I am an old school guy myself. I agree, she is the best female artist today. Her voice, her writing, her covers, are all incredible. She has a range unmatched by anyone today.
I never get tired of listening to her. The more you hear, the better she gets. That is the mark of genius.
@wayupwaydown Thoroughly agree with you wayupwaydown. Brandi is certainly a very, very rare talent...oh and she's a very nice person too, an even tougher test for someone so talented to pass! Long may we enjoy her extraordinary talents, so richly captured on her new album too, I might say (Live at Benaroya Hall, with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra), in which she demonstrates how the best and rarest talents are at their finest when performing live.
I was trying to explain to one of these old school cats, (who was a big name around the time Janis took no prisoners at the Avalon Ballroom,) why Brandi Carlile is the greatest artist America has to offer today. Being of the pure 'folk' idiom, I thought we might reach an understanding. The sad has been, (with a weak schoolboy ego) simply could not acquiesce to her awe inspiring greatness.
it's been so long ago since I left my babe behind for the airforce, and it rained real hard the night I left, but I can still see her blue eyes cryin in the rain...oh lonesome me....thanx for the fond and vivid memories....
I just discovered Brandi tonight on Austin City limits, I am amazed to say the very least. The most amazing talent connected to a voice I have ever heard and seen.
I want to hear her do a cover of a Janis Joplin song. She has such vocal control with regards to when her voice breaks, and I for one think she'd do an amazing job.
I would love Brandi to do an album of country songs such as this one. Done seriously of course, though I appreciate her humour when doing comedic takes on songs such as ' Stand By Your Man'. If she can sing songs that can be applied to females (of course normally sung by male country singers) then that would be ideal.
Very emotionally for all blue eyes forever !

Magnifique. Brandi a non seulement une voix magnifique et chaude mais elle chante en plus avec son coeur et son âme. Une chanteuse vraiment douée.
Merci pour le post.
