I don't care what anyone says, this video is awesome. FABTASTIC performance. I like th ewink in the eye humor. And the idea that the producer was pushign for better and better.
This would have been slightly more tolerable if they had left the "jokes" (and I use the term LOOSELY) visual and not polluted the soundtrack with it. Oh, and choir singer dude at 2:37 - Seriously? You couldn't fake singing for the entire note?
I agree with a lot of the other comments on here. This is just not the type of song you base a bland at best comic skit around, a ballad? C'mon? Maybe something like No One Togetrher ..maybe but not this. It's like if Zeppelin released a video for Stairway and had Billy Crystal and Robin Williams in it...yeah! That would work! LOL
This was a big mistake for Kansas to agree to do this video.A huge mockery of this VERY talented group of musicians.I think if Kansas is reluctant to put out another Album/CD,they should hang it up.They look tired, and bored playing on stage half the time. How many times can they play the same ol' songs night after night?Maybe it's the reason why Kansas minus Walsh put out a cd? I look at it this way.IF the Eagles can put out a double CD of all new material,at their age,so can Kansas.
Walsh readily attributes this song to it's creators. He also says it's incredibly hard to sing. This song is amazing. Walsh's voice is still unparalleled in the rock world.
Completely agree. In my opinion, this is the greatest male rock vocal performance ever put to record. It just builds and builds and just when you think he can't go any higher or sing with any more power, he goes into that last chord change. Goosebumps.
My favorite Kansas song....too bad the studio version doesn't have the big orchestra and the big choir, and actually I'm not even sure this version is available anywhere.
Mine too, except it's not a Kansas song. This is a cover of a song by the Producers, off of their 'Run For Your Life' record. Some places list the writers as 'Morse, Van Temple, Smith', but Steve Morse didn't have anything to do with this track - it was written in 1984 by Tim Smith and Van Temple. The original pressing was only 10,000, and then a follow up of 20,000 total, so it's a hard record to come by.

Best male vocal performance of all time - and he never gets credit. Steve Walsh is THE greatest rock singer of all time.

One of the best power ballads of all time.

I like how his voice deepened between the first Streets album and this one. He kind of sounds like Jimi Jamison from Survivor!

My favorite part of this video is the gospel choir with its token white member, who is a dead ringer for Monica Lewinsky.
