People have been talking crisis with Japan for 18 years or so, but many here earn between 40,000 and 100,000 USD per year. These wages dominate what can be made by the average person anywhere in Asia save Singapore. So, what is your point? It cannot continue? With changes to immigration policies, it can be extended for some time considering Japan's massive infrastructure and staggering postal savings reserves.
Consumption tax when people need to spend more to boost the economy.

@Tsnore I don't agree. Strong yen is killing your exporters and to devalue will cause panic in JGB markets. Stuck between a rock and a hard place
