If that um, firefighter had hit some Magnesium, his family would have been visiting him at the hospital. I would have just about demoted the OIC to 2nd hose. No vehicle fire is the same. People transport weird stuff in their cars like propane tanks, semi empty gas cans in the trunk, etc. Consider why the SCBA was made? Probably some firefighter thought it was a good idea. We always put them on.

Quit doggin about the scba already. If you have as many fires as Detroit does on a daily basis, you wouldn't wear it either. Your back would be out in a matter of weeks

@ajl688 Then you should hit the gym. Retirement ain't gonna do you any good if you only live a couple of years on it because you have lung cancer. SCBA's aren't that heavy. Having a lot of fires is a perfect reason TO wear your SCBA.

NFPA doesnt allow booster lines for car fires anymore and its a big no no to fight it with no SCBA...
