I definitely just got the sinking lure as a kid - before even getting the Zora's Sapphire! Then again, the version I'm playing now is the 3DS remake, so maybe you had to be adult Link for the N64 version? I was when I got it in that version.

There's one thing I noticed:

When you catch a fish with the sinking lure it is "illegal".

To make your catch legal first talk to the guy and ask him for a new lure ("let's talk about something else") and he'll notice the new lure. Actually it's against the rules but he'll say that you can use it. Every fish you catch then will be legal :)

Any hints? D: What I do is hold z and a for fast reeling, and change up the joy stick to the left and right. I caught a 20 pound fish my first go super easily! :3 (not using sinking lure)

I FINALLY caught the loach! 34 pounds!

I gave up trying to enter the fishing zone right when the cuckoo sings/wolf howls. I must have went in about 75 times and never found the loach. I finally found him when I went in at night, with the moon high up in the sky. It was near the sunken log.

I paid for the rod, found the sinking lure, and then it took about 15 minutes to get him to bite the lure. Another 5 minutes reeling him in.

I'm glad I can finally say I caught this damn fish, lol

OOT Master Quest as a kid before I beat Jabu Jabu, I found two small Hylian Loaches in the water of the pond, I caught 1 but it was only 15 lbs. I was thinking of taking a screen shot but I didn't, I was too excited of the thought of actually catching one.

You really ought to edit that tid bit. You can in fact find it as a kid. Also, if you stay in there for approx three days and nights the loach does eventually pop up on it's own. It takes a lot longer that way, but that is what I use to do with my friend, Hahah. But yes, it is possible to find the sinking lure as a kid. I've done it several times...no cheats or any BS either...just the original OoT cartridge.

patience is the only tip I can give you!

when you have the lure and find the loach, the only way to get its attention by moving the lure slightly, is when it goes to the surface for air. Keep trying, I plan to do a complete walkthrough for this sometime.

I think when you're a kid, the loach rises to the top of the pond every 30 seconds, just so it's possible to catch it with the floating lure.

The Loach is very difficult to snag, mainly because its 99% oblivious to the lure, if it comes close enough and you wiggle it slightly theres a chance it might catch the loach's attention, keep doing that and it may bite. Then you gotta reel it in lol, that can take longer!

I'm not sure what your asking, but if I remember correctly you have to wait for Hylia Lake to fill with water before you can access the fishing pond. I can't remember if its part of the story or if you just have to play the song of storms.

Its one of gamings most famous side quests and is known for being notoriously hard to complete. There are entire websites and forums dedicated to catching the Hylain Loach, and judging by the comments and questions I have received there is still a big cult following around this thing. If you knew anything about games (Zelda in particular) you woudnt ask such a stupid question.

Ive had this game for years and never been able to find the sinking lure. Ive checked all the places the people have said but i still cant find it. What does it look like and do you find it by just running over it and you pick it up automatically??

Yes you will find it automatically when you run over it, the best way to go about finding it is to start by running a full circle around the walls of the area to check off the grass, then try the small stream and the crack in the rock from which it flows, then check the reeds and rocks on the edge of the pond, then finally check the log sticking out of the water. good luck.

Well, in the beta version of the game, there was an enemy that was an Arwing from the Star Fox series. But it got cut from the final release. Since it was in the beta version, people were able to get screenshots/videos of it, which made others think it was an enemy in the real game.

I found the sinking lure as a kid. It was by some rocks. It only happened once, two days ago, so it was probably a glitch. Once it was in the tank though, it said caught with illagle sinking lure.
