  • KEEEHHHLIIIIGGGGG!!!!! DAS MUSS WEG!!!

  • Don't get too ahead of yourself, man - you're young yet for this. I know the temptation is there but there's a reason everyone's saying to wait to sing certain stuff - you'll kill your voice. Just keep taking lessons and work on your technique.

  • If I had'nt known the text, I wouldn't have understood a single word.

  • Make sure that your expression and strength of sound comes from BREATH alone. Attempting to sound too mature when the muscle and control of the breath is not there can be damaging. Good potential!!!

  • bad, bad, bad

  • Learn a trade, just in case

  • Totally loved your voice...keep working!

  • Not bad, but you must learn to breathe, so that you can sing the melody lines uninterrupted, and may I advise you also to work with your sound, as your voice is very dark.

The sour old Danish vocal trainer

  • Pronunciation is hard, I know... but certainly, for a 17-year old young MAN - I am not that much older - you can't expect too much. Would like to hear you somewhat older.

  • Well, at least you have courage

  • Great voice to develop further over the next years. Never stop singing! You've got it.

  • he he along with time passes by He will be one finest baritone singers

  • You have a lovely voice... but are a little young for strauss in my opinion

  • Never too young for Strauss! He has pieces appropriate for every level of study.

  • @amwam this isn't one of them

  • Work on the German Pronunciation and get a good foundation for your voice. Go and properly learn the basics. It sounds like your trying to froce the sound, at your age, you shouldnt be doing that. I've been told that.

  • горлодёр, дует в нос гнусаво, голос в разных местах, такое пение ничем не трогает, скорее это не баритон, а тенор...горлит чудовищно, ужас какой!

  • nice

  • molto grazie for your long answer

  • I wouldn't even say work on technique, work on the basics, the foundation for the rest of your work. Technique comes in time, but for a voice like that, let it grow naturally before anyone plays around with it. Learn proper breath support, good diction, and stage presence. These are what a young singer needs, not having technical information shoved down their throat...explore repertoire, just do it responsibly and under the guidance of a teacher.

  • You are wrong. Good voice, but absolutely wonderful song of Richard Strauss (the best songs' composer).

  • It isn't the emotion that is missing, it is the vocal development and training. I think you are a tenor actually, but you will have to develop and learn how to access the high notes.

  • i would really watch your german diction, it sounded like french a few times....you do have a promising voice, but be careful about placement, i think you're depressing your larynx too much and the sound is going back. just be careful about who you study with in college. i go to crane school of music up in potsdam, ny and it's pretty decent

  • I agree wholeheartedly....get a really good teacher....if anyone tells you're a baritone at 17 years old they have no clue what they're doing. Find a teacher that will work with you on TECHNIQUE learn HOW to sing over the next few year and allow your technique to bring you to your voice type. Very promising voice! Good luck!

  • eh, the passaggios are pretty apparent, even if the timbre of the voice is not yet mature. you can still classify the voice on a general level, not the fach though...

  • damn dude, you have a really mature voice!

  • You have a very good voice, but you need a good vocal coach/accompanist who knows what he is talking about. There are lots of problems...legato, pronunciation, intonation, etc. etc. Your voice is very promising, but you need a good coach to fix the obvious problems.

  • nice one :-)

  • Please don´t worry about beeing compared to professional or semiprofessional singers! I wish, you really you would love to go on learning and never, never loose your passion! You are just about 17, so there is still enough time to get all the expressions and technique your personality and your voice allows! All the best, I know you can do it!

  • une très belle découverte!

  • well something happened with you-tube and l have to start again. Look at your mail l shall tell you more, but please keep singing The voice is very important. You have a real natural voice, something l shall tell you. So Long joana. Listen to Jonas Kaufmann , he sings also this Lied, he is marvelous!

  • Very promising voice here. Please don't be tempted to be pushed too early into large repertoire as that can be very damaging to young voices. Work with a good teacher and concentrate on singing without a dropped palate, get a good resonant tone (you're halfway there) and work a bit on your performance. Sometimes the tone is a little nasal, but it's a really good voice that should take you far! All the very best with it.

  • GOOD JOB!!

  • B R A V O!!!!!!!!!!! HABE DANK!!!!!!

  • Joey your on youtube....it's ericca!!!! this is so crazy, your sooo good!

  • The quality of your voice seems to be even better on repeated hearings. The proposed posting of your second version of this song is something to look forward to with interest.

  • The sound quality is very bad, but from what I can tell, you have quite a voice, work on your diction!

  • joe u rock !!!

    Love, andi

    (ur cousin)

  • Hey Joe this your neighbor Steve. Excellent Job man! I'm sure I'll see you next week when I come home for spring break!

  • Did'nt manage to post this so now retry. You sing this very difficult and beautiful song very well. Pls. don't think opening your mouth wide and blunting the "EE" vowels will open your voice. Rather the opposite, and will make you sing flat. Continue work with a dedicated teacher, and listen to the best singers, but don't copy their faults. Support, line and head resonance should be your guardian angels. All the rest will follow.

  • You sing really well. Please remember that opening your mouth wide and blunting the "EE" vowels will not open your voice. Rather the opposite.(and will make you sing flat) I doubt if many other singers of your age, anywhere, could make so good a performance of this very difficult and beautiful song. Don't worry about anything, but work on support, line and head resonance with a dedicated teacher. Listen also to the best, but don't adopt their faults. The rest will happen.

  • ok,

    but mr Baritone-

in what language do you sing??????????

WORK on text, cause it's nothing like german...

on youtube is good performence by J.Norman. try to listen...

  • Better and much better Jonas Kaufmann

  • lol!

  • the pianist looks like Hitler :D:D:D

  • lmao hell yeah he does!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing!

  • Good for you! Yeah - high notes come half-step by half-step and as your larynx continues its descent they will become easier and easier.

Congratulations. It is clear that you have a great teacher and that you are doing great things.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Very nice - curious - have you tried this in the high key??

  • Go to a good teacher. great potential. Your language will fall in place. You're a little young to fully comprehent the breadth of this poem, but that will come. Every time you sing the melody (has to be different) Go to the vowels more. example: die hertzen krank. THat will come when you discover true legato and coloring according to the word you're on. Congratulations, young man. Get to work on that good intrument.

  • l think the same he has to go to a good teacher, voice craft, some notes are musically correct and some German Yo sing this Lied it's important to understand the text. The boy has a voice,,, just STUDY

  • 17?? Wow, close my eyes, and I'm in Europe at something elite and professional! Congratulations Joey. What a blessing to have a gift you love and pursue developing. And to have your friends appreciate your art! Life is good. My BEST, pam

  • WOW. This is very powerful. I think you are developing a wonderful instrument. Congratulations.

  • Hello, Joe. Your performance had me cheering with the high school audience at the end. Outstand voice! Keep up the good work and thank you for sending this to me as a Video Response. --Bill
