  • Nice but why a light rail when Seattle already has a monorail and a tram?

  • Sounds like dolphins when the train came out

  • I love the smug Seattle laugh in the background throughout the video.

  • Should have been the monorail.

  • Zoltan Bebto from Budapest. Hungary,Europe.

  • Wow America has finally come out into the 20th century.. I thought america would stay stuck in the industrial century? LOL Still at least you got the idea transport its better then usind personal transport..

  • Cool. I never seen the facility up close before!

  • Hooray for Seattle ! Lat time I visited they had just busses and trackless trolleys.

  • if i could be one of the operators, it'd make my day

  • good movie, i like this streetcar

  • Car is a car,carriage is a carriage,receipt is a receipt, recipe is a recipe. What is going on ? I miss

  • The light rail in Las Veges kills NO ONE as it is above the street. Light rail on the street kills...then kills again. Maybe Mau Mau Muslims developed them to kill,kill,kill...infidels.

  • @XianSlader The trains don't kill anyone, the idiots who don't pay attention around the tracks kill themselves.

  • Seagulls are saying HELL YA SOMETHING ELSE TO SHIT ON ALLRIGHT

  • Looks kinda big compared to some light rails

  • The Mayor is a Baffoon

  • ITS ABOUT TIME! 20 years to late?

I grew up in the PUGET sound since the mid 1970s and was fustrated by the ever growing traffic. When I immigrated across the boarder to Vancouver last few years and could not believe the wonderful Sky train that is up here.

Vancouver has just finished its THIRD skytrain light rail system in a little over 20 years! Where has Seattle been in all this time?

Vancouver Skytrain is not voter approved. In this town the attitude is JUST DO IT.

  • Ha ha, totally agreed. Seattle is slow as hell. Two other big northwestern cities, Portland and Vancouver, had light rail systems long before Seattle, and both are smaller than the Emerald City!! WTF?!?

  • Don't forget that Seattle has a monorail as WELL! so in that respect, it is up there with Vancouver as far as skytrains and monorails go!

  • Seattle only "DOES IT" when it comes to building shit we don't need. like stadiums (we're still paying for the fucking king dome's roof and demolition!!!!!!!).

  • The funny thing about Seattle is the monorail system is cool, but the length kills it. If i were to circum-navigate the city it would be fantastic. Or even if it crossed the city in some way. But,hey more power to them in balto/wash. we've been pondering the idea for 10yrs or more...so goooo Seattle!

  • The monorail needs to be extended through Downtown and beyond.

  • Congratulations Seattle! Ignore all those who've been drinking the [G]Hatorade. Nice looking LRV, for a long awaited line. As much as I would've loved to have seen a monorail system take off in Seattle, this line looks nice! I look forward to coming down to Seattle and trying out your new LRT when it's ready next year.

  • Pretty Neat,

-From West Seattle (Right across the Bridge

  • wow lots of people are nosy

    that train can move

  • From the front that looks like a regular coach bus ^^ Very nice looking! =D

  • I still don't understand whats so amazing of that ? :D

But these trains are awesome anyway :P

PS ! I'm from Estonia xD

  • I don't think it's ugly. Hope the screech is from some seagulls and not the tram. Dave

  • now thats an ugly lrv

  • it didn't even come all the way out--they need to fix the engine or something!

  • At the time this was taken, the overhead wires had not yet been installed. They have been now, and testing has been under way on part of the system for about a month.

  • @Kowneyn lol

  • Welcome to the 20th century, Seattle.

    Cheers,

    Portland

  • When we build Sound Transit 2, we'll pass you. :)

  • i know! about time eh? portland has a kick ass system

  • 21ST century,dont be an idoit.

  • Pretty much every major city had some sort of rail transit last century. Don't be an idiot.

  • @headwes Hey Portland,

You can talk crap when you finally get a building over 200 feet. Your greatest claim to fame is the fact that you can open a strip club across the street from a grade school. And you have more dirty hipsters. Cheers, Seattle

  • hooray for seatle. here in san juan theyr going to build one to be ignaugurated by 2012. i love trains. be proud of the way your city is growing.!
