I was in Daejon this past weekend. I spent three years there. Talk about being welcome. So many times when I went to eat "Korean Food" in a "Korean Restaurant" I would wait to be seated, while Koreans walked right in and sat down, then finally when I was brought in, I would be put in the very back away from the window. Then I was refused certain things on the menu because "it is too spicy for foreigners." And the majority of English Teachers there hate it because they always get ripped off by their employers.

I and our family have meal with Kimchi (There a lot of various kinds of Kimchis.) , everyday. And we eat very often Tteok, Bibimbap. Bindetteok, Bulgogi, Galbi, Samgetang are the foods we eat per 1 ~ 2 months.
And then, the Korean traditioanl full course including Hangwa is on our table in the Korean traditional celebration days and special days. The days are about 5 times per a year.
to explain about that video.. Korean don't eat like that on everyday..... we eat very simple than that..... those food in video,, you have to go to some restaurant to eat those.... Also, those foods were only for royal family in Korean history...

This is Korean court cuisine (i.e. Korean food served to royalty and nobles), kinda like what most Koreans eat but much more refined. Generally you get this kinda of food in special restaurants in Korea, not really in any restaurants in the Korean Diaspora.
You can, they sell kimchi in supermarkets pretty much everywhere. Unless you live somewhere like Montana, then it might be hard to come by. Better yet, if you live close by to a Korean mini mart or restaurant!

Actually most of America's "racism" is due to the sheer number race on race encounters in our diverse country. In Korea it is the result of a "Korean pride" and their long Homogeneous country. Also they have a long history of being oppressed by others, so they are especially tight knit. There's no use denying they have racism issues. I was in Daejon this past weekend. I asked a young woman on the street if she knew where my hotel was (I showed her the address) and she screamed in my face then called me a son of a bitch, in Korean. I clearly understood her. There's no way you can deny it. Korea is an inward directional society where the people think inwardly. If you are not of the same blood as them, they might be nice to you, but they'll let you know that you aren't one of them. And it's harsh.

I spent three years there. Talk about being welcome. So many times when I went to eat "Korean Food" in a "Korean Restaurant" I would wait to be seated, while Koreans walked right in and sat down, then finally when I was brought in, I would be put in the very back away from the window. Then I was refused certain things on the menu because "it is too spicy for foreigners." And the majority of English Teachers there hate it because they always get ripped off by their employers.

I and our family have meal with Kimchi (There a lot of various kinds of Kimchis.) , everyday. And we eat very often Tteok, Bibimbap. Bindetteok, Bulgogi, Galbi, Samgetang are the foods we eat per 1 ~ 2 months.
And then, the Korean traditioanl full course including Hangwa is on our table in the Korean traditional celebration days and special days. The days are about 5 times per a year.

to explain about that video.. Korean don't eat like that on everyday..... we eat very simple than that..... those food in video,, you have to go to some restaurant to eat those.... Also, those foods were only for royal family in Korean history...

koreans need to promote their country more. korean food needs to be very popular! I wish the korean government would go on a marketing campaign to promote korean food and culture all over the world, especially outside of Asia. It would really boost korea's image and even develop their country more. Korean food is very healthy and delicous at the same time.

I agree. A lot of people eat fried chicken and very starchy foods. korean food is very healthy. I like the most of any Asian food. I may be biased. My adoptive mother cooks bulgogi. She hasn't made it for a long time.

Oh, I love Korean food... I've been to Seoul and I ate the best food in my life! All food in Korean was great, not just traditional Korean food. I ate the best American,Japanese,Chinese,Arabic,Persian and Indian food in Korea.
But, did anyone notice the "weiguk"(foreigner) in the video was white? lol, non white weigoks who have been to Korea would eventually understand what I mean :D LOL

This is Korean court cuisine (i.e. Korean food served to royalty and nobles), kinda like what most Koreans eat but much more refined. Generally you get this kinda of food in special restaurants in Korea, not really in any restaurants in the Korean Diaspora.

You can, they sell kimchi in supermarkets pretty much everywhere. Unless you live somewhere like Montana, then it might be hard to come by. Better yet, if you live close by to a Korean mini mart or restaurant!
