  • Wow. I just realized how much of an asshole Ichabod really is. Greedy, gluttonous, and lusting after a lady, treating others pretty much like dirt.

  • ahh I can still remember creepy disney and im only 15 XD

  • 5 people got the horseman on their asses

  • Peopl are afraid of the Pink Elephants.

    Clearly people haven't seen this.

  • ichabod is one fast ass nigga dam lol

  • 29:20

    Physics? What's that?

  • It's actually so scary that it's funny at the same time.

  • This short film is brilliant, equally funny and scary at the same time.

Sort of like Evil Dead 2.

  • I went through this faze when I was obsessed with the Headless Horseman. I watched this and then I read the original story. And I said, "Wow, this is kinda creepy. My parents told me, "You should watch the Tim Burton one." So I did. HOLY CRAP!! The horseman doesn't miss on that one!!!

  • Ichabod's reaction to those cattails was a little over the top..... HAHA

  • The narration at 20:56 sounds like Christopher Lee.

  • @DarklingMagick Or Boris Karloff.

  • What I find odd is if you pay attention to the narration Katrina is as "plump as a partridge" yet they make her rather skinny and turn the only chubby woman into someone annoying.

  • Ichabod shouldn't have looked back after crossing the bridge, then the Headless Horseman wouldn't have thrown his flaming pumpkin at him and he would've lived.

  • i used to watch this video when i was little and it scared me so bad i couldnt go outside after dark for weeks. i still love this video. i wish cartoons was still like this.

  • i wont lie im 19 now and this is my first time ever seeing this movie

  • Hehe, I love when Bram sings the scary story. He's so cute

  • What I really like about the Disney version of this is that they actually got the character design of Ichabod right--straight down to his enormous ears. Even his food-loving habits are taken straight from the actual story.

Quite beautifully done if I might add.

  • Easy to tell Disney movies they all have the same look and feel. I love it!!

  • So now the Headless Horseman is sporting Ichabod's head?

  • What was that song that they sang at the Halloween party?

  • what a daft ending...

  • This scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

  • Doug Walker (aka Nostalgia Critic) brought me here! Yes, he pointed out, that he looked back and thought Ichobod was this innocence who gets attacked. Now he viewed it as an adult and realized that Ichobod is a jerk who wants to marry this girl... for her money and even blithely imagines her father out of the picture. Interesting for Disney, he pointed out. Also, quite true to the original story itself.

  • @AliaSparrow I actually always noticed that part when I first saw the Disney version around 5th grade--that Ichabod was no innocent. To be honest, I didn't even think Brom nor Ichabod deserved Katrina.

  • @glowworm2 she was also at fault for instigating the rivalry for fun.

  • Who better to narrate this lovely, yet haunting tale? :) :) :)

  • You know, he coulda just gotten off the horse when he was right there at the bridge.... But what kind of movie would THAT be right?

  • When I first saw the end of this when the Horseman showed up for the last time, I thought it was gonna be carrying ICHOBOD'S head... Now, THAT would scare the living $#1T outa me!!!! D^:

  • Dude, ever since I was little and to this day while watching this in the dark, I'd always tell myself when it was over "Man I'm getting outta here!"

    And I'm friggin' 17 lmao :D

  • I remember I couldn't watch this on my own cause I was too scared xD still does scare me a bit though .~.

  • I don't get it. Was Katrina trying to make Brahm jealous or something? Because she married him in the end.

  • @sparkthespliff well, if you can find ichabod tell us, there was nobody left to marry cause...he wasn't seen again as the story suggests.

  • THIS SLEEPY HOLLOW VERSION TAKES ME BACK. I SAW THIS AS KID IN THE 1970S. NOW SLEEPY HOLLOW IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE STORIES. I HAVE SEEN JUST ABOUT EVERY CARTOON OR MOVIE BASED ON SLEEPY HOLLOW, BUT IT STARTED WITH THIS VERSION .

  • @sparkthespliff Katrina is beautiful, rich, and spoiled. Ichabad (in the written text) thinks she wants this and then she wants that. She is dating Brom Bones before Ichabod comes to town, but likes the attention from other men. Brom Bones dressed up as the Headless Horseman, whom Ichabod truly believed was real, to scare him off and out off Katrina's life.

  • @sparkthespliff She went back to him in the end. However, at her party, she crushed any chance for a courtship between she and Ichabod, causing him to leave and then be chased by "The Headless Horseman" and run out of town rather than die of embarrassment of rejection. He only wanted her for her many anyway.

  • @sparkthespliff The full story states that Ichobod left the house exTREMELY depressed. "Was it in fact, that Katrina had been playing the School Master this whole time? Whatever the reason, Ichobod had never felt as miserable as he did then."

In the story I think the answer is yes, in this movie, I don't think so. Ichobod was indeed winning Katrina. Watch Sleepy Hollow by Tim Burton. Its awesome. Just saying. You'll know who gets her then.

  • @sparkthespliff I think she was!

  • @sparkthespliff In the original story the Headless Horseman is depicted as a human and not as a ghost and Irving makes it seem like the Headless Horseman is actually Brom Bones, trying to kill Ichabod to he can marry Katrina, but he never really fully explains this,

  • @wierdo1232123 "Kill" Ichabod? There's no indication whatsoever that Brom is trying to kill Ichabod -- merely scare him into leaving town. It's basically a high-stakes prank to get the girl. Brom is certainly not murderous.

  • The most perfect Disney cartoon this side of Pecos Bill.

  • I haven't seen this in so long! thank you for uploading this.

  • 27:54 O.O Scariest Moment In My Childhood LOL

  • We watched this today in literature class at my school! I just had to see it again! Thank you Walt Disney! And may you rest in peace!

  • I have a guess! The Headless Horseman's pumpkin was really magic! When it hit Ichabod, it sent him to a faraway place. And married a rich fat woman and had children that looked just like him!

  • I always thought Brahm Bones was an Asshole!

  • i saw this when i was little and it seriously spooked me.

Im 17 now and im noticing all the little things like the animals and sounds-

remember when Disney wasnt afraid to give kids nightmares?

its a wonder we grow up brave.

  • i swear the singing voice of ichabod sounds like dean martin but i guess its ol' bing

  • Katrina?! 0_o That's my name as you can see! How did I miss that?!

Well anyway, I remember seeing this some time ago, I use to think that Brown was pretty much Gaston while Icabod was innocent. Now I see I had things on reverse.

  • This story teaches that the tough good looking bully will always win the girl.

  • Ichabod and Bing Crosby share the same ears.

  • @mikelheron20 how do you know

  • did ichabod survive?

  • OMG I HAVENT SEEN THIS IN YEARS <3 :D

  • Happy Halloween everyone.

  • I remember watching this on the disney channel when i was growing up but they don't play this anymore around holloween it stinks, because this was an all time HOWLOWEEN CLASSIC........

  • The sad thing about this is the music would be hip hop if made today.

  • I don't begrudge my grade school education, but I think USA state public schools should add local mythology/folklore to the curriculum when teaching about history and/or English Literature. Sure, it's important to know about the liberation of India and the many works of William Shakespeare, but what about our own, small-town histories?

  • wow this is better than the new sleepy hollow

  • I watched this when I was a kid, and I'm watching it now when I'm all grown up :D Ah, the nostalgia.

  • OMGGG!!!!!!!! im gona cry! :')

i loved this! i saw this when i was like 4 i still remember.. how cute(:

  • One of the greatest Halloween movies ever made; I watch it every year.

  • It's amazing katrina can braeth with a waist so small.

  • the girl looks like cinderella....

  • Shopp-EH. XD

  • I've watched this three times already this week and it gets better every time. Great story, classic Disney animation, Bing's narration is so familiar- like he's been telling this story for decades, and the visual gags are perfect. The whole thing's here- Happy Halloween!!

  • This used to scare the crap out of me as a kid...

    This was the true Disney!

  • @ScorchFreespirit If it doesn't scare the shit out of you, it's not TRUE Disney!

  • love this movie it was short yet graet and i alway lokk forward to seen it whenever it come on. thanks for having this on you channel

  • I'm a hardcore geek and even I think Ichabod is a wiener. Kind of a douche too.. I used to like him when I was a kid.. now I'm kinda glad he lost. He was entirely too interested in her ....assets. lol Also you gotta know that the horseman was his rival in disguise... totally... I don't doubt that one second.

  • Another dark Disney classic I remeber watching in Elm School in South West Virginia on the 16mm projector thanks for up loading...

  • No dislikes so far. Sweet.

  • a great cartoon, nothing is better than hand drawn animation! its so much more realistic than that computer 3d crap we have nowadays!

  • is this supposed to scare little kids?

  • @LoveMe06HateMe Look at it, with innocent eyes, even me, a person who does not scares easily, find this creepy and dark enough for a disney film

  • OMGOMGOMG that song where hes singing about the headless horseman, around 21:40 i saw that scene a million times in this Disney Halloween special they showed at my ES & i nvr knew it was the Sleepy Hollow!

  • They didn't make it for kids thats why you never heard of this, maybe modern directors should take note

  • I actually like Brom better than Ichabod... Anyone with me?

  • @mintecherchoc You mean the guy who tried to assault Ichabod for no reason? No, not really.

  • i hate how they used to make the over weight girls in old movies look like a fool...

  • My dear friend, the late Bob Fleming was lead trumpet player on this sound track. This film scared the hell out of me when I was a kid.

  • hate brown...

  • 25:52 Something about that owl almost made me think it was gonna turn into some sort of monster or demon.

  • super movie LOVE IT

  • If you think about the first song and the song Ichabod whistles through the forest. It sounds just like Cinerella's A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.

  • I watched this every year!! Still one of my favorite memories, thanks for posting!!

  • @TheBullMoose95 Totally... Now I'm gonna torture my kids with it!

  • who ever posted this....I LOVE YOU!

  • Ichabod's encounters with Brom are extremely funny.

  • YES!! Brown gets the chick

  • This was always one of my favorite Disney cartoons, and as I got older and realized how amazing it is! I mean, Bing Crosby is definitely one of the best actors and no doubt one of the best singers of all time!

  • I'm feeling hungry just watching ichabod eat

  • Thank you so much for putting this up! My family watched this together every Halloween until the VHS tape demagnetized. It was truly a sad holiday when that happened, and now hopefully I can restore our tradition!

  • Timeless... I grew up with this great cartoon.

  • Does anyone notice the strong influence this had on Beauty and the Beast? I mean, the arrival of Belle in the opening of that film is virtually a copy of Ichabod's... Gaston is Obviously based on the Bones character...And there are several images that are copied from this short... I mention it because I've noticed this for a long time and nevar have read anything about it from anyone... Oh, well, I LOVE THEM BOTH!!!

  • @ComandoPadentro

    Ichabelle Crane

  • @mikethesmooth LOL!!! Good one dude!

  • @ComandoPadentro disney is notorious for reusing animation sequences.

  • @ComandoPadentro doesn't Katrina Van Tassel look like Cinderella too?

  • @Shadowassasin14 Completely! If Cinderella hadn't married the prince, I wonder if she would have married someone like Ichabod.

  • @ComandoPadentro If you've read the original "Beauty and the Beast" fairytale, you know that the Disney animators were fighting upstream during the whole developmental stage to create an animated movie that would be a new interpretation of an old classic. And when in doubt, they turned to the Disney archives for inspiration. That's how Ariel came to be, too; someone was digging through Walt's old files and found his early (scrapped) ideas for an animated movie based on The Little Mermaid.

  • @ComandoPadentro There is a earlier Disney Beauty and the Beast film released in 1946. Both Disney films introduced Gatson. But the way they presented it in that version I do not now so you still may have a point. I also enjoy the 1991 Disney's Beauty and the Beast as well as the 1949 Disney's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

  • @ComandoPadentro also Katrina looks alot like Cinderella!

  • One of my favorite Disney films. Bing Crosby as the narrator, does it get any better than that? Growing up in nyc, my dad would always take me and my brother up to Sleepy Hollow for the day. It's a beautiful part of the Hudson valley. The famous bridge is now a paved road and the town isn't what it used to be, but this short film is still a classic.

  • Absolute classic. One of my favorite movies to watch. So nostalgic.

  • Were doing a play of this in my high school!!!!! Wish me luck for try outs!!1

  • @ohstate411 break a leg!

  • @JamesTyreeII Thx. I got a medium part in the play since I run cross country and can't make it to all the pratices.

  • That´ve just GOT to be the same chorus as the one singing the intro to the old Donald cartoon shorts, right?

  • Soo nostalgic.. I think. I kinda remember watching this as a child, but at the same time not really sure if I did o_0
