  • Its obvious that Thuomas was not born to sign but with no doubt cause of all his musical education he knows theoretically the proper way to do it. So technically his is correct. ( But only in this way :P :P )

  • I love Nightwish so much!!!

  • he's average. Singing wise. Marco is better, but Toumas isn't terrible.

  • HE IS BAD

  • ande esa cancion no me gustaba en el cd pero se me hace que fue por la remasterizacion que antes no se oia bien me encanta !!

  • Okay I love the words he writes and and the music he plays and composes, but you have to be such an obsessed blind fan to call this off key yowling singing. His notes are almost all flat and that is why he probably chose to redo the song. He's not as bad in Beauty and the beast and in the carpenter it fits, but his vocals in this song eh.

  • @TEHWizardsofWoontown Too bad he is a bag of dicks

  • @AchilliesLastStand1 He is a pretenious dickhead these days isn't he.

  • @TEHWizardsofWoontown I love how he claimed Tarja was trying to keep the spot on herself, but when you watch a concert you don't see her doing anything like that.On the End of an Era show you could see him looking at her with malice

  • @AchilliesLastStand1 Hell even if she was keeping the spotlight on herself she deserved it. Maybe she was cocky but people listened to the band for her voice. Tuomous is a fantastic writer but nobody in the early days was there for that

  • @TEHWizardsofWoontown She was nowhere near cocky,She was quite humble

  • @TEHWizardsofWoontown No, Tarja's fans listen to the band for her voice. Nightwish's fans listen Nightwish to hear Tuomas's music.

  • @Doum92 Yeah and Tarja's voice was half of what made them great. Raise your hand if your sick of Tuomas writing songs about how great of a poet he is.

  • @TEHWizardsofWoontown People say his singing is good not because they think he is the best singer the world has seen and deserves a award, but because he always comments on how terrible he thinks he is. So it's more like saying that "Oh, well it isnt THAT bad" like what the nice kids in high school used to tell people in art class who were embarrassed of their bad art.

  • This version's different.

  • @LivingdeadMetal I think this is the original version. They did a remake later.

  • I like it more over remake....pure early Nightwish...Godlike....mark my words one day we'll have most epic reunion

  • @omentummajus I reall like both of them... but I guess I just prefer when Tonny sings, the verses feel more like an "Astral Romance" than this. "This constant longing for your touch, this bitter ocean of hatred and pain, this loneliness I need to be who I am... The oceans are as alone as I, somebody take away this gift of mine! No charisma for the beast, but still I'll love you forevermore!"

  • @slashes22

Tonny masters it live way better, true.but this original brings back memories to me,so I think that's why I like it better

  • Tuomas isn't a horrible singer.... Tony is better, and of course Marco- but I have heard worse singing and compared to those people...... he's good.

  • The remake is better... Btw is Tuomas singing? I though he was Tony Kakko...

  • @CanalTal I like Tuomas dude but Marco is a way better singer. And let me remind you i think he is very good in this song

  • tuomas sounds like a kareoke singer. but he can compose really well. i laughed... i feel bad.

  • Tuomas is a genius musician but while he has incredible talent on writing music and lyrics his voice is as good as shit. Hopefully he can understand this

  • i like this version better than the remake

  • @IAmTheAbsoluteBest And Ever Dream is from Century Child, when Marco joined in. Dids you ever read to what I responded?

  • This is 1996 or 1997. Marco didn't join until like, two albums later.

  • @Stargeek2006 1997 according to their page

  • @jenn91 You're right, I was mixed up. They started in 1996 and the album is from 1997.

  • I love this song, and the last solo.

Unfortunely now they are too much symphonic metal

  • @linkinn18 Omg! I agree with everything you just said xD (I was about to say something like that till I saw your comment xD

  • Tuomas sucks =0 Tony Kakko's version is much better! \m/ >_< \m/

  • it as an angel

  • This song is greaat

    I love both versions.

  • So this IS his voice... i expected it to be deeper. But, who cares? I love it XD

  • Tuomas has a cute voice *^,^*

  • It's weird, because Tuomas sings off-key here some of the time, whereas he sings all right on the other songs on Angels Fall First, especially Beauty And The Beast. I don't think he had a bad voice, just needed to work on hitting some of the notes. Ah well, he's still an incredible songwriter, and I'm so going to see these guys next time they tour ;-)

  • this is NOT the remake! i got both albums and the remake is on over the hills and far away !

  • I prefer this version to the remake

  • i love this song so much

  • I love this song... :) Both versions...

Although the 2001 remake is like... the end of the romance... lol

  • increible!!!

  • i like both of the versions of this song :)

  • I know why Tuomas stopped singing after this album =) The remake with Tony Kakko sounds incredible!!

  • can anyone understand what tuomas is singing ?

  • just about, but tbh i think it might be partly down to the mix, ive got the lyrics here, its:

"Departed by the guillotine of death

I recived a letter from the depth

The dream of my lover it carried inside

    Caressed by the sharpest knife

I asked you to be my wife

    Rays of the setting sun

were my tears wept upon promises undone."

then the whispered bits "Come to me, make me believe to you and your love again"

they changed it when they re-recorded it though

  • Comment removed

  • No dude thats the remake. He's talking about this version.

  • @BockwurstBob Actually, in this version it IS Tuomas, Tony Kakko only sung in the 2001 remake (on the Over The Hills And Far Away LP)

  • No, this one is the original.

  • is it tuomas ?!

    amazing song anyway...

  • Great song...I love it. Even in their first days they made epic tracks

  • I think Tumoas sounds like some sort of merry pirate :P

  • *Tuomas

  • Its Spelled Tuomas

  • In case you didn't notice I corrected myself >_>

  • XD Wrong Again

  • Look where I said *Tuomas and you'll find i did indeed correct it :> And it was just a typo... as long as you knew who I meant it doesn't really matter, right?

  • I think Tuomas voice is fine... and I like it in this song for example...

  • It's unpretentious. I really like it.

  • @GbyOriordan Is this Tuomas singing???

  • @maribeetle Yep, he is :P

  • @GbyOriordan wow :D :D :D I didn't knew that he could : )) love him

  • @GbyOriordan I agree, he sings better then the mercenary fucks that complain about him.

  • jajaja...ahhhh adoro a tuomas pero sinceramente su voz de causa mucha gracia...por cierto se nota que recien comenzaban...la voz de tarja uhmm..primer album claro esta...:)

  • i like this version :D tuomas's voice fits perfectly :D im used to this version better than tony's version

  • a song very good

    i love the song

  • Tuomas should sing louder, he sounds better on the high, strong notes

I like his voice but when he's soft he goes all over the place

  • Haha, no, Tuomas should just never sing...EVER.

  • from what i heard, tuomas doesnt like singing, hes described returning to vocals as his worst nightmare

  • yeah, I heard that too, and I don't really blame him :) singing is scary!!

  • ...and he's right... I mean one of the greatest Metal composers and keyboardists, but he's really not good as a singer! Luckly, they've got Marco Hietala!

  • that's pretty much every guy i've ever met, lol

  • @TheRealVolanaro i don't know why,he has wonderful singing, like in everdream for example (male vocals at the end where him) and the carpenter.

  • @evilass334 No, they were Marco's.

  • @AnteojosdeFanny ...that was marco!? the duet at the end was marco? i swear i sounded like toumas.

  • @TheRealVolanaro i can see why :P

  • IT IS Tuomas, people~~

  • ya his singing is a bit weak, but theres always room for improvement.

  • He had so much promise.

  • Tuomas can't really sing that well, unfortunately. However, this is a good song :)

  • well... he's not a singer :P but he's still the greatest poet of all times!!!

  • great songwriter, yes, but his poetry isn't always that great, let alone the greatest of all time. Take the Kinslayer, which can hardly even be called a poem!

  • what??? kinslayer is a great art of dark poetry :P

nwyz we all have our own opinions, but if u know a better writer and has the same style of writing plz can u give me his name?

  • I personally don't even think Kinslayer can be called a poem. It's too straightforward and obvious. A poem needs to have some secrets that are unraveled in speaking it or contemplating it. Kinslayer's got nothing like that. It doesn't even have negative capability. It alludes to a tragic event and gives us its opinion. If you want a better poet "of the same style," that might be difficult. in terms of a better poet, that's not too tough. how about Robert Frost? How about reading some Homer?

  • I personally rewrote the lyrics to Kinslayer for fun, and while I wouldn't call my revision a masterpiece, I can at least say it's better than the original.

  • you're always talking abt the kinslayer!!! :P what about the other songs?? try to rewrote one of them :P

  • you're right that some of the lyrics are pretty good. like ghost love score along with most songs on once and century child. oceanborn has strong lyrics as well. the only reason I brought up Kinslayer is b/c you contended my claim that it's not an example of good poetry...

  • nwyz as u wish we all have our own opinions...

  • Maybe in your opinion. But i think Tuomas is great singer but it doesen't mean that everybody must like his singing.

  • And the opinions of a few otehrs, but, heh, each to his own. He's a great songwriter, he jsut doesn't sound confident when singing on this song

  • this is an amazing song, but tuomas' voice really is a blemish on an otherwise beautiful song. if Marco were singing it, it'd be perfect.

  • Yeah, Marco is a better singer than Tuomas. I love Marco's singing on the Islander, that song is great! :)

  • But I don't like Marcos ugly singing on Master Passion Greed.

This song is so great! Old Nightwish rocks even more than New Nightwish!

  • master passion greed is sorta the best track on DPP >.>

  • I don't think so. It's creat track. I think The Poet And THe pendulum is best but Master Passion Greed Is the second best

  • Master Passion Greed is very Thrash Metal ish. I love the song, but I can see why some people may not.

  • Marco wasn't in Nightwish at that point, they had a different bassist who left. (No duh...)

  • lol, did I actually say Marco was a member back then? Still, tuomas should have used voice synthetics like he did in Oceanborn!

  • Voice synthetics? Idk what it is, but it sounds like computer voices, and they definitely didnt use such a thing on Oceanborn. The guy with the weird voice is Tapio Wilska.

  • hmmm didnt tuomas holopainen sing the old version?

  • No it's not... I thought it was Thuomas? (I dunno if I spelt his name right.)

  • No that is Tuomas singing. I recognize his voice from Beauty and the Beast.

  • Emppu did the bass (and the guitar of course) on this album!

The other bassist joined later, he played on Oceanborn, Wishmaster and Over the Hills...

  • Sami Vänskä

  • Epic.
