  • Thanks helped a lot. :-)

  • Hello Davin,

    I have one question.

When if I make a clean install of my windows 7 pro and I install all my drivers like videodriver mobo drivers etc. Can i make a booteable DVD DL and put it all back before startup. Because my computer crash last week and I must install all drivers and programs. I mean like a recovery Disc.

    THX

  • thank you so much man I love you no homo you explained it in a very nice way so I finally understood what I was doing.

  • can u boot the computer up with an external hard drive where i first put the image

  • Windows 7 already has this feature:

1.) Control Panel > System and Security > Backup and Restore

2.) Left Panel "Create a system image"

3.) Burn or Save to another hard drive

It saves all your games, programs, settings, files EVERYTHING an exact copy :)

To use it in a critical time make a repair disk as well.

  • Do you have to make a rescue disk if you make an image on an external hard drive? I have to wipe my HDD because its crapping out on me, so will the files on the HDD work without the disc?

  • usefull video , will this also work with xp?

  • can i just do specific files or folders with this and restore a new computer or hard drive with a different operating system on it, and it would transfer the files i imaged to the new computer or hard drive?

  • but if you need multiple dvd disks if you chhose to create the image on a disk. how do you use it to boot your operating system again. do you insert the disk one by one?

  • Hey DavinDaGeek,

can you explain more about the bootable rescue CD

what does it do? cause i dont know what its about

  • @xxHighChiefxx It's a cd that you can boot from instead of booting from your Hard Drive.

  • mate i was wondering do you know how to install the OS on the hard drive like laptops without a CD drive i do have a CD drive but is to much hassle to boot from CD drive every time it would be cool to have it on my hard drive write back

  • @8ballmad15 Yes, just copy all of the files from your Installation cd, then put them in the usb stick. Now you have to make sure your computer is capable of booting from usb. you'll have to look at that in your boot window when you first start your computer up.

  • @DavinDaGeek thank you very much for your help i now no ho to install from usb but i was looking for help with putting my OS on a separate partition and make it show it will show up when i turn on the PC it will give me a chance 2 reboot like web books with no CD drive and not having 2 use a usb

  • hey how you change the toolbar into the upper??

  • @bat5boyz25 rightclick on your taskbar, and uncheck lock taskbar, then grab the taskbar and drag it up to the top.

  • @DavinDaGeek Thank you very much..:-) bong from:Philippines..

  • you could make a system restore iso then wipe the whole hard drive and get drivers on a different cd and your files

  • about how many GB will the backup take

  • @theone2161 That will depends on how much stuff you have on your computer. My backup was 32MB.

  • @DavinDaGeek And how many GB was your hard drive that you backed up? I'm about to backup a 500 GB, wondering how big the backup will be from that.

  • can i have the image that i want to backup on an an external hard drive and then use a rescue cd to access that external hard drive and restore from that external hard drive?

    please reply someone...

  • @XxXxDreamWeaverxXxX Yes. I believe the rescue CD acts like a live OS. In any case you absolutely should be able to reach the backup clone/image you made and placed on the external drive (regardless if I'm right about it acting like a live OS).

  • will the rescue disc save my documents, music, drivers, photo and bookmarks ? Do you need an external hardrive for all of this? Because i don't have one so that's why i asked.

  • @Speakup84 The image will contain everything on your system. That's why it's called an image. The rescue disc allows you to access and restore that image if you can't boot into Windows. Really restoring an image is a little drastic unless your system doesn't change much so you might like to also backup the documents/music etc. separately for easy access.

  • @MrCoolBoy1990 Ahh, I'm sorry for the late reply X__x lol but you're gonna need the bootable disc to boot from. That's the only way. pretty much all the system restore programs need a bootable disc of some sort.

  • do you know how I can restore from a disc clean up. I did one and by accident lost all my pictures. I do them all the time and it is all I can think of why my pics are suddenly missing? Thought I would ask. Thanks.

  • @shovelkels3 Odds are I'm far to late to help but if this happens again...

If you had an image/clone of your drive, like what this video is about, with the missing data then you could restore and get it all back. You could have searched for the pictures with a recovery utility like Recuva from Piriform (the same people who make CCleaner). Something doesn't sound right though, pics shouldn't go missing like that. In any case now you have motivation to backup everything in the future.
