  • It can take some practice to get comfortable with sewing elastic in this way. How hard you pull the elastic can vary from person to person - some like it pulled really tight and some really loose (especially if you have a really plump baby). I pull mine so that it will give a nice even gather, but not so hard that the elastic is stretched to its limits. I'd say pull it to maybe around 80% of what it can be pulled to.

  • I hope this is as easy as it is in the video - I'm on my way downstairs to do it. Could you add a comment for how tight to pull the elastic as you sew? Just a snug?

  • Thanks for this tutorial. My mother hasn't had to make diapers in at least 25 years and was having trouble remembering how to do the elastic to show me how to complete my project of diapers for my daughter.
