  • i love the mos def in the background.

  • :D Ohhhhhhhh I love you and this video! that is soooo amazing :) And it looks so pretty on you and i like the way your hair is in the AFRO to :) How did you shape your AFRO because i want to do that but im afraid it will mess up and be too short.

  • u r stunning!

  • you talk to much !

  • girl u're gorgeous

  • Do any1 kno how much da average crochet hairdo's cost

  • What brand of hair did you use???

  • wow your so pretty!

  • I appreciated the video...I know how to do these braids but it has been soooooo long since I wore the braids and I needed to have a reminder on the thickness and the amount on the sections and your video was A+++

  • Thanks so much for the video. I tried it and it looks wonderful. I used a deep curl hair from Freetress and I love it. I didn't understand why the knot was not tight but you are correct the braids will not fall out. So for all of you wondering about the knot, don't. It will be fine. Thanks again blkbutttaflies.

  • Ok, I purchased the hair and I am having a problem with the knot. It does stay but it's not tight. Is that the way it should be? Please let me know and thanks for the tutorial.

  • Beautiful

  • i think you look perfect pre cornrows

  • Thanks so much 4 the tutorial! I did it-my1st try was NOT cute (i took shortcuts because I was't sure if I'd like it...i learned that shortcuts are bad...lol...I used the wrong hair curl and did not put enough in)...anyhow the 2nd time worked fabulously. The only thing different I did was that I tied each hair group 3x in the back & 4x in the front to make sure they didn't come out like they did the first time. It's still lose, but none have come out. I'll post pics as soon as I can!

  • i luv getting crochet braids...i used to get them a lot when i was 5-7 years old but then i took like a 5 year break and now i get them again! :) and yes i am 12

  • while you are doing your hair what song is playing in the background

  • I have a question...what do you do with the ends of your corn rows? like i know you corn row your hair all the way back, straight, but what if your hair is longer, what do you do with the ends of it? Thanks so much!

  • wow i never thought about using that type of hair. i always thought crochet braids were those braids i used to wear like 10 years ago in elementary school!!, hahaha, wow, and i was lookin at this title and i was like, please tell me she not finna put them old school chrochet braids in..but this is absolutely cute, looks like ima have to pull out that old latch hook needle we got!. thanks. i'm subbing!

  • Well they are kind of old school- I wore them back in the 90s but people are wearing them still b ut doing better styles...

  • i had to come back and let you know that i tried this style. not with that brand hair. but i absolutely love it. and i went to NC, and everybody thought it was my real hair. omg. i love this style.

  • Can you do this style with straight hair, Im sure if you change the braid pattern you could do alot of diffrent things. Gives me alot of ideas thanks, I will rtry on my daughter.

  • OMG! Girl thankyou! This is like tree braiding but better! and it is clever cuz it will hold the cornrows longer! Wow you're and genius, subbed and fav' this! Luv ya girl! :)

  • Thanks for the tips. They don't teach you too much detail in hair school and I do more hair styling on black women (I'm jewish). I actually work as a pharmacist now but do hair on the weekends and these youtube videos help alot with little details. Thanks for sharing.

  • Oh my gosh, I can't wait to do this style. I was so worried about what to do for a transition style instead of me always braiding my hair or doing sew-ins. Thanks so much!!!!

  • could you use straight hair?

  • what do u do with the ends of the braids?

  • we call these latch hook braids or latch hook weaves where im form. i used to get this done all the time when i was younger. quick and easy. good work.

  • great video! thesagaciousgirl sent me. i'm so glad she did! 5'd, faved & shared! go girl!

  • that looks like that take a long a*ss time too!!

  • Can you have a tutorial with taking them out? Even if it's quite simple i'm scared I might matte my hair.

    Thank you for the video

  • how do you keep the hair from getting tangled and matted? I've always thought that you can't brush synthetic hair because it gets crazy. How do you keep it nice over a long period of time.

Better yet, how long do you think this style can last?

  • can you do this techinque with straight yaki hair? or is there only a specific type of hair to use? please respond thanks

  • quick question...when I tried this the latch hook got CAUGHT in my braids...even though I went underneath...have you ever experienced this. It would catch the bulk hair and also catch strands of the braids.Maybe I should try flat twist to begin with.

  • I'm going to do this to my hair.

  • hello i was wondering if straight hair would require more cornrows or more hair in each cornrow...does it look better with kinky hair..

  • I dont know about tying the hair in a knot. I think it would be easier to pull it through as a double thing and the fold that under. I know that doesnt make sense, sorry, but I dont think its a good idea to knot it.

  • I think I like the knot better than what you have suggested. It sounds like that your way would fall apart. I am sure there is an easy way, though.

  • how many packs of hair total?

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you soooooo much for your videos. My 12 y.o. daughter and I completed this style on my head yesterday. It looks sooo professional but it was soooo easy. It's a little full for me (this was with just 2 packs) so I cut it a little and I'm trying to thin it out a bit, but I still love it. Thanks again!!!!

  • OOOOPPPPSSSS i forgot to say thank you!!!! Thanks for this great style. I love it.

  • OMG i finished mine last night and it looks so nice. I will put up a video with picts. Im so excited.

  • Can anyone tell me how to tell when it is time to take them out?

  • I have done this with prebraided hair but now I am wanting to redo it with loose bulk hair, would it look good with like a soft wave bulk hair? And also if I do it on hair that is cornrowed in a circle will that hide the parts better?

  • I'm about to buy very soft body curl bulk hair (synthetic), I had it done once before and it was gorgeous, only thing is, the synthetic hair is extremely messy and hard to work with so you have to be careful.... but it looks great once it's done. And do not use human hair, because human hair will lay too flat and you will be able to see your braids easily..

  • Though my hair has is making great progress, I started to get tired of the two options I had 1. braiding 2. weaving. Now that I've seen your video I'm going to try this next. It seems maintenance free and I can let my hair rest without the high price tag of weaves and the long hours of braiding. Thank you again from one sista to anotha!

  • Wow thank you so much, I started my journey to natural chemical free hair about 6 months ago. I recently started to lose hope because I was getting increasingly more impatient.

  • thank u so much black buttrfly youve revolutionized my hair life!!!! love the techniqe ha ha! did my hair wiv the same weve ur usin and literally did look like a black poodle(im ashamed just thinkin bout it)

  • Waw! Amazing! But isn't that tiring???? For you, just a tip: after you let your hair grow a bit more, just use it natural in a afro style. It really suits you and you look gorgeous!!

  • i'm going tom try this when I get my jheri curl weave 2mor.... not for nothing, i hate getting my hair individually braided in the front or worst, cut to fit my weave since my hair is so long.... thanks for the enlightenment!

  • before i watched the vid: " WOW, you're really pretty"

  • Thank you for this video...i recently tried thsi style fo braiding (didn teven know what ti was called, but wanted to do something other than micros)...my problem was that I didnt have a latch-hook, so I used a hairpin and it took me all of 11 HORUS!!! I definitely need to get a latchhook. Great technique.

  • Girl, just had to login to tell you that your crochet and curl method is the bomb! I can braid a little and your new idea will save me and my daughter's nerves. BLESS YOU!!

  • what do you do with the end of the cornrow? How do you secure it so it doesn't come loose?I do love the outcome!!

  • how many packs of hair do you use. What is the name of the hair you used in this video?

  • wow that is so easy. and you can do this yourself? I need a hair break so I'm looking for other alternatives to wear my hair. Thanks for this tutorial. Can you use a crochet needle instead of a latch hook?

  • there are two types of latchhooks, and one of them basically looks like a crochet needle, but I think the one with the actual latch is better to use, because it 'holds' the hair while you prepare to pull it through. The one without the latch, or a crochet needle would be much more cumbersome

  • your really pretty with just a bush although i love the braids!

  • thank u for this video i will certainly try this i just learn how to do my own hair saving money LOL

  • Hi Blkbuttafies! I have a question for you. What do you do with this artificial hair after 2 weeks when you change the hair cut? Do you throw it away and use new one for the new hair cut?

  • how do u knot it i was try see but couldnt see how Crochet was knot . am try do my hair now like but am use straight hair . can u do with that or just waver or curls hairs only . what bests . please help sister out that learn ......

  • (continued).......I've had some hair breakage because of overheating my hair, so i wanna grow it back and my hair grows very well when french braided but i'm tired of wearing wigs to cover them. Thanks so much for this vid now me and my sister can do our hair like this for school and just redo it after 1 and a half months, Thanks again!!!!!!

  • I just have to come on here again and say how much i love your vids.... you inspired me to tell my mom about me and my sister getting our hair done like this it's so easy even she can do it (she's 11).....

  • (on my bro name) i use to get these ones done when i was younger all the time! great vid!!!!

  • hey girl..i remember doing this with the braided hair when i was younger. Another way you can secure the hair is to pull the looped part of the hair to the other side of the braid then pull the long hair through the loop and make a knot. This is a great transition style!

  • What do you do to the ends of your cornrows? Thanks for your earlier response on the other video ;)

  • Thank you so much.I have been looking for a longtime for a style i can do my self. You have made my day and many thanks -x-.

  • Ps: i brought latch hook from Ebay and got it shipped over to the UK as i wanted the same one. The best tool ever!!

  • Congrads on getting your dreads soon. I know they will be beautiful!! Thanks for the help

  • I just learned how to do this via your tutorial. I was amazed at how easy it was. Thanks!

  • I'm a little embarrased to say this..but I used a bobby pin to do mines. LOL.

  • Girl, ain't no need to be embarrassed! To improvise is to be genius. :) Post pics!

  • does it matter hair u use..

  • I would use curly or wavy hair with this particular technique, however it can be done with straight hair.

  • you can also get a hook from wal-mart

  • Thanks so much for this tutorial. But how do you get room under cornrow/flat twist to push the latch hook through? Is it just not braided/twisted as tight to the scalp?

  • sorry for taking so long to respond, but the hook should be able to easily slid underneath your braid, no matter how tight the cornrow is braided. But remember, you don't want you cornrow to tight, to the point that it leads to hair breakage.

  • Besides take the hair apart what do u do to make it look natural and I tried the 2 knot tie on my sister hair after tree braiding but it didn't hold. What should I do?

  • I am sorry that it took me so long to respond. I don't know why the knot is not holding. Can you upload a video showing what you do so that I can get a better understanding and be better offering suggestions?

  • Great video.......

You look so cute with just your natural lil'

    fro. lol

Question- How long does it usually take you

    to complete your crochet braids?

  • Thanks sxynaeone! Answer- After the cornrows are in about 3 - 4 hour. If I am going slow maybe 5 or 6.

  • Thanks girl! I just took out my kinky twist lat night and wanted to try something different. I'm going to give this a try this weekend.

  • Please let me know how it turns out! Good luck!
