she ranks up there with Shirley Temple in cuteness. What a face!. How could anyone not love a little girl as cute as she?

  • Darla was hot!

  • The funniest and cutest thing is that it's like going to your kids school play! LOL

  • AWESOME tribute to Darla! Her songs, dances, her special glow. Thanks! Great video!

  • I love her singing style! Do you know the name of the first song she sings at around 1:20?

  • @leoray1234 If you go on a google search for I'll never kiss you again, you'll find that Nat King Cole must have sung it and the lyrics of the song.

  • old times..

  • I loved how the producers or whomever had the children parody movie stars of that era....

  • Who's the canary singing at the beginning? Great voice.

  • Wonderful tribute to Darla!

  • betty boop incarnate, lol.

  • wait did the kid die at 3?

cause you said in 1935 she was born and she died in 1938

  • AH! DARLA! She was quite possibly every guy's first Major crush if he was lucky enough to grow up in the era when the Little Rascals were on local T.V..

To any who think it was racist,I point out that Farina (most appearances of all),Stymie, and Buckwheat, were often the leaders and/or the most sensible characters as were the various Maids,Janitors and Gardeners of the adults!

  • @aragorn5284 There were NO local televisions when the Little Rascals were on top. In fact The Little Rascals were not even the Little Rascals. They were known as the Our Gang Chronicles & television was not invented for a full 20 years after the Little Rascals were in movie shorts

  • The he man women haters club stands no chance against the mellifluous voice of the one and only Darla Hood! Our knees go weak...

  • Darla & Alfalfa forever !! <3 :D

  • Growing up watching the Little Rascals will always and forever be in my heart!! Darla was without a doubt an adorable character. Alfalfa was like James Bond....he always ended up going home with the bad guys girlfriend.

  • sadly, she was only in her mid to late 40s when she passed, they say she died after getting Hepetitis !

  • freaky buckwheat's look at 4:15

    hahahahaha

  • THANKS FOR BRINGING BACK WONDERFUL INNOCENCE

  • Thank you for posting this. The little rascals were the best. No matter how many remakes or movies made from this little rascals concept, they will never be the same.

  • That's a great tribute, to someone i grew up watching :)

  • I don't know if anybody already mentioned this - but Hal Roach was the man who brought both Our Gang and Laurel & Hardy to the big screen. He had such a great vision and a natural knack for spotting talent - like he did in Darla Hood. His films, although mostly made during the great depression, were remarkably upbeat and funny, in stark contrast to the real plagues of that time. A little known fact... he hired Darla immediately after meeting her, but sent Shirley Temple away after her audition.

  • This is charming !! How saddening to learn that Darla left us at such a young age.

Thank you for sharing this great post.

  • Ab 2.05 beginnt mein Favorit!! SUPER, SUPER, SUPER ..... unerreicht!!!!!

  • I loved Darla!

  • Is that Darla Hood singing at the beginning? I heard she used to sing jingles or do voice overs as an adult. Great voice.

  • Thank you for posting this. I love it!

  • What a piece!

  • America's darling daughter

  • Bless her heart and may she live forever and delight us forever!

  • This is brilliant! Loved it, Northbreed1! Darla was a doll and a very, very talented child and adult. Gone too soon...

  • Darla was such a pretty little girl! And how many four-year-olds could sing like that? Not many. I think she out sang Shirley Temple. I read somewhere that Shirley Temple couldn't get NEAR Hal Roach studios.

  • I remember in the 1970s when adult Darla used to host televised episodes of the Little Rascals on a local station in Los Angeles.

  • LOL awwww @ 5:00 she is too cute singing this song, I love that dress she is wearing, and the little boy she is singing to is adorable as well. I wish they had a show like this with cute kids on it these days doing stuff like this, that would be so cute. But alas, the good days are over and now we have mIley figgin Cyrus. and Disneys Tween Shows "good Grief"

  • @Pam4Rob XD she has a baby face also

  • aww I love that picture of her with Stan Laurel. What an awesome picture. I know Darla isn't alive anymore, but does anyone know the year she passed away, where, and how she passed away. I'm doing a report on the lives and deaths of the Oringinal Little Rascals

  • @Pam4 Rob Darla died in 1979. She was just 47 years old.

  • @Pam4Rob she died due to surgical complications

  • But Linkletter, from his reputation, is one of a few (like Red Skelton, Ozzie Nelson, Desilu and Jack Benny) who may have had the foresight to preserve his works, retaining creative control over such.

  • I recall, as a child, watching Darla Hood as an adult on Art Linkletter's "House Party."

In fact, I recently thought of that program because of the recent passing of Mr. Linkletter.

Most people only seem interested in the "Kids Say The Darndest Things" segments of "House Party." But I think it would be wonderful if some episodes of the complete programs would surface, if not here on You Tube, then commercially.

  • 7:38 what film is that scene from?

  • I loved her every little girl wanted to be Darla :)

  • She was PRECIOUS!!!!!

  • i love darla i wish she was still alive as a kid

  • Alfalfa in black face @ 2:48 ! lil rascists um rascals lol!

  • Darla has been my all time favorite of the Our gang leading ladies. Not only she was a great singer but she can dance too like her ballet like scene on Arbor Day and a tap trio on Captian Spanky's Showboat. Its sad that she died in June 1979 the month I graduated High School and I had hoped to meet her her one day but it never happened. She was so cute and will always be missed.

  • Simply wonderful! This brings back happy memories of watching these when I was little and then my son watching when he was young. Darla was a real sweetie and it was nice seeing my favorite, Porky!

  • Great video. Thanks for all your hard work and sharing.

    THANKS again.

  • It is so sad that she contracted hepatitis and died at the age of 47. She was always one of my favorites she had such talent

  • Back in the day, Darla was the shiznitz. Great childhood memories.

  • 2:44 racist. lol

  • Love everything about her

  • if i will got a baby girl i want to be like she, she´s a cutie, talented and beautiful charming girl. i love she!!!

  • soooooooooo cute

  • watch out Shirley.

  • Aw, wasn't she cute?

  • Boy did i have a MAJOR crush on Darla! I bet I wasn't the only one.

  • Cute, talented, and died far to young. I beleave she did the singing for the mermaid in the chicken of the sea commercials.

  • Darla had the same star power as Shirley Temple.

  • Love it !

  • I love it ! thanks for posting

  • She is a Cutie!

  • Darla was a charm indeed , she was an Idol of mine as a child too.....

  • Fantastic thanks for sharing!

  • Wonderful comment.

  • When I was about 8, I'd role play with little friends and they'd pick who they would 'be'. I always chose Darla Hood. They'd laugh it off as nerdism. I'm 42 now and she still dazzles me. She died so very young, I remember the day it was on the news. I was crushed. Then, she was my alter-ego, now she's my little girl in my heart.

  • "joy be unconfined"

  • Darla Hood is more adorable and talented than Shirley Temple in my honest opinion.

  • What a cutie! I love when she sings "I'll Never Say Never Again Again."

  • soo precious, i think everyone loves Darla

  • great video! she was so adorable!

  • Thank you for this great video. I love watching Darla, she is the cutest.

    Pookie

  • Great tribute, Thanks! I must say, I got a little choked up there. Darla Hood, my first crush! She left us too soon.

  • Very enjoyable, thanks!

  • I often thought that Darla inspired Ruby Keeler with her musical persona. Darla was also a bit preferable to Alfalfa's rendition of "I'm In The Mood For Love". Five stars, even though your ratings are disabled. Cordially, John

  • Cute as a button!! Thanks!

  • Our Gang - takes me back. I remember watching these on tv when I was a little kid. Thanks -- fun !!
